Are earthquakes becoming more frequent and more powerful? With only two months to go, we are on pace to have more earthquakes of magnitude-5.0 or greater this year than we have had during any other year over the past decade by far.

In fact, as you will see in this article, since the year 2000 there has been a very clear upward trend in the number of major earthquakes. So is this an indication that major earth changes are coming? Is our planet becoming increasingly unstable?

We are currently witnessing tremendous political, social and financial upheaval all over the globe.

Every week the economic crisis in the United States and elsewhere seems to get even worse. So what is going to happen if the shaking of the earth becomes even more intense and major cities all over the planet start getting leveled?

For most of human history we have seriously underestimated the awesome destructive power of natural disasters, and the fact that the number of earthquakes around the world seems to be going up consistently should be a huge wake up call for all of us.

These days powerful earthquakes happen so frequently that most people hardly notice them anymore.

In 2001, there were 1361 earthquakes of magnitude-5.0 or greater around the globe. This year, we are on pace to have nearly twice as many.

In 2011, we are on pace to have more than 2600 earthquakes of magnitude-5.0 or greater.

Is something going on that we should be alarmed about?

Well, nobody knows exactly what is going on, but clearly there has been an increase in seismic activity all over the globe.

We live in very unusual times.

It seems like everything that can be shaken is being shaken.

Let us hope that the earth calms down for a while and that the number of major earthquakes begins to stabilize again.

But there is no guarantee that is going to happen.

In fact, many believe that this is only just the beginning.

For the second time in four days, Iran has threatened to annihilate Israel. Sunday, Nov. 6, Tehran said four missiles would be enough to kill a million Israelis.

Wednesday, Nov. 9, Gen. Masoud Jazayeri, deputy commander of Iran's armed forces, said an American or Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would not only result in the Jewish state's extinction "Dimona is the most accessible target" - but generate a response that "would not be limited to the Middle East."

DEBKAfile's military sources interpret this to mean a missile attack on American bases in Europe and US Sixth Fleet vessels in the Mediterranean.

Israel may launch strike on Iran as soon as next month

Israel will launch military action to prevent Iran developing a nuclear weapon as soon as Christmas, intelligence chiefs have warned.

A report by a UN watchdog into Iran’s nuclear ambitions ‘completely discredits’ the Islamic nation’s protestations of innocence, according to Foreign Secretary William Hague.

Sources say the understanding at the top of the British Government is that Israel will attempt to strike against the nuclear sites ‘sooner rather than later’ – with logistical support from the U.S.

A senior Foreign Office figure has revealed that ministers have been told to expect Israeli military action, adding: ‘We’re expecting something as early as Christmas, or very early in the new year.’

Khamenei warns US, Israel against strike

Iran's Supreme Leader warned the United States and Israel on Thursday not to launch any military action against its nuclear sites, saying it would be met with "iron fists," state television reported.

"Our enemies, particularly the Zionist regime (Israel), America and its allies, should know that any kind of threat and attack or even thinking about any (military) action will be firmly responded to," Iranian television quoted Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying.

Oil price to hit $175-$200 if Israel attacks Iran

Oil prices could surge to $175-200 per barrel if Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities, leading to the closure of an important oil route, according to market observers. Tensions between the two arch foes have escalated after the International Atomic Energy Agency reported it had ‘credible’ evidence of Tehran’s nuclear weapons plan.

First nationwide Emergency Alert System test hits glitches

Problems were reported across the country during the first-ever nationwide test Wednesday of the Emergency Alert System, designed to allow the president to address the American people during a national emergency.
Some television and radio stations did not air the planned 30-second test at all. Some that aired it stayed with the signal longer than others.

The official called the failure rate of more than 10% "not insignificant," but said identifying problems "is why we have the test."

And if that isn’t enough, the Washington Post today called for the Internet to also be brought under the auspices of a government takeover switch. Whereas Winston Smith only had to put up with Big Brother lecturing him via telescreens, Americans will be peppered with propaganda from every conceivable direction.
