A powerful earthquake has struck one of Australia’s closest neighbours.
The 6.2 magnitude tremor hit the eastern tip of Timor-Leste on Friday afternoon at a depth of 65km, Geoscience Australia says.
The Bureau of Meteorology said there was no tsunami threat to Australia as a result of the tremor.About an hour earlier, a 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck in Tennant Creek at a depth of 5km, in the Northern Territory.
Residents in Darwin reported feeling both of the tremors.
“Last earthquake only the windows shook, this time whole building shook,” one person said on Twitter.
