Who Lurks Behind the "Occupy Wall Street" Demonstrations?

This really shouldn't be surprising. Once again, every time you turn over a rock....

Reuters Speculates George Soros May Have Ties To Occupy Wall Street

But beyond the few organizational structures we’ve heard about and the public figures who have come out to express their solidarity with the frustrated bunch, who is actually funding this monumental movement?

There has been much speculation over who is financing the disparate protest, which has spread to cities across America and lasted nearly four weeks. One name that keeps coming up is investor George Soros, who in September debuted in the top 10 list of wealthiest Americans. Conservative critics contend the movement is a Trojan horse for a secret Soros agenda…

Reuters did find indirect financial links between Soros and Adbusters, an anti-capitalist group in Canada which started the protests with an inventive marketing campaign aimed at sparking an Arab Spring type uprising against Wall Street.

According to disclosure documents from 2007-2009, Soros’ Open Society gave grants of $3.5 million to the Tides Center, a San Francisco-based group that acts almost like a clearing house for other donors

Disclosure documents also show Tides, which declined comment, gave Adbusters grants of $185,000 from 2001-2010, including nearly $26,000 between 2007-2009.

The Vancouver-based group, which publishes a magazine and runs such campaigns as "Digital Detox Week" and "Buy Nothing Day," says it wants to "change the way corporations wield power" and its goal is "to topple existing power structures."

Adbusters, whose magazine has a circulation of 120,000 and which is known for its spoofs of popular advertisements, came up with the Occupy Wall Street idea after Arab Spring protests toppled governments in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, said Kalle Lasn, 69, Adbusters co-founder.

"It came out of these brainstorming sessions we have at Adbusters," Lasn told Reuters, adding they began promoting it online on July 13. "We were inspired by what happened in Tunisia and Egypt and we had this feeling that America was ripe for a Tahrir moment."

The dots are pretty easy to connect. Soros gives millions to the Tides Center who in turns funnels money into the Adbusters - the group who started this whole idea. Not hard to figure that out.

The protests began in earnest on September 17, triggered by an Adbusters campaign featuring a provocative poster showing a ballerina dancing atop the famous bronze bull in New York's financial district as a crowd of protesters wearing gas masks approach behind her.

Dressed in anarchist black, the battle-ready mob is shrouded in a fog suggestive of tear gas or fires burning. Some are wearing gas masks, others wielding sticks. The poster's message seems to be a heady combination of sexuality, violence, excitement and adventure.

Again, this isn't surprising. And the protests have effectively removed the blame from where it belongs - notably the failed policies of the current administration and the democratic senate (not to mention the two years of a democratic supermajority) and now the narrative is centered on Wall Street.

And once again, we see Mr Soros lurking in the background.

Scott, I could be wrong, but I don't see these wall street protesters going on much longer. I'm surprised it has gone on for this long. I will charge up my camera for tomorrow and perhaps will get some footage in Denver. Tent city there is expanding but there are scheduled events in that area for this up coming weekend, and they will have to be removed, and then time to clean up, and of course the cost to the city by tax payers money. I also heard they will have to be removed in NYC too?

I agree Jec - I believe the first cold rain that comes in - it will dwindle significantly. Lets face it - these people aren't known for their toughness, otherwise they'd be working

The best part about this blog is that almost every day there's a comment along the lines of "maybe today" and every time it doesnt happen "today" the anticipation and longing for his coming increases instead of being dashed by doubt. It seems to give more meaning to the word "imminent".

Good point Dylan.

What Bride doesn't anticipate the day of her wedding?

Imagine the bride in the ancient Jewish wedding customs - who would patiently await the groom's surprise coming. Its the same with us.

We can never ever lose that sense of anticipation and excitement - because we will be meeting personally with Jesus!

That aspect never grows old and it shouldn't because it has such EPIC and ENORMOUS implications - the fact that we will actually be with Jesus Himself - we will see him, we will actually look Him in the eye - we will talk with Him - Its beyond anything we can imagine - and the anticipation NEVER grows old. Its just TOO BIG. I can't wait

And then there is the element of reunion with each other and our loved ones who have gone ahead of us.

And of course, the overwhelming aspect of being in Heaven - New Jerusalem.

All of the above.

Its hard to imagine - but I know one thing - the anticipation grows daily because with each passing day we are THAT much closer.

That paragraph was worth repeating Scott! That just casued me to drop to my knees in prayer and thanksgiving to our Lord! This would be a perfect sermon conclusion. I loved what it stirred in me. Nicely done!

I completely agree with Scot and Jec about the toughness of these protesters. I would love to see them out there in one of our Buffalo blizzards.

Guess we should pray for a cold snap and a sudden shortage of toilet paper!

What better way to approve and implement a communist policy. Get the community involved by making capitalism the enemy of the common people, have the government look like it supports the worthy cause. With enough dissatisfaction bow to the people's demands and outlaw capitalism and implement a global tax. Democratic capitalism is banned and all workers earn the same amount of money. The government looks clean and supportive of the community until everyone wakes up and realizes they've just been had by world elite rich. I don't know I'm just having a guess. Just my thoughts.

Absolutely Dave - its the root of the whole "Class Warfare"mantra that that been going on. Its ultimately a push towards Marxism.

I agree with you Scott, with George behind the scenes you have to suspect this is no ordinary organized protest.

And I read tonight my time these protests are coming over here to Australia. Apparently they are already being staged in countries like Greece, UK and now here. Looks like a gradual global push to promote unrest in this area. Time will tell. God bless Scott.

We have to remember, the protests didn't begin in the US. This same movement had a strong foothold in Egypt, Lybia, Israel, Greece, Spain, England, Ireland, etc. before Occupy Wall Street began. In fact, they all appear to be run by the same forces . . .Soros, Open Society, Tides, Code Pink, Adbusters, Hamas, etc. This is just all part of their plan to further their agenda of a One World system . . .both politically and economically speaking. I humbly disagree that this will all die out as cold weather sets in. Their tactics may change, they may even focus their attention on cities with milder winters . . .but I don't believe they'll end until the public has been worn down enough to give in to their demands so they can return to peace. Like bad/lazy parents who are willing to go against their own common sense if it will just put a stop to the incessant whining.

After all . . .is that really so far fetched given what we know about their underlying agenda?

Robin, you may be right that this will pick up again in the spring; but then again, we may be having our big wing-ding in heaven by then; and these kooks will be the least of our worries.

I find it amazing looking at the earthquake activity recently in Greece and Italy and Russia areas. I have taken a look at the earthquake monitor almost daily for many month now and have never seen that many in those areas. I find that one of the many clues that we are surely getting close. I cannot wait to see My Lord!

Anon - I have made that same observation...
