Russia Initiates Wargames With China And Others Amid Tensions With The Western World



On Thursday, September 1st, Russia initiated the Vostok 2022 exercise. Being held in the far east of Russia and the Sea of Japan, The wargames are intended to demonstrate to western countries that Russia still has enough military to hold these massive exercises while it is still engaged in Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Ministry says that the exercises will use 50,000 troops, 60 warships, 140 aircraft, and 5000+ weapons, and will last until September 7th.


AP News says the exercises will be commanded by General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the Russian General Staff, who will be commander of troops from several ex-Soviet countries, Syria, Nicaragua, Mongolia, Laos, India, and China.


In the Sea of Japan, the Chinese and Russian naval forces will practice the protection of maritime economic traffic, support for ground forces, and the protection of sea communication systems, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.


The drills present the increasing cooperation between The Russian Federation and China, which continues to grow stronger daily.
