Rocket sirens heard in Beersheba, and other towns across southern and central Israel

 The Times of Israel is liveblogging Sunday’s events as they unfold.


Rocket sirens are sounding across southern and central Israel.

For the first time in this round of fighting, sirens are sounding in Beersheba.

Several interceptions by the Iron Dome air defense system are seen in the south. Beersheba Mayor Ruvik Danilovich says two rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Residents of some Gaza border towns told to shelter amid signs of coming rocket fire

Due to indications of imminent rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, the Eshkol Regional Council instructs residents of some towns to remain in shelters until further notice.

The towns affected by this order are in the Tzohar Bloc and Hevel Shalom area, near the tri-border with Gaza and Egypt.
