The circumstances surrounding the strike that occurred early Friday evening near Rafah in the northern Sinai Peninsula, in which (it appears) that five Islamic terrorists were killed, are still unclear. Particularly elusive are the facts regarding who perpetrated the strike. Initial reports published by the Palestinian Ma’an news agency and then later by AP cited Egyptian officials in El-Arish who said that an Israeli drone fired missiles at a storage site for long-range missiles. They said the strike took place near the Kerem Hashalom crossing, and in the triangle between the Israeli, Egyptian and Gazan border.
Senior Israeli officials refused to confirm or deny any connection between the IDF and the strike. They only spoke in general terms about the continuing Egyptian campaign in the Sinai against al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organizations.
If there was an Israeli strike on Egyptian territory, it would signal the first time that Israel has operated (openly) there since the signing of the peace treaty between the two countries in 1979. However, in the hours following the purported strike, there was a concerted Egyptian effort to restore calm. Egyptian sources told AP that the strike was conducted in coordination between Tel Aviv and Cairo.
Also, a senior Egyptian official who spoke to The Times of Israel insisted it wasn’t Israel that struck the Global Jihad cell. According to him, Egyptian military helicopters were responsible for the strike, as part of Egypt’s effort to prevent terrorists from firing at Israel.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident was related to Egyptian warnings conveyed yesterday to Israel that led to the temporary closure of the Eilat airport. According to him, the strike was successful in neutralizing the very same cell that sought to attack Israel.
An Israeli Air Force drone reportedly struck a jihadist rocket launcher in the Sinai Peninsula near the Israeli-Egyptian border, killing four suspected terrorists who were planning to launch missiles at Israel, Egyptian security sources told Reuters on Friday.
Details of the strike remain unclear. Five different security sources told Reuters the strike was done by Israel, while an Egyptian army spokesman issued a statement on Facebook several hours after the strike denying Israel was behind it. Israeli officials, meanwhile, declined to comment on the reports.
One source said that the Israeli aircraft had observed the militants preparing three rocket launchpads to hit Israel. It launched a missile, killing two men, then killed another pair who stepped up to the pads after the first strike.
Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that a large explosion was heard on Friday afternoon in Rafah, near the Kerem Shalom border crossing. The Egyptian military said there had been two explosions west of the international border 3 km (two miles) from Al Agra on Friday evening but gave no further details.
Egyptian soldiers were searching the area in the North Sinai region to find out more, Egyptian army spokesman Ahmed Ali said in a statement.
AFP cited Egyptian sources as saying the IDF coordinated the attack with the Egyptian authorities, but an Egyptian military spokesman denied that report as well.
"The claim that there exists coordination between the Egyptian and the Israeli side in this matter is a matter completely void of truth," he said.
The red light Washington has been showing Jerusalem regarding an Israeli air strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities has changed color recently, according to the previous head of Israeli military intelligence.
“The American stance on an Israeli strike has changed dramatically recently,” retired Gen. Amos Yadlinsaid in an interview on Israel Army Radio on Wednesday. “The music I’ve been hearing lately from Washington says ‘If this is truly an overriding Israeli security interest, and you think you want to strike,” then the light hasn’t changed to green, I think, but it’s definitely yellow.”

The Jyllands-Posten quotes David Hathaway:
Suddenly even the greenest of media outlets among us are contemplating what the consequences of a quiet sun may be. The JP then quotes Irish solar specialist Ian Elliott, who says these consequences could be dramatic:
Elliott then cites the ice-cold winters of 2009 and 2010 as early signs.
JP then cites at length Danish astrophysicist Henrik Svensmark, who needs no introduction:
Since the 1940s and up to 10 years ago we have had the highest solar activity in 1000 years. The last time we had solar activity that high was when we had the Medieval Warm Period from year 1000 to around 1300. … Historically there has been a close connection between solar activity and temperature for the last 1000 years. Therefore the sun’s activity will also have influence the coming many years. … The unusual thing right now is that sun’s activity is decreasing while there’s a great increase in atmospheric CO2. For that reason the question is how much the earth will cool in a time of decreasing solar activity. … The development is beautifully consistent with a cooling effect of the solar activity in the same period. This could mean that the temperature will not rise for the next 30 years or maybe begin to decrease.”

And yet, despite all the ODDS against a deal, an INTERIM deal
is very likely. Israel needs to
know that the EU is DEAD SERIOUS
about that fund cut off starting
01 JAN 14, and I would think that
would concern ALL citizens in Israel....ie...referendum.....
really
Nonetheless, the dow is at RECORDS
people are very BULLISH, and
Bernanke is considered to be a GOD
in his own right.
14 AUG is critical. IF a DEAL comes
out of that (even an interim) then
1 THESS 5 comes into play very
quickly.
I TRULY BELIEVE that there was
A VERY SERIOUS reason why Paul
had that prophecy. It is SCRIPTURE
and it is REAL..........
think about it.

Stephen - Its nothing specific - I just have a feeling that although I don't see these peace talks as going anywhere, I do believe that something they do (with this current round of talks) will help pave the way for the AC when he confirms Dan 9:27.....No idea what it will be - but the fact that we're so close to the Trib approaching, its hard NOT to see something coming out of this which will ultimately help the AC when he arrives on the scene.
