“We see statements from representatives of some capitals - from London and so on, who no longer see any restrictions in this regard. We see countries that are still trying to maintain some kind of balance and say that they are against such liberalization of the regime for the use of such long-range missiles,” Dmitry Peskov said during a press call.
“As for increasing this range of long-range missile strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation, this is pure provocation, a new, very dangerous round of escalation of tension,” the presidential press secretary emphasized.
The Pentagon press service reported on July 10 that the United States will begin deploying long-range strike systems in Germany in 2026. Among them are SM-6 anti-aircraft missiles, Tomahawk cruise missiles and experimental hypersonic weapons. The department indicated that the purpose of the decision is to demonstrate the US commitment to NATO objectives and contribute to the defense capability of Europe.
Previously, Russian authorities had stated that if the United States deployed systems in any country, Russia would abandon its voluntary moratorium on the deployment of similar systems. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the current decision of the American authorities “destabilizing.”
