“We cannot allow this historic agreement, this milestone in global health, to be sabotaged by those who spread lies, either deliberately or unknowingly.”
The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is once again sounding the alarm that the world has not learned the necessary lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic, and claims that if the world does not ready itself now it will pay the price “dearly next time.” Additionally, the WHO head once more attacked the supposed “lies” being told about the preposed pandemic treaty, which is set to be signed in just a matter of months.
Dr. Tedros made these statements during this week’s World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, UAE.
After giving his opening introductions Tedros got into the heart of what he wanted to talk about. He began reminding the audience that in 2018, standing in the same spot he was before at the WGS, that the world was not ready for a pandemic, and lo and behold Covid-19 came along in late-2019; and now with the world living in the aftermath of that, Tedros once again warned, “still, the world is not prepared for a pandemic.”
Tedros guarantees that another one is coming, as it is a matter of “when” and not “if,” and if the world does not shape-up soon the results will be terrible.
"The cycle of panic and neglect is beginning to repeat. The painful lessons we learned are in danger of being forgotten as attention turns to the many other crises confronting our world.
But if we fail to learn those lessons, we will pay dearly next time.
And there will be a next time. History teaches us that the next pandemic is a matter of when, not if. It may be caused by an influenza virus, or a new coronavirus, or it may be caused by a new pathogen we don’t even know about yet – what we call Disease X.
There’s been a lot of attention on Disease X recently, but in fact, it’s not a new thing. […] And as things stand, the world remains unprepared for the next Disease X, and the next pandemic. If it struck tomorrow, we would face many of the same problems we faced with Covid-19."

But in order to rectify this unpreparedness, Tedros once again emphasized the importance of nations signing the highly touted pandemic accords to strengthen resilience.
Tedros explained that the final vote is “15 weeks away,” but there are two primary hinderances. The first one being some disagreements with certain nations, but the main reason is why are the “litany of lies and conspiracy theories about the agreement.”
