Another Powerful Eruption At Etna Volcano - Partial Airport Closure

Etna volcano strongly erupts forcing partial airport closure in Italy - Aviation ALERT RED


Another powerful eruption occurred at Etna’s NE crater on February 18, 2019, ejecting a volcanic plume several hundreds of meters in the air, and causing partial closure of the Catania International airport. Officials have raised the Aviation Color Code to Red.

Plumes of smoke continued to come out from Mount Etna near Catania in Sicily on Monday. 
The Aviation Color Code has been raised to Red and ash has caused partial closure of the Catania International Airport.
Etna, the largest of Italy’s three active volcanoes and the biggest in Europe, sits at 3,330 metres high (11,000 ft).
