Yes It Matters...A Lot

If you aren't following this story closely, you should. It matters a lot. We actually have a situation where a Christian has been JAILED - without bail -  for her beliefs and this marks the beginning of what will be a progressive and worsening situation as the Tribulation approaches:

As of Friday morning, Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis sits in jail for her refusal to hand out state licenses for same-sex marriages. She cited her First Amendment religious liberty in her defense. She was arrested after being held in contempt by a federal judge, District Judge David L. Bunning.

Her arrest represents tyranny – not because there is no legal authority to arrest, or because freedom of religion trumps rule of law, but because selective use of legal authority is tyranny. And Kim Davis is right to risk jail in defiance of federal lawlessness. God bless her for that bravery.

Moral Authority. The government may have legal authority to jail Davis, but it has no moral authority. This government has become an immoral force, a club wielded against people of certain political and religious perspectives.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy defied the Constitution of the United States to unilaterally impose his political will on the people of the United States, and he does not sit in jail; instead, the president of the United States shined rainbow lights on the White House to signify his celebration of such a Constitutional perversion. But Kim Davis, who refused to abide by that Constitutional perversion, sits in jail for defying Anthony Kennedy and Barack Obama.

If absence of law is anarchy, selective enforcement is tyranny.

As John Adams wrote, civilization requires a “government of laws, and not of men.” Selective enforcement of the law – and in this case, selective enforcement of the law against those who stand with natural law – perverts law into a club to be wielded by the powerful against the powerless.

The fact that the government has transformed rule of law into rule of leftist Democrats means that Davis’ decision to go to jail rather than quitting is actually heroic. She didn’t need to object to handing out same-sex marriage certificates on religious grounds; she could have done so on purely Constitutional, rule of law grounds. Lawless orders should not be followed, and the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell is lawless in the extreme. The Nuremberg Defense – the idea that superior orders must be followed – was rejected in the Nuremberg Principles:

The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him.

The left used this principle as an argument in favor of burning draft cards during the Vietnam War. But when one judge overturns millennia of civilizational principles because he wants to anoint homosexuality as a virtuous lifestyle, the left believes this argument goes out the window: Davis must obey, no matter the perversion of rule of law she has been told to enforce.

The minute government became arbitrary and unjust, the minute the Supreme Court became an instrument of will rather than judgment, natural law was violated. Striving to uphold rule of law while upholding rule of lawlessness violates rule of law. End of story.

That, in fact, was the founding philosophy of the United States, which declared in its Declaration of Independence that violation of natural law meant violation of rule of law itself. Martin Luther King Jr. believed the same thing, which is why he encouraged civil disobedience to lawless legality in his “Letter From a Birmingham Jail”:

You express a great deal of anxiety over our willingness to break laws. This is certainly a legitimate concern…One may well ask, ‘How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?’ The answer is found in the fact that there are two types of laws: there are just laws, and there are unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that ‘An unjust law is no law at all.’

King continues by asking what constitutes an “unjust law.” Here is his answer:

A just law is a man-made code that squares with the moral law, or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law…An unjust law is a code that a majority inflicts on a minority that is not binding on itself. That is difference made legal.

Rule of law is the most fundamental example of just law. The American left has destroyed rule of law; the vestiges of legality they now hide behind are the instruments of despotism. Going to jail to stand up against an arbitrary and lawless government isn’t a badge of shame for Davis; it ought to be a badge of honor. Sadly, many other people of principle will have to stand up against an arbitrary and dictatorial government before a government of laws, not men, is restored.

Kentucky County Clerk upheld the law and is a political prisoner in America

I’ll make this very brief, for it’s not that complicated. Rowan County, Kentucky clerk Kim Davis broke no laws. In fact, she kept to her oath of office and upheld the Kentucky state Constitution by refusing to issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples. Setting aside her Christian beliefs here, I ask anyone to show me the codified law of Rowan County or the state statute in which she has allegedly violated. It does not exist.

The “dirty little secret” that the Marxists, Communists and Fabian Socialists who have captured our nation desperately don’t want you to know is that Kim Davis executed her duties exactly as she was elected to do, for there is no law that permits Kim Davis or anyone in her office to issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples. None! The Supreme Court opinion of June 26, 2015 does not trump the laws of the state or county and is not the law of the land – period.

Simply because political leaders and media pundits claim that the SCOTUS decision in the Obergefell case claim that “homosexual marriage” is “the law of the land” does not make it so, regardless how many times the lie is repeated in the captured corporate media.
Through judicial activism by black-robed terrorist federal judges, Kim Davis has been unlawfully imprisoned in the state of Kentucky. It is therefore incumbent upon that state’s highest elected official, the Governor of the state of Kentucky, to order her release immediately. Failure to do so constitutes a violation of his oath to uphold his duties by enforcing the laws in his state.
The same applies to the sheriff of Rowan County, the highest elected official of the county, to uphold his oath of office and demand Ms. Davis’ release.
Alternatively, produce the codified state or county law that she has allegedly broken.
There is none.

An attorney for a Kentucky clerk who has repeatedly skirted a judge’s orders and refused to grant gay marriage licenses said that he is “stunned” by the justice’s decision on Thursday afternoon to have his client arrested.

“This wasn’t even what was part of the original request from the plaintiffs in this case,” attorney Mat Staver told TheBlaze. “The judge went way beyond.”

Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, a conservative legal firm, said that he believes U.S. District Judge David Bunning is treating Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis like “a criminal” after Bunning ordered that she be put behind bars until she complies.

“Kim Davis might be jailed for her conscience, but her conscience is free,” he said.

Staver, who was not in the courtroom for Davis’ contempt hearing, said that he is surprised by Bunning’s decision, and that his client is a strong woman who has “faith in her Lord.”

The attorney also had a message about the impact that he believes her arrest will have on the overarching debate over rights of religious conscience.

“This judge has just ignited a national debate and escalated it to a new level,” Staver said.
Bunning can’t hold Davis indefinitely, but Staver said that he can detain her for an undefined period of time before he brings her back before the court to ask if she has changed her mind about complying with his order to grant same-sex licenses.
The lawyer said that he is making plans to meet with Davis to decide next-steps in the case.
“There’s no bail,” Staver said. “He’s just putting her behind bars and treating her as a criminal.”

In 2007, Bunning was part of a three-judge panel on a federal appeals court to overturn a Michigan ban on partial-birth abortion, determining the language of the law to be overly broad with the potential to outlaw other legal types of abortion.
In 2003, Judge Bunning ordered the Boyd County Kentucky School District to allow the Gay-Straight Alliance, a student group, to meet on school grounds.
Boyd County held training sessions on avoiding anti-gay harassment, and penalized students with unexcused absences for not showing up. When parents sued the school district, Bunning ruled in favor of the school district.

A random man who approached microphones that were setup for a Friday afternoon press conference to address the arrest of Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis warned members of the media that “destruction is coming on America.”
The man, who was carrying Bible-themed signage and a flagpole, while donning a long beard and cowboy hat, delivered an impromptu address about sin and the law just minutes before attorneys for Davis were scheduled to address her arrest.
Standing before an audience of journalists, he shared his wide-ranging views on religious themes, “loneliness on the streets” and “tyranny.”

“When they’re willing and able to arrest someone, it’s called tyranny,” he said, going on to also discuss spiritual issues. “We all gonna die. The word of God says, ‘Your life is like a vapor’ … we never know when we’re going to die.”
The man directly told the media that they are important to the nation, but seemingly accused them of not doing their jobs.
“This country was formed as a Christian nation,” he said, seemingly warning about the cost of sin. “I’m warning you: destruction is coming on America.”

Prayers for Kim Davis. I've heard there is another that has refused to issue marrage licenses in Ky.

This is just a small sample of what is to come.

Amen. Praying for Mrs. Davis and her family and legal team. Praying also that the Holy Spirit moves and finally wakes the church up to stand up, pray up, and then march up until its acknowledged there is no authority to do this.
