The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday night said it was not behind a blast at a hospital in the Gaza Strip, which according to Hamas health authorities led to hundreds of deaths, and that a misfired rocket launched by Gaza terrorists led to the explosion at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital.
Palestinians and much of the Arab world blamed Israel, saying it had struck the medical facility and that hundreds had been killed. Jerusalem was swiftly condemned by Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and others.
The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza initially said at least 500 people were killed, AP reported, a figure that was later amended to between 200 and 300, as reported by AFP
Terror group Hamas called the blast “a war crime,” and the World Health Organization also issued a rebuke.
After initially saying it was looking into the matter, the IDF denied involvement, saying it had not been operating in the area at the time of the blast.
In a brief video circulated in English, IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said “an analysis of IDF operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit.”
“Intelligence from multiple sources we have in our hands indicates that Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza,” he added.
The Israeli military said Gaza-based terror organizations routinely fire rockets indiscriminately toward Israel and about 450 rockets have fallen inside Gaza since the beginning of the war on October 7, “endangering and harming the lives of Gazan residents.”
Several videos appear to show the moment the rocket fell short and exploded inside the Palestinian territory on Tuesday.
One video, taken from Kibbutz Netiv Haasara, appeared to match footage taken by Al Jazeera, which also showed a rocket misfire land inside Gaza.

IDF confirms Gaza hospital blast caused by Islamic Jihad rocket misfire
IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says the Israeli military did not strike the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip earlier Tuesday and that the facility was hit by a failed rocket launched by the Islamic Jihad terror organization.
The military says that following an additional review and cross-examination of the operational and intelligence systems, “it is clear that the IDF did not strike the hospital in Gaza.”
“I can confirm that following an analysis of the IDF operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit,” says Hagari in a short video sent by the IDF.
Intelligence points to Islamic Jihad “which is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza,” he says.
Hamas and most Arab nations have blamed Israel for the explosion, which the Hamas terror group said killed some 500 people. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza later said between 200 and 300 had been killed.
The Israeli military says Gaza-based terror organizations fire rockets indiscriminately toward Israel and about 450 rockets launched toward Israel have fallen inside Gaza since the beginning of the war on October 7, “endangering and harming the lives of Gazan residents.”
Surveillance camera footage shows the moment the rocket launched from the Gaza Strip appears to fall short and explode inside the Palestinian enclave.

IMO, those countries that can't accept truths, proof, reality, or why War brings sorrow caused by their hatred, are part of the whole problem yonder!
They can't accept their responsibility for much of their part in this, their known, as reputed, creation/funding/approval, for Terrorists, be they Hamas, or other known criminal Terrorists, IMO!?
Those beautiful countries in ME has some wonderful beautiful people, but are reputedly ruled by some evil unreasonable Leaders IMO; IMO, therefore, THEY are responsible, not Israel, for all reactions from Israel to evil demonic vile acts!! So, are those countries taking in refugee's, are they condemning Hamas, are they understanding of Israel's stance for life, not death, are they stopping other numb-nuts from doing harm????
If they want peace, they are Adults, and need to not embrace proxies on their behalf that reek havoc, IMO!
Also, IMO, those countries need to accept refugees, stop funding stupid, and be thankful for their wealth, blessings from the land, and people that just want to live good lives, in my opinion!
Respect Israel, and talk, don't cancel imperative talks, be Adults not babies, because this is serious! Love and support Israel, Israel should not tolerate Criminal Demonic Terrorists, and no country should expect them to ever!!
What is wrong with people, Israel is hurting from losses of loved ones, and those countries are whining? Instead CONDEMN all Hamas says, does, or did, say good-bye to Hamas cowards!
