A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.1 hit Andreanof Islands, Alaska at 06:31 UTC on January 26, 2020 (18:31 LT, January 25). The agency is reporting a depth of 27 km (16.7 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.0 at a depth of 48 km (29.8 miles).
The epicenter was located 235 km (145 miles) WSW of Adak, Alaska and 1 376 km (853 miles) ESE of Klyuchi, Russia.
There are no people living within 100 km (62 miles).
The USGS issued a green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
