Pestilence: Tuberculosis Returns

Remember - pestilence is a sign of our times.

Dangerous TB spreading at alarming rate in Europe - WHO

Multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis (TB) are spreading at an alarming rate in Europe and will kill thousands unless health authorities halt the pandemic, the World Health Organisation(WHO) said on Wednesday.

Launching a new regional plan to find, diagnose and treat cases of the airborne infectious disease more effectively, the WHO's European director warned that complacency had allowed a resurgence of TB and failure to tackle it now would mean huge human and economic costs in the future.

"TB is an old disease that never went away, and now it is evolving with a vengeance," said Zsuzsanna Jakab, the WHO's Regional Director for Europe.

"The numbers are scary," Lucica Ditiu, executive secretary of the Stop TB Partnership told a news conference in London. "This is a very dramatic situation."

Experts say around 7 percent of patients with straightforward TB die, and that death rate rises to around 50 percent of patients with drug-resistant forms.

Very interesting Q and A...Basically the Eu is saying that they will intervene in other countries as they determine. Chilling.

Importantly, this is coming from the EEAS - the group who may well end up going to Israeli borders as part of the "confirmation" of the Covenant.

Here it is for anybody who is interested - Take a look at question #7 in particular.

Link

Thanks again Stephen - I am always very interested in the EEAS .

Scott, what do u think ??

I have BEEN hearing that the Quartet been making noise like
they want to get an agreement
with Abbas and Bibi before Abbas
does his little showdown with
the UN shortly.

I am concerned that the agreement
IF IT HAPPENS could be 7 years long.

What do you think ?? Have u
heard any more from the Quartet ??
please write soon

thanks

That is indeed an interesting aspect to this - what will happen as the deadline for the UN vote approaches and last minute scrambling to avoid it - we'll have to stay tuned to see what happens

TB is on the rise in our region because of infected migrant workers who come yearly to work in the cotton fields. : /

Gear,
Michael Savage, a noted Dr. of Epidemiology, was fully aware of these outbreaks and warned it would get worse, way back when he 1st got started local on KSFO before he went national [He started the campaign for Borders, Language, & Culture].

So is malaria, but thats because of the ban on DDT.....(Don't get me started.....)

My dad was drafted right after college [Chem-Eng degree] into Chem-warfare research at the start of WW2, and was always aware of the shenanigans. Said banning DDT was one of the worst thing to do to the world and complained for over 30yrs that they should have gone after Monsanto for PCB instead. He was very early up on the transformers that would explode out in the farmlands and would contaminate cows milk and the cover-ups that went on for yrs.

THE DDT ban was one of the most idiotic 'policies' ever enacted. honestly.

In fact, I was on a Malaria task force for a while, that dealt with the problem in 3rd world nations and the problem is enormous.

So for the people responsible for its nab, I guess some theoretical (false) problems with DDT outweigh millions of people with the illness and resulting morbidity/mortality. Absolutely breathtaking in its stupidity

And as you probably know, its the main reason for the bedbug resurgence. Icing on the cake...

Like I said, don;t get me started....

Yes, bed bugs, we thought they were a "thing of the past". I can remember running along in the fog of the trucks spraying the creeks for mosquitos during the hot humid NC summers. I guess that was DDT? I am almost 62 and "no worse for wear." Diane

Bed bugs!

There was a tv chat about this only this week; I am still scratching... urgh

They are being spread by world travel, they squeeze themselves into a tiny gap inside people's suitcases ... argh

My hubby had to work on a building crawling with them. When he got home, he stripped all his clothes off in below zero cold outside the back door and left them to freeze. ~~ shudder~~

When they went to Spain for their hols; his aunt and uncle used to wet bars of soap in the dark, then would suddenly switch the light on, whip back the covers to take the beasties by surprise then quickly slap the soap down on top of them to stick to...Eeeee

I never have never felt any urge to go to Spain!!!
