Two Separate Airstrikes Into Syria - Golan Area And Along Mediterranean Coast

State media says IDF helicopters struck Quneitra in Syrian Golan Heights but that no damage or injuries incurred; comes day after attack attributed to Israel killed 1, injured 6

The IDF reportedly bombed targets in Syria after midnight on Thursday in what would be the second such strike in less than 24 hours.

State media SANA reported that Israeli helicopters bombed the Quneitra border town in the Syrian Golan Heights, claiming that no injuries or damages were incurred.

The IDF declined to comment on the reported strikes, in accordance with its policy to neither confirm nor deny its operations in Syria, save for those in retaliation for an attack from the country.

Early Wednesday, SANA reported that an Israeli aircraft carried out airstrikes in northern Syria that killed one person and wounded six others. It was the first alleged attack since raids last month that saw an errant Syrian anti-aircraft missile explode in the Negev desert.

Syrian air defenses engaged Israeli missiles near the port city of Latakia in northern Syria and Hama in the West in the Wednesday strike, according to SANA. The report said the casualties were civilians.

Videos posted to social media showed a large fire and several loud explosions at the scene of the blast.

SANA said the site was a plastics factory. Israel has reportedly bombed sites connected to Iran’s alleged missile production and arms depots in the areas of Latakia and Hama before.

Then too, the IDF refused to comment on the late-night strikes.

1 killed, 6 injured in alleged Israeli airstrike targeting Syrian coast

The strike targeted a "civilian plastic warehouse," according to SANA.

Initial reports and video from the scene indicated that a large fire had

 broken out in the area.

An alleged Israeli airstrike targeted a site near Latakia and Tartus along Syria’s Mediterranean coast on Tuesday night, according to the Syrian state news agency SANA.

The strikes also hit the town of Haffah, east of the port city of Latakia, and Masyaf in Hama province.

A civilian was killed and six were injured, including a child, according to Syrian media.

The strike targeted a “civilian plastic warehouse,” according to SANA. Initial reports and video from the scene indicated that a large fire had broken out in the area.

Pictures published by SANA showed a largely destroyed structure on fire.

In 2018, a Russian military aircraft was shot down near Latakia by a Syrian S-200 air-defense missile during an Israeli airstrike. Russia expressed outrage at the incident at the time, placing the blame on Israel, while Israel blamed Syria.

Russia operates an air base in Latakia and a naval base in Tartus.

The last alleged Israeli airstrikes in Syria were reported late last month after a surface-to-air missile was fired from Syria and exploded near the nuclear reactor in Dimona in southern Israel. The missile was reportedly fired in response to an alleged Israeli strike in Syria.
