The Council on American-Islamic Relations, aka CAIR, has helped launch a series of protests across the country and plans lawsuits related to President Trump’s recent executive orders on immigration.
The orders are designed to keep Americans safer from terrorism by temporarily barring visitors from Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Sudan from entering the U.S. without “extreme vetting” and banning refugees from these countries for at least 30 days.
CAIR has been declared a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates and was named by federal prosecutors as an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas-funding operation.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is also increasingly a part of America’s institutional left infrastructure and was one of the partners behind the recent Women’s March in Washington that drew hundreds of thousands, along with feminist groups like Planned Parenthood.
On Saturday, protests broke out at airports around the country, including New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Saturday morning, two Iraqis were detained at JFK.
CAIR chapters were actively promoting the protests on social media and acting as spokesmen for the issue.
ABC News reports on the Chicago chapter of CAIR’s involvement:
At least one person was detained at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago today, and it is expected that she will return to Saudi Arabia, according to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).Sahar Alghnimi, a Syrian woman who came to the U.S. on tourist visa to see her mother who had just undergone cancer surgery, was detained when she arrived from Saudi Arabia at 8:48 AM on Eithad Airlines, CAIR Chicago executive director Ahmed Rehab told ABC News.
Meanwhile in Boston, CAIR is is planning another rally for Sunday at 1 p.m. on Boston’s Copley Square.
CAIR-Massachusetts Executive Director John Robbins said Trump is playing on “religious bigotry and intolerance” and will end up turning away men, women, and children fleeing violence and persecution.
Time magazine says that CAIR was behind a protest that happened earlier in the week at New York City’s Washington Square Park:
CAIR has announced on their website that they will hold a news conference at its Capitol Hill headquarters in Washington, D.C. to announce the filing of a federal lawsuit on behalf of more than 20 individuals challenging the “Muslim ban” executive order. CAIR’s news conference will be live-streamed on its Facebook page.
Obama-appointed Federal Judge Ann Donnelly has blocked deportations of foreign nationals who have been detained at American airports in the last day.
The legal maneuver follows an executive order issued by President Trump Friday calling for temporary visa restrictions on seven countries connected to radical Islamic terrorism.
The suit had been filed by the ACLU on behalf of two Iraqi refugees who were detained at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, despite that both men were later released. NBC reports that a Trump administration official said waivers would be granted for the two men.
That didn’t stop Judge Donnelly from granting the stay for others — blocking anyone with a valid visa from being detained and keeping those stranded at airports from being deported. It does not mean they have to be released from detention.
NBC also reported that the ACLU attorneys and a crowd outside the Federal Court in Brooklyn were elated by the ruling:
“Stay is granted,” ACLU Voting Rights Project Director Dale Ho said on Twitter. “Stay is national.”
Crowds outside federal court in Brooklyn cheered the news. The ACLU said the judge ordered a list of detainees to be provided, and said it would go through the names and ensure they are released.
Judge Donnelly was appointed by President Obama on the recommendation of current Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY.), who said about Donnely at the time, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle:
“Ann Donnelly met all of my qualifications with flying colors,” Schumer continued. “When you speak with Judge Donnelly, what’s immediately clear is her deep respect and passion for the law. Judge Donnelly is more than a brilliant resume, I know her well and at her core she is a kind, thoughtful and compassionate person.”
Tancredo: Over 300 Sanctuary Cities Are Costing State and Local Taxpayers over $7,000,000,000 Annually
President Trump this week signed an executive order declaring war on so-called sanctuary cities. Agencies within the United States Government will begin withholding federal grant funds from those cities, and additional actions to enforce federal immigration law will be taken soon.
Unlike Obama, President Trump is not trying to making new laws by executive decree. In his Executive Order, the president is only reminding mayors and governors of existing federal law dating to 1996:
The president’s executive order is not only good news for law enforcement, it is also a good civics lesson for some mayors and even some members of Congress.
- The mayor of Denver last week said in the same breath that Denver is not a sanctuary city but it will continue to defy federal immigration law.
- Congressman Michael Coffman, whose district office is located in Aurora, Colorado, made an announcement after the mayor of Aurora similarly disclaimed the label “Sanctuary City” while affirming, sanctuary policies, Representative Coffman said he will propose a bill in Congress defining a sanctuary city as ONLY cities which call themselves sanctuary cities.
- Is it any wonder citizens are confused when politicians go to such lengths to obfuscate the issue?
The Trump executive order is also good news for taxpayers. Sanctuary cities impose a huge, billion cost to taxpayers that has been hidden from public view and shielded from political accountability.
- That annual taxpayer burden amounts to over $14 Billion nationally, over $1 billion in California and Texas and over $100 million annually in over a dozen states.
This will be news to you because those annual taxpayer costs are hidden from public scrutiny — by Congress, by state legislatures, and by local officials. Sanctuary city policies have a high cost not only in allowing criminal aliens to roam free on our streets, they also impose a huge burden on taxpayers.
The taxpayer costs revealed by those annual reports are mind-boggling. States and local communities are being reimbursed at less than three cents on the dollar of the true costs for criminal alien incarceration, but politicians are hiding that fact from the nation’s taxpayers.
To most Americans, these hidden taxpayer costs are not the most important reason for opposing sanctuary city policies. The real cost is not in taxpayer dollars but in the hundreds of thousands of crimes committed by individuals who should not be here in the first place. If we had secure borders and effective enforcement of all immigration, these criminal alien incarceration numbers would be very small.
Whew...these evil left-wing folks are not the brightest crayons in the box for sure...evil is being unveiled by God, and roaring in response to their exposure.
These so called "protests" funded by Soros of course, are beyond absurd. Where was their "outrage" when ovomit did the same thing to Iraqi's for 6 months? Where was their "outrage" with what the satan spawned ovomit did to the Cubans on his way out the door? Where was their "outrage" with the relentless slaughter of Christians?
President Trump is many, many steps ahead of these falsely outraged people. President Trump has just laid the protective ground work to protect the American people, for what is soon to come in two parts.
-He gave the Pentagon 30 days to come up with the plan to annihilate Isis.
- implemented the temporary travel ban involving nations all that are Isis hubs.
When we implement our attacks against Isis, they will scatter like desperate cockroaches when they see they are being defeated. Where will they go? They will scatter to the Western nations they hate fervently, with the goal of death and destruction to us. They wont take a boat to get here, they will try to fly. Just as the Nazi's...when they new the end was near they infiltrated "refugees" making it to many Western nations, and some came here. The Nazi's evil is the same recycled satanic evil as is in Isis...satan surely knows his time is short! Hold on Brothers & Sisters...fasten your seat-belts! Evil is being revealed, exposed by God, and whew we are in for a wee bit of a bumpy ride...for how ever long the Lord tarries...
Excellent follow up Mrs. C. May God bless you and all those that are coming to Christ. Thanks Scott for the focus and love you have for Christ's church
