Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law ratifying a strategic partnership treaty with Iran, Russian state news agency RIA reported on Monday. The agreement is expected to strengthen military and diplomatic ties between Moscow and Tehran.
As part of the agreement, the two countries agreed not to provide military assistance to any third party with which the other is in hot conflict, according to the Kyiv Independent.
This agreement was very comprehensive and shows the importance that Russia is placing in their relations with Iran. The article went on to further state:
The agreement established a framework for the development of long-term cooperation between the two countries. Russian state media outlet TASS reported that the agreement covers all areas of strategic partnership, including: defense, counterterrorism, energy, finance, transportation, industry, agriculture, culture, science, and technology.
Russia has recently made the news in strengthening ties with Iran and North Korea. Both countries are helping Russia militarily in its now three-year war with Ukraine. North Korea has provided Russia with weapons and troops on the ground. Iran has been a steady source of weapons and drones.
As we see the strengthening in ties between Russia and Iran, students of Bible prophecy should know what this means. The prophet Ezekiel foretold a time in the last days wheere Russia, Iran, and Turkey would lead many nations against Israel in an effort to destroy her. Their ill-fated invasion that is outlined in Ezekiel 38-39 foretells that they would be met by the God of Israel in the northern part of the country. Many people feel the contested Golan Heights would fit this area as the prophet Ezekiel labeled this northern part as the “mountains of Israel”.
