The Red Alerts warning sirens were activated in Tel Aviv, some 70 kilometers from the Gaza Strip, as well as Sde Boker, Arad, and Dimona in the south, also more than 70 kilometers away.
Explosions were heard by residents across these areas.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics were treating a 70-year-old woman in critical condition and another man trapped following a direct rocket impact in the Gederot Regional Council. MDA said it was treating a 20-year-old man moderately wounded by rocket shrapnel in Yavne.
Medics were also responding to reports of rocket impacts in Yavne, Ashkelon, and Kfar Aviv, near Ashdod.
The military said it was investigating and would soon provide further information.
In one video from Ashkelon circulating on social media, large black plumes of smoke from fires can be seen from a suspected impact site.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is heading to the military headquarters in Tel Aviv amid the massive barrage of rockets from the Gaza Strip, his office said Saturday morning.
Gallant and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to hold meetings with top security officials soon, their offices said.
