The US carried out airstrikes with two F-15s against Iranian Guard positions in Syria with Tehran's response being immediate: Pro-Iranian forces, the Syrian Army and Iraqi militias attacked US bases and positions in Syria and Iraq.
The Iranians hit US bases with kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles. The attack by Iraqi militias with an Iranian Fath/BM-120 ballistic missile launched from a converted civilian truck stands out.
It appears that the Iranians have developed something similar to the Russian Club-K missile system.
In total, two US bases in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the Al-Harir Air Base in Northern Iraq were hit, while the US Ain al-Asad Air Base west of Baghdad was hit 3 times, as well as an American patrol with an IED in Mosul.
The Americans report some wounded but no dead. American sources, however, speak of "losses" which are not made public in an effort not to escalate the situation further.
For this reason there is a lot of grumbling against T.Biden. They attribute to him a "lukewarm" reaction. For example, yesterday there was no US response after the MQ-9 "Reaper" was shot down by the Houthis.
A US defense official revealed that there have been 46 (!) attacks against US forces in Iraq and Syria since 10/17. The 4 happened today after the F-15 raids.
USA: Attacked with F-15s on Iranian facilities in Northern Syria
The US struck facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated groups, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said
The strike was carried out by two F-15s against a weapons storage facility in retaliation for attacks on US personnel in Syria and Iraq.
“Following a series of attacks against Americans in Iraq and Syria, US Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces conducted an airstrike against a facility in Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups.
