Evening Update: Tipping Points In The Middle East

An Attack On Iran "Within Weeks Or Months"

Yet another story about this possible upcoming conflict:

Aharon Ze'evi-Farkash, former head of the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate, predicted on Friday that an Israeli attack on Iran could take place in the near future.

"It could happen within weeks or months,” Ze’evi-Farkash said in an interview with Channel 2 news

“There is a need to stop Iran's nuclear program,” he clarified, adding, “I do not know if Israel plans to attack soon, the prime minister said the issue has not yet been decided. But the way I understand the big picture, it seems it will happen soon.”

“The Iranians need to understand that if they do not cease their efforts to become nuclear, the moment will come when they will have to absorb a blow - especially to their military bases,” said Ze’evi-Farkash, who predicted that in such a case the IDF will not operate alone. “The blow will be dealt by a coalition, an American one or even an Israeli one.”

Israel's Ambassador Attacks Syria In Fiery UN Speech: Chemical Weapons Addressed

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, fiercely attacked Syria and the Syrian ambassador to the UN during a speech to the General Assembly on Friday.

Prosor accused Syrian President Bashar Assad's ambassador of spreading lies and hiding the reality that takes place in Syria.

Referring to the issue of the chemical weapons being held by the Syrian regime, Prosor said, “A leader who brutally slaughters children today will not hesitate to use chemical weapons against them tomorrow.” He then turned to the members of the General Assembly and said that they must pass an unequivocal message to Assad: “Transferring chemical weapons to Hizbullah or other terrorist organizations is a red line that should not be crossed.”

On Friday it was reported that Assad has transferred a battery of advanced missilesto the al-Masna border crossing, which is the central route used to transfer equipment and weapons to the Hizbullah terror group.

The report cited members of the Syrian opposition who said that one of two major chemical arsenals of the Syrian regime is located near that border crossing. The distance between the weapons facility and the Lebanese border crossing is 68 kilometers, meaning that if a war breaks out between Hizbullah and Israel, the terror group will be able to transfer the chemical weapons and missiles to Lebanese territory in a time period of between one and two hours.

Assad Transfers Missiles To Lebanese Border

Syrian President Bashar Assad has transferred a battery of advanced missiles to the al-Masna border crossing, which is the central route used to transfer equipment and weapons to the Hizbullah terror group,Channel 10 News reported on Friday.

The report cited members of the Syrian opposition who said that one of two major chemical arsenals of the Syrian regime is located near that border crossing.

This facility is located just 24 kilometers from a missile base belonging to Hizbullah, Channel 10 noted. The secret base was first unveiled by the London Times newspaper in May of 2010.

The distance between the weapons facility and the Lebanese border crossing is 68 kilometers, meaning that if a war breaks out between Hizbullah and Israel, the terror group will be able to transfer the chemical weapons and missiles to Lebanese territory in a time period of between one and two hours.

And if tensions weren't high enough in the region already, we see Russia adding further complexity to the mix:

The report comes on the same day that it was reported that Russian warships were scheduled to dock in Syria.

Numerous international media outlets said on Friday that Russia was planning to dock three ships manned by marines to its naval base at Tartus in Syria. According to those reports, each ship has 120 marines. The ships were said to be currently stationed in the Mediterranean. Russia was quick to deny the reports.

As you can see, reports about attacking Iran are purposefully vague. I believe are biggest worry is the Syrian tension. It WILL draw in Iran via Hezbullah. I am sure those Lebanese bases are well marked garget for the IAF.
I believe Scott, you had posted a report that Russia had many assets and equipment at that port in Syria and is going there either to remove the equipment or protect it. That is an interesting complication. Any accidental or intentional hit on the port to stir up the Russian bees nest would be lethal.

EXTREMELY well written article!

"Israel realizes: Only US can stop Iran.....

...The security echelon's position was that should Iran reach the point where only a military operation could set back or halt its nuclear program, it would be preferable that the US carry out such an operation, mainly because it possesses the capabilities, resources and army bases to operate in all of Iran and sustain a military campaign over a long period of time – even months. Such an ongoing operation would prevent Iran from rehabilitating its nuclear program......

...The Obama administration was, and remains, vehemently opposed to a strike for fear of a spike in oil prices, which would hamper economic recovery and hurt the president's chances for reelection....

...In Israel, senior IDF officers and the intelligence community urged Barak and Netanyahu to delay any plans for an attack....

...Meanwhile, Israel is continuing with its preparations, which are headed by IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz. Members of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee claim that former security officials who are against an Israeli strike are not familiar with the current plan and the existing capabilities. Judging by his appearances before the committee, Gantz appears to be fairly certain that, if ordered to attack, the IDF would be able to surprise the Iranians and shock the world."

there does not need to be a war
for a spike in fuel prices. Our
silly little greedy BULLS have
already taken care of that. In
JUST THE LAST 6 weeks, Unleaded
gas prices on the NYMEX on
the Hudson River in NYC have RALLIED
a whopping 70 cents !!!!

And crude was up over 4 bucks...
just this AM !!!!

Americans want high stock prices and
yet they want low prices at the pump.

AINT' GONNA HAPPEN, NO WAY >>>>

you CANNOT have your CAKE and eat it too.....!!!!

Translation ??

IF OIL FUTURES CONTINUE TO GET
BULLED, Obama is OUT, PAU, finished. and being from Honolulu
HE KNOWS what pau means. in Hawaiian it means DONE or FINISHED.

On another note, it is logical
that anyone who believes in
Jesus is waiting for the rapture.
I can understand that.

WHAT I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND is how
people can wake up every day expecting it....especially with
STOCKS getting bulled like they are ???

get serious please....

the trend is UP in stocks and will
be for QUITE a while. That is
apparent to me as of tonite.

EWI counts show a rally possibly
to WELL BEYOND 13,000 on the dow.

Yea I had to do a double take driving by some gas stations here in Cleveland... Yikes! Was actually expecting another spike like this 2 months ago.... Question is, will it start dropping down as soon as the masses cut back & start staying home more, to save money? That seemed to be the case last time prices at the pump started soaring.....

Israeli-what you can count on is us praying for you and your nation!
What you can't count on (and I cannot emphasize this enough!) Is our nation to come to your nations aid and defense. My heart breaks to both say these words and to know the truth and weight of them. :(
Our leaders is no friend to you. He is quite the opposite. That is why he has constantly delayed action. He has purposelly reorganized the whole m.e. And has helped the "brotherhood" to come to power while death has come to those who were our friends and trusted us! Do not be decieved. He is a master of deceit, manipulation and evil! He bows 5 times a day to worship a God that is not our God.
But be not afraid!!!!!!!! God himself is going to take care of you and your nation! And the whole world will see it and know that he is God! Of this I am 100% certain! Our prayers go up day and night for you and he hears our groanings.
And if you pray for us, pray for revival, awakening and our nation to turn our hearts back to him! And pray with fervancy as our time here is growing short!
Last gentile, where are you? Hurry up!
Maranatha!
