Garsten acknowledges that the Bilderberg Group’s commitment to confidentiality—no press, no recordings, no official statements—contributes to its controversial reputation. “There’s a value in having a safe space for free dialogue,” she says, “but the lack of transparency naturally leads people to question what’s being discussed and why.”

As helicopters hover over Stockholm and convoys of black vehicles slip in and out of the Grand Hôtel, the world once again wonders what kind of future is being quietly crafted behind gilded doors.
