Persecution Continues - A Reminder

The Voice of the Martyrs: CHINA: Letter From Yang Hua

[I need to make it a habit to visit "Voice Of The Martyrs" daily, as there are often stories like this. Let's remember to include these brothers and sisters who are being actively persecuted, in our daily prayers. This story is both tragic and uplifting at the same time.]

What’s it like to hear from your pastor husband, who has spent nearly a year in prison? Pastor Yang Hua was abducted by Chinese police Dec. 9, 2015 and accused of “divulging state secrets”. Yang has not yet gone to trial, but his words to his wife reveal both a glimpse into a man concerned for his wife and a man whose confident hope rests in the Lord.

My dear wife: Greetings!
I have received all of your letters: the first on Oct. 5 and the second on Nov. 8, which were written on Oct. 4 and 14.
My scabies were healed. Around Sept. 20, I was taken to a doctor who applied sulfur ointment all over my body. Finally, it healed. I have the same experience as Job. My fatty liver disease was diagnosed in prison. The suffering is bearable. The Lord has grace. The canker sore has not returned since May of this year. Thank God. There is not anything wrong with my eyes or waist either. You need not worry about my health. Now, I sleep well.
The reason why I did not reply to your letter in a timely manner is that I wanted to answer them together after the second letter arrived.
Pray and wait for God. My heart is calm and quiet, and it has no anxiety.
I can use sulfur soap inside the detention center, because God is kind in this way. I have enough clothes, as well as winter clothes, and I don’t feel cold at all. I have 3,500 Yuan [$512.00], which can last for a half year. It’s no use worrying about these things. You need not come to deposit money for me any time soon. It is not convenient for you to take a bus, and you won’t be able to see me. Some brothers and sisters came to deposit money for me. You just take care of our sons and our home. Mu’en’s birthday is on Nov. 17 and should be celebrated. Buy his favorite cheesecake and share with Xiangen. Wish him well on my behalf.
When using electricity this winter, pay attention to safety and remember to shut it off before you leave. My mom would always forget.

After reading your letter, I know some of your concerns. Praise the Lord by singing the song “The Sun above the Clouds.” The Lord has prepared this [song] for you and me. I sang it many times and am so joyful. I am sharing it with you. Never see the dark clouds covering the sky and always see the sun above the clouds. When you take a plane, you will see the sunshine all over the world, after it breaks through the clouds.
Never be dejected and despondent, always look up at our Lord, and always keep the spiritual life above the chaos of the real environment. Rest in God’s arms. “Some rely on chariots, some on horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord,” [Psalm 20:7]. Be upright and take care. Be prepared for the rest of the road. I will go with you. If the Lord doesn’t allow it, not a single hair [from your head] will drop to the floor.
You need not take [sermon] notes when you copy the hymns; the Bible, which I memorized by heart, always comes to me. I have plenty of time inside for meditation and prayer. This is the best preparation. Recently, I’ve often been reciting Nehemiah, Ezra, and Esther. Esther could have gone back to Jerusalem in order to build the city wall, [traveling] from the alien country to which [the Israelites] were carried off. Esther didn’t become extinct but turned into a [safety net], turning those days into a time of celebration.
[God] is so great and wonderful; who can be like Him? Our wonderful God, our Lord forever. Who can guess His wisdom and mystery? Our faith is built on His words (He never changes and never does wrong; this is the unchangeable maxim). Sometimes, somebody will decide something by guessing and then [testing their theory], but we don’t. We listen more to God and less to human beings, especially to [nonsensical] noise.
Greet everybody on my behalf and thank them for worrying about me. Encourage and give hope to each other in the days that God has prepared for us.
Your husband, who is always missing you.
Nov. 8, 2016
Motto: We should have this feeling every day. Proverbs says, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” [Proverbs 17:22]. Spend every day that God gives us with a joyful heart. May it be common wisdom to encourage ourselves. Amen!

San Bernardino Pastor Arrested For Offering Prayer

San Bernardino: Pastor Arrested for offering Prayer

Last month, Father James Linton was arrested outside the San Bernardino Planned Parenthood for offering to pray with women entering the abortion facility. Police held him for six hours and cited him for interfering with and obstructing access to a business. On November 2, the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office formally charged Linton, accusing him of violating Penal Code section 602.1 (a) (Interference with a Business). If convicted, Fr. Linton could be sentenced to up to 90 days in jail and a $400 fine.

When he was arrested, Fr. Linton, an Anglican pastor, was standing on a public easement offering incoming mothers and fathers alternatives to abortion and praying for them to change their minds. "The arrest of Fr. Linton is outrageous," stated Allison Aranda, Senior Staff Counsel for the Life Legal Defense Foundation and a former prosecutor for Riverside County. "Fr. Linton certainly did not intend to interfere with Planned Parenthood's ability to conduct its business. Rather, he simply offered assistance and alternatives to its patrons that could save the lives of their precious babies."

Last year, the Center for Medical Progress released the videos of its undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood. At the time, Fr. Linton's wife was pregnant with their third child. "The combination of seeing abortion victims sorted through for parts and my wife being pregnant destroyed me," he said. "She organized a protest and I've been in front of the clinic every Friday since."

Every Friday, starting at 6 a.m., the San Bernardino Planned Parenthood performs abortions up to 20 weeks of pregnancy. Due in part to Fr. Linton's faithful presence and success at saving babies, the abortion facility recently built a wall in an attempt to hinder sidewalk counselors and prevent them from speaking to mothers and fathers in the parking lot.

Fr. Linton and the other sidewalk counselors outside the San Bernardino Planned Parenthood are doing nothing more than exercising their Constitutional right to speak freely on the public sidewalk and rights of way in their community. They are not violating the law. "In fact, the code section under which Fr. Linton was charged, specifically exempts from criminal liability, those who are engaging in activities that are protected by the California and United States Constitution," Ms. Aranda noted.

Life Legal will vigorously defend Fr. Linton from these false charges and we will fight to preserve and protect the rights of all sidewalk counselors to share life saving information with mothers entering the San Bernardino abortion clinic.

Russian Warships Anchor Off Crimea, New Foreign Policy Concept Calls For Broad Anti-Terror Coalition,

Russian warships anchor off Crimea as Ukraine begins missile testing

VLADIMIR Putin's warships have been dispatched to Crimea's western coastline in response to the start of Ukrainian missile tests nearby, as tensions in the region reach fever pitch.

Vessels from Russia's Black Sea Fleet have taken up position near the disputed Crimean peninsula - which was illegally annexed from Ukraine in 2014 - to help strengthen the air defences.
The aggressive land grab plunged Ukraine-Russia and east-west relations to their lowest point in years and threatened a new Cold War.
Kiev began two days of missile tests today, angering Russia, which has put its air defence forces on high alert.
Moscow has warned that the war games will not disrupt international flights.
A military source in Crimea told the Reuters news agency: “Warships of the Black Sea Fleet have taken up positions near Crimea's western coast for the duration of Ukraine's planned missile tests from December 1-2.
“The ship's air defence units have been put on a higher state of alert.
“Their equipment is designed in the first instance to shoot down heavy anti-ship missiles and cruise missiles.

Ukrainian forces conducted 16 successful launches of S-300 medium-range surface-to-air missiles during the drills, presidential spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko said in a Facebook post.
“The Defense Ministry and the General Staff chief have just reported to the president on today’s drills, which were successfully completed. Sixteen Ukrainian missiles were launched. All of them have reached their targets,” Tsegolko said.
Kryzhanovsky said that there had been no response to the launches from the Russian side. He noted that the missiles will come as close as 30 kilometers to Crimean airspace. The missiles are being launched from a spot some 90 kilometers from Crimea’s shores. The Ukrainian military stressed that its current exercises pose no danger to the residents of the Crimean Peninsula.
Still, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Ukrainian missile tests near Crimea were a "dangerous precedent," as cited by Interfax.
Russian ships from the Black Sea Fleet have taken up positions to the west of the Crimean Peninsula to provide air defense over Russian territory, RIA Novosti news agency reports, citing sources in the military.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree approving the concept of Russia's foreign policy. The document updates and revises key areas, goals, and tasks of the country's foreign policy to reflect the changes on the international arena in the past three years.

Russia's new foreign policy concept calls for the creation of a broad anti-terrorist coalition amid a global terrorist threat posed by Daesh.

"The creation of a broad international anti-terrorist coalition on a solid legal foundation, based on efficient and systematic cooperation, without political maneuvering and double-standard policies…must become a priority [for international community]."

The document says Russia considers the fight against international terrorism as "a very important state task."
The document also says that Russia stands for the peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict, the country's territorial integrity, independence and unity.

Jimmy Carter Urges Barack Obama To Divide Israel/Jerusalem At The UN Before January 20, Article: Jimmy Carter's Anti-Semitism

Jimmy Carter Urges Barack Obama To Divide The Land Of Israel At The United Nations Before January 20th

In an absolutely stunning editorial for the New York Times, former president Jimmy Carter has publicly called for Barack Obama to divide the land of Israel at the United Nations before Inauguration Day. While he was president, Carter negotiated peace between Israel and Egypt, and ever since that time he has been a very strong advocate for a Palestinian state. Carter is completely convinced that a “two-state solution” will bring lasting peace to the Middle East, but now that Donald Trump has been elected Carter knows that his dream of seeing a Palestinian state while he is still alive is rapidly slipping away. In a desperate attempt to salvage the situation, Carter is urging Barack Obama to take bold action while he still has the power to do so.
In his New York Times editorial, one of the steps that Carter says that Obama should take is to give formal U.S. diplomatic recognition to a Palestinian state…

I am convinced that the United States can still shape the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict before a change in presidents, but time is very short. The simple but vital step this administration must take before its term expires on Jan. 20 is to grant American diplomatic recognition to the state of Palestine, as 137 countries have already done, and help it achieve full United Nations membership.

He urged Obama to support a UN Security Council resolution that would set forth firm parameters for resolving the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians…

The Security Council should pass a resolution laying out the parameters for resolving the conflict. It should reaffirm the illegality of all Israeli settlements beyond the 1967 borders, while leaving open the possibility that the parties could negotiate modifications. Security guarantees for both Israel and Palestine are imperative, and the resolution must acknowledge the right of both the states of Israel and Palestine to live in peace and security. Further measures should include the demilitarization of the Palestinian state, and a possible peacekeeping force under the auspices of the United Nations.

In a previous article, I discussed what the three main pillars of such a resolution would probably look like…

1. It would give formal UN Security Council recognition to a Palestinian state for the very first time.
2. It would grant East Jerusalem to the Palestinians as the capital of their new state.
3. It would establish the 1967 ceasefire lines as the basis for final negotiations for borders between the two states.
Such a UN Security Council resolution would be considered legally binding on the Israelis and the Palestinians. And the Trump administration would not be able to undo such a resolution because it would take another vote of the UN Security Council to revoke the resolution once it had been passed and that would not happen.

Right now the rest of the UN Security Council is ready to support this kind of resolution. The only thing that has been standing in the way has been the U.S. Security Council veto power, and there have already been rumblingsthat Obama may not exercise that veto power if a “parameters resolution” is put up for a vote before he leaves office.
And if Obama was going to make such a move, a really good way to drum up some public support for it would be to have a highly respected former president publish an editorial supporting the move in a highly visible newspaper such as the New York Times.
Over in Israel, the government has been ignoring Carter’s anti-Israel rants for years, and they have also responded to this latest editorial by Carter with silence…
As Carter’s criticism of Israel over the years has become increasingly scathing and one-sided, Jerusalem’s policy has been to largely ignore him. In line with this approach, neither the Prime Minister’s Office nor the Foreign Ministry had any response on Tuesday to his op-ed.

But without a doubt the Israelis are very concerned about what may happen next. They know the kind of damage that Barack Obama could do before we get to January 20th, and they are desperately hoping that Obama does not decide to do something exceedingly foolish. The following comes from the Jerusalem Post…

A number of European governments, as well as various think tanks, are talking with Obama administration officials, urging them to take some kind of action on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the waning days of the current presidency.
Among the suggestions are a new UN resolution laying down parameters for a peace deal; US support for the recognition of “Palestine” in the UN; or – at the very least – backing or abstaining on an anti-settlement resolution in the Security Council.
Israeli officials consistently maintain that they do not know what – if anything – Obama has planned. However, the fact that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continuously says – as he did on Sunday – that he expects Obama not to divert from traditional US policy on the matter, is an indication that there remains concern over the matter in Jerusalem.

From a Bible prophecy perspective, the division of the land of Israel is the number one event that we are watching for right now, and this is one of the reasons why I have labeled the period of time leading up to January 20th as “the danger zone."
There have been many that have warned that once we divide the land of Israel, our land will be divided as well. But in addition to the great earthquake that is coming to the center of our country, we also know that so many of the other major judgments that I warn about in The Rapture Verdict come after the land of Israel gets divided.
But even though the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have both been running stories about a potential UN Security Council resolution that would divide the land of Israel, and even though experienced politicians such as Jimmy Carter and John Bolton are making lots of noise about it, most people don’t seem to understand how immensely important this really is in the greater scheme of things.
But if Barack Obama does decide to make a move to divide the land of Israel at the United Nations at some point during the next several weeks, the consequences for this nation will be more severe than most people would dare to imagine.

Articles: Jimmy Carter's Anti-Semitism

It appears former president Jimmy Carter, now 92 years old, has yet to meet a tyrant he doesn’t admire.
His continuing embrace of terrorist regimes makes some wonder when we will see the cessation of his continual self-exhumations from political burial in order to once again resume his prophetic declamations on behalf of odious regimes, past and present. Carter’s latest declamation on the demise of the pitiless tyrant Fidel Castro reveals once again his lifelong empathy for totalitarian regimes:

“Rosalynn and I share our sympathies with the Castro family and the Cuban people on the death of Fidel Castro. We remember fondly our visits with him in Cuba and his love of his country. We wish the Cuban citizens peace and prosperity in the years ahead.”

Just as bad, if not worse, Carter wants Obama to recognize a Palestinian state before Barack Obama leaves office. His love for brutal despotism does not end with his affection for Castro, but extends to leaders who wish to exterminate Israel and the Jews.

“Carter has now stepped into the debate with an op-ed for the New York Times on Monday.
‘It has been President Obama’s aim to support a negotiated end to the conflict based on two states, living side by side in peace. That prospect is now in grave doubt,’ he [Carter] wrote. ‘I am convinced that the United States can still shape the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict before a change in presidents, but time is very short.
‘The simple but vital step this administration must take before its term expires on January 20 is to grant American diplomatic recognition to the state of Palestine as 137 nations have done, and help it achieve full United Nations membership.’

The fact of the matter is this: there has never been a Palestinian leader, including Mahmoud Abbas, who has not denied Israel’s right to exist; and who has not wanted to eliminate Israel the nation from the map. Education follows policy. It is well known that Harper Collins publishes textbooks with illustrations of the Middle East completely erase Israel from the map.

In view of the constant antipathy toward Israel by the Palestinians and Hamas; and given his supposedly peace-loving nature, how did Carter arrive at his anti-Semitism?

For one thing, Carter is a believer in replacement theology; that is, that the Christian church replaces Israel and that Israel no longer holds a special place in covenant theology. Israel is just another nation and people. This false doctrine has been the basis of deleterious and sometimes fatal foreign policy involving Jews and Israel. Carter’s realpolitik favors current demographics and the global order embraced by the U.N., which partly explains his appeal to President Obama to recognize Palestine. Carter’s globalist vision and belief in supra-national entities as the way for the future replace the Christian vision of the kingdom of God.

Replacement theology has dangerous, even fatal implications for Israel and the Jews. Certainly, replacement theology has contributed to anti-Semitism, including Carter’s implacable hatred of Israel.

Many Christians, particularly American evangelicals and members of the Reformed denominations in the U.S., reject replacement theology entirely, believing in the inseparable link between Judaism and Christianity; and believing in the unity of the Old and New Testaments. Evangelicals and those of the Reformed faith hold with St. Paul, who as a Jew believing in Christ as the long-promised Messiah, taught that the Jews still had a covenantal bond with God; and that Christianity, far from being an entirely new sect, owed its genesis to Judaism. Christians, Paul, and other apostles wrote, regard Christ as the fulfillment of all that went before and as the promise of the future. They were and are merely grafted into the older vine that was Judaism.
The above is why so many evangelicals and those of the Reformed faith support Israel and her right to exist and flourish as a nation. They will not sever their spiritual roots. Nor will they embrace a secular globalist vision at the expense of Israel and the Jews.
Let us hope and pray the incoming Trump administration strengthens America's alliance with Israel, repudiating Carter’s and the Left’s onus toward her; and may it also cherish and reinforce the priceless heritage Western civilization has in both Judaism and Christianity.

Literal Interpretation Of The Bible Leads To Fastest Growing Churches, Mass Movement Of Muslims Coming To Christ

Fastest Growing Churches Teach Literal Interpretation Of The Bible

We have all read the headlines: Church attendance is shrinking and Christians are losing their faith. What those headlines often don't reveal is which churches are in decline and why.

Now, a recent study has shed some new light on the difference between the churches that have seen their membership drop and those that have seen incredible growth in recent years.

The short version: churches that preach a literal interpretation of God's word to an enthusiastic congregation continue to expand. On the other hand, the mainline protestant churches that have progressively diluted or reinterpreted God's word have suffered losses of membership.

Previous studies had downplayed the role of theology in declining church membership, but new research conducted with 2,225 churchgoers in Ontario, Canada disputes those findings.

The study included 29 interviews with clergy and 195 interviews with members of church congregations as well and both theology and active church participation stand out as the key factors of a church's status.

More specifically, those churches that interpret the Bible literally and maintain a focus on evangelism are thriving. The paper will be published in the upcoming issue of the academic journal Review of Religious Research.

David Haskell, the lead researcher, stated that "if we are talking solely about what believe system is more likely to lead to numerical growth among Protestant churches, the evidence suggests conservative Protestant theology is the clear winner."

He went on to emphasize that the growing churches in the study "held more firmly to the traditional beliefs of Christianity and were more diligent in things like prayer and Bible reading." Age of the congregation was an ancillary growth factor as well as the less

traditional use of drums and other less-traditional musical instruments in worship services.

The most powerful factor, however, was the belief system. Haskell's research into social groups indicates, not surprisingly, that churches with a consistent, unified message and clear boundaries between outsiders are more attractive to people both in the church and outside.

* The statement "it is very important to encourage non-Christians to become Christians" was affirmed by 50% of the members of declining churches and 100% of the members of growing churches

* The belief that "Jesus rose from the dead with a real flesh-and-blood body leaving behind an empty tomb" is held by 93% of clergy and 83% of members of growing churches but only 56% of clergy and 67% of members from declining churches.

* A belief in miracles and that God answers prayers is held by 100% of clergy and 90% of believers in growing churches while churches in decline only report that 80% of clergy and 44% of worshippers hold this belief.

* Daily Bible reading is practiced by 71% of the clergy in growing churches and 19% in declining churches

* Weekly Bible reading is practiced by 46% of the members of growing churches and 26% in declining churches

Clearly, conservative theology and values are winning hearts to Christ as their church attendance grows along with their faith.

Meanwhile, liberal mainline churches continue to decline, losing membership as they have drifted away from God's clear message of salvation.

Millions Of Muslims Are Giving Their Lives Over To Christ And It Is Becoming So Huge That The Muslim World Can Barely Hide It Any Longer

While the Christianity fights for survival in the West, the light of Faith is rising in the Muslim world. In spite of all the terrorism, violence, threats, and evils of Islam, millions of Muslims are giving their lives over to Christ and it is becoming so huge the Muslim world cannot hide it any longer:
According to a Christian convert named Reza, in 1994 there were about 100,000 Christ followers in Iran. “Right now, there are 3 million,” he told CBN News.
Reza believes this is the handiwork of the Holy Spirit that is sweeping over the predominantly Muslim Middle East country of more than 79 million people.
CBN News recently met and talked with Reza and other Iranian believers outside of their country in central Turkey where they have been forced to flee to avoid persecution in their native land.
The Christian news outlet found them possessing an “infectious and joyous faith,” clapping their hands and cheering like fans at a World Cup match when someone gets baptised in their house church.
These are the Iranians who show that their country has two sides—one showing hatred to America and the other showing love for Jesus Christ and, yes, to America and Israel as well.
Reza said many of his countrymen, just like him, have turned to Christ by way of dreams or visions.
“I had a dream. I had a dream long time back and every time that Jesus was with me,” he said. “And in all of my life, He was helping me and I didn’t know who was this Person. Suddenly Jesus Christ was over there and He said, ‘Come to Me.’ And I came to that side and He accepted me.”

Raizal, Reza’s sister, said she joined her brother in fleeing Iran because of the “really bad situation there.”
“I couldn’t pray [to] God with all my heart because all trouble was there. Even if I say ‘Jesus Christ,’ they may kill me,” she said.
But despite the risk of arrest, detention and even death, believers inside Iran still keep the faith, their fellow Christian countrymen in Turkey said. (source)

Make no mistake, this revolution taking place is not just in Iran - it is all over the Muslim world.
Almost ten years ago, Al-Jazeera did an interview with the famous Libyan sheikh and Muslim missionary Ahmad Al-Qata’ni, and he said that in spite of the pious and bold words spoken by Muslims, Islam was facing grave threat and was in decline in Africa. Thanks to the work of Christian missionaries, he said that there was a possibility that Islam could actually disappear from many parts of Africa in a matter of decades:

In Africa, the conversions are so numerous that entire villages are apostatizing.
In Iran, as this article discusses, there are massive numbers of “underground” believers.
In Lebanon, going on the word of a phalangist colleague who has worked extensively with Muslims, the Catholic masses are full each week, but the clear majority are Muslims, who go because they believe in Christ and are actively seeking the way out of Islam.
Even in nations like Turkey, which are very anti-Christian, a missionary colleague of mine reports that there are many Muslims who have a secret interest in Christianity, but who are deathly scared of their neighbors around them, and so speak to him in secret about it.

This must be remembered in Europe, in the light of the manufactured “immigration” crisis. While there are many, many evil people, there are also Muslims who are becoming Christians there. Reports suggest that many of the European churches are finally filling up, and not with Muslims, but with former Muslims turned Christians.
For all of the hatred which Islam has for Christianity, the battle is not against men but, for the souls of men, including our gravest enemies. It is why sacred scripture so clearly states to love your enemies and pray for them so that you may be children of your Father in Heaven, not to generate hatred against men to achieve secular pagan political aims for the purpose of money and power.
