This flotilla incident could well be the triggering mechanism for the Middle East to erupt (If so, who would have ever guessed?).
We now see continued threats against Israel:
"Iran Offers Military Escort to Ships Breaking Gaza Blockade"
Iran's Revolutionary Guards are willing to provide a military escort to cargo ships trying to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza, a spokesman for Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was quoted as saying Sunday. The news was carried by Reuters, quoting Iranian news agency Mehr.
"Iran's navy forces are ready to escort the peace flotilla to Gaza with all their powers and capabilities," announced Ali Shirazi, Khamenei's representative inside the Revolutionary Guards.
"If the Supreme Leader issues an order for this then the Revolutionary Guard naval forces will do their best to secure the ships," Shirazi said. "It is Iran's duty to defend the innocent people of Gaza."
"Iran Revolutionary Guards ready to escort Gaza ships"
"Iran's Revolutionary Guards naval forces are fully prepared to escort the peace and freedom convoys to Gaza with all their powers and capabilities," Ali Shirazi, Khamenei's representative inside the Revolutionary Guards, was quoted as saying by the semi-official Mehr news agency.
Any intervention by the Iranian military would be considered highly provocative by Israel which accuses Iran of supplying weapons to Hamas, the Islamist movement which rules Gaza.
If Iran sends in their military ships, things will get ugly quick. This author from pajamasmedia believes that Iran would rather (as usual) use their new proxy - Turkey:
"Iran Joins the Flotilla, NOT"
The Iranians have announced that “if the Supreme Leader gives the word,” the Iranian Navy will accompany future flotillas to Gaza.
He’s not going to start a real fight that he’d quickly lose, thereby precipitating the fall of his regime.
What about the Turks? Daniel Jackson thinks Erdogan is serious about using the flotilla incident as causus belli and that Turkey is preparing to go to war against Israel. I am no expert on Turkey, but I am prepared to consider the possibility that the Iranians have urged him to attack, and that they swear to Allah that they’ve got his back. It would be folly to believe the mullahs, who love to gull others into doing their dirty work, but Erdogan might be dreaming crazy dreams about being the great liberator, taking back the Holy Land, and reconstituting the Empire/Caliphate.
Yes it’s crazy. But the world is full of crazies. And the United States is absent, thereby giving the crazies license to act on their nutty visions.
So will Turkey invade Israel?
"The Whole World Is Watching"
It is clear that Erdogan has no intention of pulling back from the brink. He means what he says that he intends to break the Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza. Now, the Jerusalem Post reports that Iran's Revolutionary Guard says they want to go along for a ride. He has islamified his control of the Army and Intelligence upper ranks with loyal cronies so a coup from secular forces is a pipe dream.
This is not a game theory scenario. This is real. Already Erdogan is spending millions to prepare new ships to head to Israel. The man is spoiling for a fight. His verbiage makes absolutely no sense to Western circles; but, it is perfectly clear to his audience and their normative system. The pragmatic objective is to destroy Israel. This is not paranoia. He is not interested in a "fair" inquiry; in fact, he is loathe to anything of the sort. The man means war.
Israel has many aces up its sleave. It has gone round and round with Turkey in war games so both sides know what to expect. The stakes are higher now because Israel's strike will be followed by the missile barrages from Gaza and Lebanon. Everyone will be involved.
Mr. President Barack Hussein Obama MUST determine which side he is on. He has been elected to the post of commander in chief. War is coming in no uncertain terms. How will Mr. President react? Will he hold back and let Iran take out a carrier or two? Will he permit a Turkish Iranian invasion of Gaza? How much destruction of Israeli cities and population will he permit before he can behoove himself to act?
It is worth repeating the story below, as it seems very important right now - this report which seems to bolster the view that Turkey is itching for a fight:
"Turkish PM vows to personally break Israeli blockade"
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has led the international campaign to discredit Israel in the aftermath of its seizing of a flotilla of terrorist-backed aid ships to Gaza. Now Erdogan has vowed to personally sail to Gaza and break Israel's maritime blockade of the Hamas-ruled territory.
Lebanese newspaper Al-Mustaqbal cited Turkish sources "in the know" who said Erdogan is seriously considering joining the next flotilla of ships to Gaza.
He may also order a squad of Turkish Navy gunships to accompany the next flotilla and give the Israelis a real showdown at sea.
Turkey - Iran - Russia. For the first time since the prophecies were written, we see this alliance now formed and growing stronger by the day. United in hatred of Israel, just as biblical prophecy dictates.
Who will start the fight? There is no telling, but whoever lights the powder-keg will unleash the events of the lasts series of wars in the Middle East, which lead into and continue during the Tribulation. Things are happening ominously fast right now in the region.
I can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah.

The EU foreign policy chief is reportedly being sidelined by the Spanish EU/WEU presidency; note use of "Gaza seige" instead of "Gaza blockade":

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - France and the UK have proposed that the EU should monitor cargo entering the Gaza strip from Israel, with Spain, Portugal and Ireland also coming forward with fresh initiatives in the wake of the flotilla attack.

Yes, I had seen that, and had it in my list of articles.
It is ALWAYS of interest when the EU becomes involved in any aspect of the "peace process" in the ME.
Thanks for the article highlights, it is indeed most interesting.

In the guessing game of who attacks Israel first, I rule out Iran and Turkey simply because they do not have a direct border with Israel; if the Psalm 83 list of nations is considered to be those who attack before Gog/Magog.

I tend to agree - but Turkey could stir the pot and then have the "proxies" take over initially (Psa 83), which would lead into Gog-MaGog.
It seems that they are attempting to "trigger" events by getting the muslims whipped into a frenzy - but I agree, the proxies will tangle first, and then we;ll see Gog-MaGog
