Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Monday the "worst-case scenarios" were now playing out in Syria and Turkey would do everything necessary to protect itself, as its army fired back for a sixth day after a shell from Syria flew over the border.
"The worst-case scenarios are taking place right now in Syria ... Our government is in constant consultation with the Turkish military. Whatever is needed is being done immediately as you see, and it will continue to be done," Gul said.
A Turkish news agency says additional fighter jets have been sent to reinforce an air base in the country’s southeast amid escalating tensions with Syria.
The move is also seen as bolstering Turkish forces along the Iraqi border. Turkish jets struck Kurdish rebel targets in two separate cross-border raids in northern Iraq on Sunday despite warnings from Baghdad.
After Hamas and Islamic Jihad co-signed a statement taking responsibility for the 55-rocket barrage fired into southern Israel over the Simchat Torah holiday, a seniorIDF source said Israel has no choice but to launch a wide-scale militaryoperation against Gaza.
In an interview with US journalist Charles Rose broadcast on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed dismay about the “Arab Spring” turning into a “Nuclear Winter”.
At the same time, Lavrov stressed the necessity of showing a “serious attitude” toward the fact that more countries are mulling maintaining national security by obtaining nuclear weapons.
“Threats and isolation only fuel similar moods in some countries,” Lavrov said.
Commenting on the Iranian nuclear program, he said that Moscow is concerned over Tehran’s attempts to develop nuclear weapons, something that Lavrov said is yet to be verified.
Syrian rebels and government forces on Tuesday were fighting for the control of a key government-held area near the Turkish border, a rebel commander told dpa.
"Fighting on the ground is fierce and warplanes are helping the troops by bombarding areas in Maaret al-Nouman."
The clashes came a day after a Syrian shell landed in the Turkish province of Hatay, prompting Turkey to fire retaliatory shells into Syria.
The head of NATO said on Tuesday the military alliance had plans in place to defend Turkey against attack from Syria if needed."We have all necessary plans in place to protect and defend Turkey if necessary," Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told reporters before a meeting of the alliance's defense ministers in Brussels.
Below we see a very interesting development - especially in the face of rapidly evolving polls in the U.S. which reveal Obama slipping dramatically and possibly desperate:
The United States and Israel are considering the possibility of a joint "surgical strike" against Iran's nuclear facilities, according to a Foreign Policy report by David Rothkopf published Monday.
While Israel and the U.S. still don’t entirely agree on the "red line" which would trigger a military response, the report said that the Israelis are now suggesting a more limited attack than was previously debated.
Rothkopf, a former Clinton administration official and international relations expert, quoted a source said to be close to the discussions, which claimed that a small-scale attack is currently viewed as the most likely military option. Such strike, the source said, is likely to only take a few hours and would be conducted by air, using bombers and supported by drones.
According to the report, another consideration for a limited strike is a political one. Bringing up the possibility of a limited, aerial assault, could defuse Romney's criticism, since the likelihood of such an attack of being carried out is higher
The United States and Israel have come closer together in recent days, in their views regarding an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, according toForeign Policy magazine.
"According to a source close to the discussions," writes David Rothkopf, "the action that participants currently see as most likely is a joint U.S.-Israeli surgical strike targeting Iranian enrichment facilities."
"The strike might take only 'a couple of hours' in the best case and only would involve a 'day or two' overall, the source said, and would be conducted by air, using primarily bombers and drone support." The plan is apparently being advocated by Israel.
Those who favor the approach argue that, as far as the American public is concerned, it is likely to be more politically palatable than a larger scale war. Moreover, they say, if it is successful – knocking out enrichment facilities, setting the Iranian nuclear program back many years, and doing so without civilian casualties – it would have "region-wide benefit."
Jews across France say anti-Semitic threats have escalated since a deadly assault on a Jewish school in the southwestern town of Toulouse this spring. The attack on the grocery store in the Paris suburb of Sarcelles came several weeks ago, and the synagogue in nearby Argenteuil was this weekend.
French Jews believe the danger comes from radical messages that appeal to young Muslims in France who are unemployed, angry, alienated and looking for someone to blame.
“Risks for recession in the advanced economies are alarmingly high,” said the Fund’s latest World Economic Outlook. “The intensity of the euro area crisis has not abated as assumed in previous projections.”
Failure to act in time could lead to a full-blown crash, with contraction near 7pc next year in Southern Europe and a deep recession in the North.
One out of every eight people in the world is chronically undernourished, the United Nations' food agencies said on Tuesday, warning that progress to reduce hunger has slowed since 2007/08 when high food prices sparked riots in several poor countries.
In their latest report on food insecurity, the UN agencies estimated that 868 million people were suffering hunger in 2010-2012, or about 12.5 percent of the world's population
According to the Congressional Budget Office and mosteconomists, Washington's failure to address the fiscal cliff -- the simultaneous onset of tax increases and spending cuts that will be triggered on Jan. 1 -- would push the country back into recession and drive unemployment up even higher.
"The fiscal cliff is a ticking time bomb, and the success or failure of this election will be whether the new crew will be able to diffuse it," said Orlando.
The world is clearly on the brink. Whether you look at financial collapse, famine and food shortages, warfare breaking out, nuclear and chemical weapons in the hands of terrorists, approaching totalitarianism, globalism, increasing threats against Israel, earthquakes, rising radical Islam, increasing threats to freedom, persecution, massive debt, nations crumbling, dependency, moral decline, violence, riots, etc., you name it and its here at this time.
The world is shaping up precisely as the ancient prophets informed us through the prophetic scriptures.
Fortunately, we have a savior who is on the way.

Ok, going to try this one more time, lets see what happens.
Hiya :D
A few of us remember Servant from PF. Her oldest son is extremely ill with pneumonia and she is asking urgently for prayer. He has been ill and in the ICU since late Sept and now moved to a larger facility as his lungs continue to fill and his heart has stopped several times. Thank you for praying and sorry to post other than news but this was very urgent and she has asked. His name is Jimmy.
I have just lifted up Servant's son in prayer per your request.... & hoping his recovery is already began. :)
Praying for Jimmy
Prayed for Jimmy
Praying for Jimmy
Praying for Jimmy's healing.
Maybe Obama's only hope to win the election now is to strike Iran jointly with Israel? That would be a 180 degree turn for him and otherwise it makes no sense. Probably just talk?
My husband pointed out something to me that hadn't occurred to me . Even if Obama loses the election, he's still president until January. That would still give him time to pull some more tricks.
Kem, you can add me to the prayer list for Jimmy. As the old saying goes: politics makes strange bedfellows of us all. I guess Obama will do anything to win the election; but the one thing he cannot change is the prophetic word of God, which clearly tells us how it will play out. I realize it's always fun to play the speculation game as to the timing of everything; but then I thought we would have been out of here 10 years ago. So I've stopped speculating on these things and just leave all the details up to God's perfect timing; and if there's one thing I've learned, you cannot improve on perfection, especially HIS.
Praying for Jimmy!
Praying for Jimmy with all the dear ones here.
Earnestly!
