Afghanistan Quake Update: 200 Dead And Numbers Rising, The Calm Before The Storm

7.5 Mag Earthquake Hits Afghanistan: 200 Dead

A major earthquake struck the remote Afghan northeast on Monday, killing more than 200 people in Afghanistan and nearby northern Pakistan, injuring hundreds and sending shock waves as far as New Delhi, officials said.
The death toll could climb in coming days because communications were down in much of the rugged Hindu Kush mountain range where the quake was centered.
In one of the worst incidents, at least 12 girls were killed in a stampede to flee their school building in Taloqan, just west of Badakhshan province where the tremor’s epicenter was located.
“They fell under the feet of other students,” said Abdul Razaq Zinda, provincial head of the Afghan National Disaster Management Agency, who reported heavy damage in Takhar.
Shockwaves were felt in New Delhi in northern India and across northern Pakistan, where hundreds of people ran out of buildings as the ground rolled beneath them. No deaths were reported in India.
“We were very scared … We saw people leaving buildings, and we were remembering our God,” Pakistani journalist Zubair Khan said by telephone from the Swat Valley northwest of the capital Islamabad.
“I was in my car and, when I stopped my car, the car itself was shaking as if someone was pushing it back and forth.”
The United States and Iran were among countries that offered to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, which already depends heavily on foreign aid after decades of war that have wrecked its economy and infrastructure.
The quake was 213 km (132 miles) deep and centered 254 km (158 miles) northeast of Kabul in Badakhshan province. The U.S. Geological Survey initially measured the magnitude at 7.7, then revised it down to 7.5.
Just over a decade ago, a 7.6 magnitude quake in another part of northern Pakistan killed about 75,000 people.
In Afghanistan, where rescue and relief work is likely to be complicated by security threats created by an escalating Taliban insurgency, more than 50 people were reported dead in several provinces including Badakhshan, where hundreds were killed in mudslides last year.
Hundreds of houses were destroyed, creating additional hardship with wintry temperatures setting in.
In Pakistan, the head of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Agency, Amer Afaq said the death toll had reached 167, while military spokesman General Asim Bajwa said nearly 1,000 were injured.
Officials said most of the casualties had occurred in northern and northwestern regions bordering Afghanistan and the death toll was likely to rise.

Have you noticed that things have gotten eerily quiet in the month of October?  After the chaos of late August and early September, many had anticipated that we would be dealing with a full-blown financial collapse by now, but instead we have entered a period of “dead calm” in which things have become exceedingly quiet in almost every way that you can possibly imagine.  Other “watchmen” that I highly respect have made the exact same observation.  Even though the economic numbers are screaming that we have entered a global recession, they aren’t really make any headline news.  A whole host of major financial institutions around the planet are currently in danger of collapsing and creating the next “Lehman Brothers moment”, but none of them has imploded just yet.  And of course Barack Obama seems bound and determined to start World War III.  On Monday, it was announced that he is sending a guided missile destroyer into Chinese waters in the South China Sea.  The Chinese have already stated that they might just start shooting if this happens, but Barack Obama doesn’t seem to care.  But until the shooting actually begins, that is not likely to upset the current tranquility that we are enjoying either.

Unfortunately, this period of peace and quiet is not going to last for long, and most Americans know deep down that something is seriously wrong with our nation.  In fact, a new WND/Clout poll has found that 85.3 percent of all likely voters in the United States believe that our country is going in the wrong direction…

The poll found 92.6 percent of those who identified themselves as conservative believe the nation is on the wrong track. Among those who call themselves liberal, 90.9 percent said it is going the wrong direction.
When asked what they think of the American economy after seven years of Obama’s leadership and economic policies, nearly 80 percent described it as “very fragile” or “somewhat fragile.”
Self-identified Democrats, Republicans, liberals and conservatives were in general agreement, with about 75 percent to 80 percent describing the economy as “somewhat fragile” or “very fragile.”
But even though we are steamrolling in the wrong direction, we haven’t suffered any incredibly serious consequences for it yet.
For the moment, this is allowing the mockers to have a field day.  They are fully confident that Barack Obama and the Federal Reserve knew what they were doing after all, and they are gleefully taunting those of us that have been warning of the great disaster that is heading our way.
However, those that are wise are getting prepared.
I think that we could all learn some lessons from what Overstock.com Chairman Jonathan Johnson is doing. The following is an extended excerpt from a recent Zero Hedge article
One week ago Johnson, who is also candidate for Utah governor, spoke at the United Precious Metals Association, or UPMA, which we first profiled a month ago, and which takes advantage of Utah’s special status allowing the it to use gold as legal tender, offering gold and silver-backed accounts. As a reminder, the UPMA takes Federal Reserve Notes (or paper dollars) which it then translates into golden dollars (or silver). The golden dollars are based off the $50 one ounce gold coins produced by the Treasury of The United States. They are legal tender under the law and are protected as such.

What did Johnson tell the UPMA? Here are some choice quotes:

We are not big fans of Wall Street and we don’t trust them. We foresaw the financial crisis, we fought against the financial crisis that happened in 2008; we don’t trust the banks still and we foresee that with QE3, and QE4 and QE n that at some point there is going to be another significant financial crisis.
So what do we do as a business so that we would be prepared when that happens. One thing that we do that is fairly unique: we have about $10 million in gold, mostly the small button-sized coins, that we keep outside of the banking system. We expect that when there is a financial crisis there will be a banking holiday. I don’t know if it will be 2 days, or 2 weeks, or 2 months. We have $10 million in gold and silver in denominations small enough that we can use for payroll. We want to be able to keep our employees paid, safe and our site up and running during a financial crisis.
We also happen to have three months of food supply for every employee that we can live on.
Why would such a seemingly intelligent and successful CEO of a large Internet company do such things?
It is because he can see the writing on the wall.
This period of calm will not last.  A great storm is coming, and when it does arrive those that have not prepared for it are going to suffer tremendously.
Most people have no idea just how fragile our system really is.  Today, some of these “too big to fail” banks supposedly have trillions of dollars in assets, but if you want to withdraw $10,000 or more in cash you have got to give them 24 hours notice to get enough money
And with each passing day we see even more signs of the global economic slowdown that is emerging all around us.  For example, we just learned that the China Containerized Freight Index has dropped to the lowest level ever recorded.  China accounts for more global trade than anyone else, and so this is a very clear sign that global economic activity is slowing down dramatically…
But for those that don’t want to believe that hard times are on the way, they can take comfort in the eerie period of calm that we are experiencing right now.
What they don’t realize is that this truly is “the calm before the storm”, and the global economic crisis that is ahead of us is going to be far beyond what most people ever dared to imagine was possible.

The flooding of Europe by countless waves of refugees may be the result of the “strategic depopulation” of Syria carried out by opponents of the country’s government, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has suggested.

Transparency organization WikiLeaks has looked through its diplomatic cables and unearthed “an interesting speculation about the refugee movement,” Assange said in an interview with Geek news site, ThePressProject.

“So, the speculation was this: Occasionally opponents of a country would engage in strategic depopulation, which is to decrease the fighting capacity of a government,” he explained.

The whistleblower pointed out that “it’s predominantly the middle class that is fleeing” Syria on account of having “language skills, money, some connections.” Engineers, managers and civil servants are “precisely, the classes that ...[are] needed to keep the government functioning,” he said.

Syrian people are encouraged to flee their country “by Germany saying they’ll accept many-many refugees, and by Turkey taking nearly three million refugees, thus significantly weakening the Syrian government,” Assange stressed.
Syria isn’t the only case of migration being used as a weapon in recent history; during the Iraq War, Sweden told the US that “the acceptance of Iraqi refugees was part of its contribution,” according to cables.

The WikiLeaks founder said that it’s a “disgrace” that the US refuses to take in Syrian refuges because it’s Washington who should be held accountable for the hundreds of thousands of people arriving in Europe and making EU states close its borders with one other.

“The situation comes about as a result of the US, UK and French policy in the Middle East together with the behavior of US regional allies in the Middle East – Qatar, Turkey, Jordan and Israel… and Saudi Arabia,” he said.

High-ranking officials in the US and Europe often accuse Russia of targeting moderate opposition in its counterterrorism operation in Syria but no one has clearly explained who the Free Syrian Army is, where it is located or what it wants.

The FSA is as elusive as a proverbial black cat in a dark room… not only for outsiders and experts but for its own members as well. And here is why.

Russia is serious about preventing Islamic extremists from overrunning Syria and then spreading their reach beyond the Middle East. To that end Moscow is trying to recruit as many allies in its multinational efforts as possible, including regional and global stakeholders, both state and non-state groups.

Russia is already coordinating its multinational counterterrorism campaign with Syria, Iraq and Iran through an intelligence sharing center in Baghdad. It will soon launch a similar mechanism with Jordan in Amman. Anyone else willing to destroy terrorists in Syria is welcome to join, Russian officials repeat time and again.

On Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reaffirmed that Moscow was ready to provide aerial support to any patriotic opposition groups, including the Free Syrian Army. The only obstacle in the way is the precise location of FSA-affiliated rebels. Moscow does not have this information, although it has repeatedly asked anyone familiar with the FSA (including the United States and Great Britain) to provide it.

Other rebel leaders from FSA-affiliated groups made similar comments in response to Russia's proposal. They all reflect what many in Syria and some outside of it know: the Free Syrian Army is a small decentralized umbrella organization lacking unified leadership and with no real presence on the ground.

As a side note, Russian forces choose their targets in Syria based on its own intelligence, as well as data provided by Damascus, Tehran and Iraq.

"I am sure there is no Free Syrian Army because they refused to cooperate with and receive help from Russia as they are fighting ISIL and others. And at the same time they are ready to hold talks with Russia. What is the meaning of that? They want only a political role or political resolution in Syria because they know they have no real existence on the ground. They have no real forces, there is no Free Syrian Army," deputy director of the Damascus Center for International and Strategic Studies, Dr. Taleb Ibrahim, told Radio Sputnik.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov echoed this sentiment by saying that at the moment the Free Syrian Army has essentially "blended into" the terrorist crowd. "Some were scared, some joined ISIL or Jabhat al-Nusra for money. All the Syrians we talked to while trying to contact the Free Syrian Army say that it does not have a single leadership," he told RIA Novosti.

The strategic depopulation of Syria is very interesting. The big question is who will fill the void - is Turkey ready to swoop in? Or will it be Iran? Is the conflict of Daniel 8 coming into view?

East wind sand storm? ???????........Ezekiel 27:10 ?

That's Ezekiel 27:26 & 27 " not " 27:10 Pardon me. Another deserving sermon on 10 26 15 JD FARAG U-TUBE , he's one of our best pastor in my opinion. We'll done good & faithful servant, & thank u.

(Sand storm) well that's the spirit of our lord who puts Panic & madness inside them, on that day, & in the morning they were no more.Zachariah 12

Mrs.C said...

Mike - Forgive me, but this is very confused Scriptures you are mixing up. A "sand storm",is not going to be the demise of Tyre and its sister city Sidon. God will literally sink the coast of Lebanon where they are located with a great earthquake. You need to read Gods entire Proclamation against Tyre. Ezekiel Chapters 26,27,28. God devotes three Chapters to His Judgement against them, as he does Egypt.
What is amazing about this Proclamation against Tyre from God, is that He shows us where the recycled evil in the nations surrounding Israel has come from over the centuries. He calls out satan, telling the prince of Tyre that he at one time was in the Garden of Eden! WHEW! God is going to sink Tyre Lebanon, into the depths of the sea, NEVER to be found again. This, and the other final Judgements spoken by God against the nations surrounding Israel, will occur before the Tribulation. Ezekiel Chapters 25-32.
When you say "in the morning they were no more" are you quoting Isaiah 17? Zechariah 12 is at the end of the Tribulation. It is "ALL nations" in Zechariah 12 and 14 for that matter, during the Trib, not individual nations as God clearly singles out in Ezekiel Chapters 25-32, and Isaiah 17 before the Trib.

Peter said...

Mrs. C, why do you think this judgment happens before the Tribulation?

Unknown said...

Mrs C, instead of taking the stance of who's confused, I will say to u, let us just sit back & see.

Mrs.C said...

Peter - It is not singular "Judgment", but plural "Judgments" against specific nations. During the Tribulation, God is Judging the whole world, ALL nations. There is no ac in control for example, during His execution of these specific Judgements, and we know from the very beginning of the Trib. the ac is on the scene.
More importantly, what is Gods Purpose for these events that HE orchestrates. We know that the Isaiah 17 war, and the quickly following Ezekiel 38 invasion, have yet to occur. Gods Judgements of specific nations, too, has yet to be complete fulfilled.
We also know that these events are pre-Tribulation, and do not occur during the Trib. Getting back to the question, what is Gods Purpose for these events. First up, Isaiah 17, which is Gods answer to the imprecatory Prayer of Psalm 83. Damascus is destroyed, then Jordan is taken down, and the West Bank. Israel takes Syrian captives, then something catastrophic happens to Israel. They are fighting a multiple fronted war, alone, just as God wants. There is "desolation" as God tells us, and He also tells us why He allows this to happen to His People. He allows Israel, His People, to be brought to their knees. Israel is severely wounded, and the nations within the close circle around them, "rush" in to attempt to finish her off. THIS is the moment of ALL moments! THIS is when after thousands of years, God Himself steps in to save the Remanent of His People. God "rebukes" these nations, with the final fulfillment of the Ezekiel Judgements, and the Prayer of Psalm 83.
God is beginning to turn His Attention back, back to His People, and away from the Church. This is the beginning of the end of the Church Age.The Ezekiel 38/39 invasion quickly follows, where as God FULLY restores His Covenant with His People, and tells them His is back, NEVER to "hide His Face" from them again. We the Church are outta here! Praise God! The ac then froward with the false peace treaty, and the Tribulation begins.

Mrs.C said...

Mike - We had better get it right. Why? Not because we preach to the church so as to speak, but for those that are either unsaved (including some CNO's),or those sitting on the fence. The days of speculating are gone, we are seeing, witnessing the real deal here, right before our eyes. God allowed EACH one of us to be born into this Generation, a Generation that our ancient Brothers and Sisters longed for. He has great confidence in each of us for such a privilege. If we error in our Witness to the lost, that could mean the loss of their Salvation. For example, the ridiculous date setting, or the latest greatest "Christian" novels, videos, that expand their false teachings down never ending rabbit trails.Perpetuating this stuff, at the most critical time in all of time, is not being a good Witness, nor a Good Servant as Jesus tells us to be in Matthew 24. We had all better know His Word extremely well, have His Word written in our hearts, from the ONLY true source, the Bible. Should the Lord tarry, there may not even be the internet available, or the latest trendy book! You think there is persecution now, just wait until we witness Damascus gone in one night, the horrendous death and destruction soon to come in the ME, and try to Witness the Truth of His Word on that! Whew! The world we label us a gleeful that so many died etc., instead of the fulfillment of Gods Word written thousands of years ago.
Nope, forgive me Mike, but there will be no "sitting back" at this moment...we are at the edge of all time, and that is not what Jesus expects us to do...watching His Prophetic Word come true...reading His Word...inviting, welcoming the Holy Spirit constantly for discernment...being about our Masters Business...leading the lost to be Saved...before its too late...

Peter said...

Mrs. C, why do you think that Exekiel 25-32 and Isaiah 17 must happen before the tribulation? What is the Biblical reason that it must happen first?

Scott said...

Peter. Question from me. Do you see the 7 yr period of the burning of the weapons as something that will continue into the 1,000 year reign of Christ?

Scott said...

Here im referencing gog magog of course

Mrs.C said...

Peter - Dont "think", know :) God will restore His Covenant with His People, BEFORE the Trib begins. Its not always what God says, but also what He doesn't say. Where are these events, SPECIFICALLY, in the Book Of Revelation? NOT there, not there because they occur BEFORE the Trib. Where is the ac in Isaiah 17? NOT there. Why? Because he hasn't come into power yet. God didnt just skip over, or forget to mention the ac IF he were ruling during the Isaiah 17 war, not to mention all the other events of the Trib. Most importantly, I guess you didnt read my previous post carefully, but it is God Himself orchestrating His Return to His People. THAT is His whole purpose. It is His beginning to turn from the Church, back to His People. To put it in simple terms: He brings Israel to their knees, so that they turn to Him. He destroys the surrounding immediate evil neighbors - answering Psalm 83 Prayer - and in doing so prepares the way for the Ezekiel 38/39 invasion. Also, these enemies that are destroyed, allow for the Temple to be rebuilt in the first half of the Trib. God clears the field so as to speak. The Ezekiel 38/39 invasion that quickly follows,

Mrs.C said...

Peter - In a simple, excellent, form, our late Brother Jack Kelley said the soon to come events succinctly, wonderfully...Jack just left to be with the Lord recently, and WHEW, you can guarantee he is having some GLORIOUS conversations!:)

“The Millennium obviously can't happen till the Second Coming, because that's when the Lord returns to establish it. And the Second Coming can't happen till the end of the Great Tribulation. And that can't happen till the anti-Christ stands in the Temple in Israel declaring himself to be God. (2 Thes. 2:4) That's the event Jesus warned Israel to look for as the Great Tribulation's opening salvo. He called it "The Abomination of Desolation" in Matt. 24:15-21.

But that can't happen till there's a Temple. There hasn't been a Temple in Israel since 70AD and there won't be one until the Jews decide they need one. That won't happen until God reinstates their Old Covenant relationship, signaling the start of Daniel's 70th week. And that can't happen till the Battle of Ezekiel 38-39 is won, because it's Ezekiel's battle that officially draws the Jews back to God. (Ezek. 39:22) And that can't happen till the Church is gone, because the Church and Israel are mutually exclusive to Him. (Romans 11:25 & Acts 15:13-18) And that brings us to the present, because there is no preceding event for the Rapture of the Church. It could happen at any time."

Scott said...

I agree with all of that

Peter said...

Scott, I see no problem with weapon burning occurring into the millennium in the same way that the nations beat their swords into plowshares in Isaiah 2:4 during the Messianic reign.

Mrs. C, we all desire to understand God's word. You are making several arguments from omission that I'm not sure are watertight. Just because the AC is not mentioned in Isaiah 17 doesn't mean he isn't around. You are committing a logical fallacy by saying that and I don't really accept your argument just based on it not being mentioned.

As far as the events in Ezekiel 39:22 declaring that Israel will be known by Israel from that day forward: we also learn in 39:7 that God will not allow his name to be profaned anymore, and that the nations will know he is the Lord. How can you say this will happen before the AC’s reign of deception begins among all of the nations?

Scott said...

So in your view - during the 1000 yr reign, in a renewed restored earth, you believe that it will be necessary to continue burning weapons from a past war for survival purposes ? Interesting. To me that seems highly inconsistent. Swords into plowshares is completely consistent with what we know about the Mill kingdom as war wont be happening. But i dont see a remnant from gog magog carrying through into the 1000 reign nor do i see the necessity of such

Peter said...

Do I believe it is necessary? Probably not, in the same way that it probably won't be necessary if it happened tomorrow. Honestly, these sorts of details involve a lot of speculation in either one of our scenarios. I don't think our prophetic models should hinge on whether weapons can be burned into the millennium. More interesting is the 39:7 (and 39:21) question about the nations knowing the Lord.

I also find it very difficult to ignore the incredibly strong parallel between Ezekiel 39 and Revelation 19.

Compare Ezekiel 39:17-20:
17 “As for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: Speak to the birds of every sort and to all beasts of the field, ‘Assemble and come, gather from all around to the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great sacrificial feast on the mountains of Israel, and you shall eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth—of rams, of lambs, and of he-goats, of bulls, all of them fat beasts of Bashan. 19 And you shall eat fat till you are filled, and drink blood till you are drunk, at the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you. 20 And you shall be filled at my table with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all kinds of warriors,’ declares the Lord GOD.

And now compare Revelation 19:17–18
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, “Come, gather for the great supper of God, 18 to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.”

Do you think this parallel is just a coincidence? The textual argument is very strong that Ezekiel 39 is the referent of this Revelation passage.

Scott said...

Wow. Where do i start with this. There are glaring inconsistencies w your pov.
1. Look at the conclusion of ezek 38-39 vs rev 19. Ezek 38-39 concludes with israel turning to God. Rev 19 concludes with the AC and FP thrown into lake of fire then mill reign. Huge differences
2. Ezek 38-39 involves very specific nations mentioned in ch 38. Rev 19 involves the beast and. "Kings of the EARTH"
3. Rev 19 the war is waged against the rider of the white horse (jesus) and his army. Ezekiel 38-39 is waged against Israel

These are rather large and significant differences. Hinging your view on the birds cleaning the aftermath is a tiny similarity when looking at these significant differences imo

Mrs.C said...

Peter - Ya, just as I figured, you are unable to validate your incorrect "thinking" as you cannot demonstrate, in His Word, where these events occur in the Tribulation. God is VERY specific for a reason, yet you willfully ignore what He says. Knowing God, do you believe that He would just skip over the biggest enemy of His during the Tribulation, and NOT happen to mention the ac? The ac will be controlling everything in the ME, for goodness sake, he sets himself up as God in the Temple! Yet you insist that God just kinda missed naming him in Isaiah 17? Again, where in the Tribulation does Isaiah 17 take place? You have yet to provide that information from Scripture. Worst of all, you ignore Gods Purpose for the Isaiah 17 war! So, according to you, where exactly does the Isaiah 17 war occur during the Trib. Chapter and Verse if you please.
Its not an "argument" that I present, its His Word. Again, can you provide Chapter and Verse as to when Isaiah 17 occurs in the Tribulation? Can you explain WHY God just ignores the fact that the ac is ruling, but not involved,at that time as you suggest? As for "committing a "logical fallacy", my goodness, such Pharisaical critique used by Im sure, someone who has convinced himself that he is an "intellect" on the matter. It matters not what you "think", as Im not trying to convince you of anything. What matters is what Gods Word says, and we understand it as He would want. He is not a trickster, that is for the enemy,He doesn't make it complicated, for as a Loving Father He wants us to understand. He wants us to get it. "Logic" is not applicable to Gods Ways from any human POV, faith, trust, love is. Would you stand before Jesus, watch Him perform a Miracle, and then tell Him His Miracle was not "logical"? Or would you stand there before Him like a wide eyed child, and say "WOW! that was wonderful Jesus", believing and having Faith in Him that He did just perform a Miracle. His Word is not a textbook, it is His Living Word...humility before Him is always good...

Matthew 18:3
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Mrs.C said...

Again, there is no need for "speculation". His Word is very clear. There will be no need to "burn weapons" during the Millennium.
Revelation 21:33-24
22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it,[j] for the glory[k] of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. 24 And the nations of those who are saved[l] shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it

Peter. I dont know what your goal is here. It doesnt seem that you are interested in an open discussion as much as pushing your pov - for reasons that escape me. I dont have that much time to discuss this as we can agree to disagree but i just literally dont have the time to keep this cycle going (its my day job that keeps getting in the way lol) but seriously i just dont have the time to do this unfortunately. Rapture Ready has many open discussions on their message board, you could probably have a more robust discussion on these various topics with a wider audience with folks who have more time for a back and forth discussion. God bless brother
