Migrants Arrive At Mexico City Stadium, Thousands There, More Expected

Thousands of caravan migrants are arriving to a Mexico City stadium – here’s what it looks like

An NBC News reporter is documenting thousands of migrants arriving in Mexico City and heading to a stadium where they are receiving aid from the Mexican government and NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations).

“A report from Mexico City’s Palillo Stadium where thousands of migrants from the caravan have arrived and thousands more are expected,” tweeted Annie Rose Ramos, “tired doesn’t even begin to describe it.”

The migrants reportedly left Honduras with 1,000 members, but has swelled in size to as many 12,000, and now includes three other caravans. Mexico has offered them refugee status, including work permits, healthcare, and other aid, in return for their promise to settle in southern Mexico and abandon their trek.
The migrants refused.
“Three massive tents have been set up by Mexican authorities for people to sleep in like 4yo Ian – the tents are now full though, and many more people are expected in the coming hours,” Ramos tweeted.
