China Vows To Launch 'Targeted Military Actions' As U.S. Speaker Arrives In Taiwan

China Vows to Launch ‘Targeted Military Actions’ as Pelosi Arrives in Taiwan

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday landed in Taiwan.

China had issued multiple threats related to the trip, prompting Taiwan to call back soldiers that were on leave and begin preparing them for a potential war with the Chinese Communist Party.

“We would like to tell the United States once again that China is standing by, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will never sit idly by, and China will take resolute responses and strong countermeasures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said during a daily press briefing prior to her arrival, according to a report from CBS News.

China’s military vowed to launch ‘targeted military actions’ in response to Pelosi’s Taiwan visit.

“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army is on high alert and will launch a series of targeted military operations to counter this, resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and resolutely thwart external interference and ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist attempts,” PLA spokesman Wu Qian said in a statement condemning the visit, according to Insider.

#WWIII trended on Twitter after Pelosi landed in Taiwan.
