The Lambda variant of the coronavirus, first identified in Peru and now spreading in South America, is highly infectious and more resistant to vaccines than the original version of the virus the emerged from Wuhan, China, Japanese researchers have found.
In a paper posted on Wednesday on bioRxiv ahead of peer review, the researchers warn that with Lambda being labeled a "Variant of Interest" by the World Health Organization, rather than a "Variant of Concern," people might not realize it is a serious ongoing threat.
In laboratory experiments, they found that three mutations in Lambda's spike protein, known as RSYLTPGD246-253N, 260 L452Q and F490S, help it resist neutralization by vaccine-induced antibodies.
Two additional mutations, T76I and L452Q, help make Lambda highly infectious, they found.
Although it is not clear yet whether this variant is more dangerous than the Delta now threatening populations in many countries, senior researcher Kei Sato of the University of Tokyo believes "Lambda can be a potential threat to the human society."

So wait a minute, if it's either a new variant named Lambda, conjured up for more power grabs, or if it's truly a nasty virus emerging, and comes from South America, then tell us why again, we have folks walking in across our borders??
Illegal's come with many viruses unchecked, and until we know more, or until we get smart about closing the borders, the threats are, our laws not being enforced IMO! How can we take anyone serious about anything Gov. feeds us when they are breaking our laws already, IMO? Sure wish all those claims were followed by pure proven facts, instead of globs of stupid letters, numbers, by scientists we don't trust now, even less than politician's, in my opinion!
So if vaccine doesn't work on the big one, and most folks still get Covid anyway with vaccine, oh that is right, but less severe reputedly, although no proof, never is, and now sounds like the experimental jabs are null & void, right; What will they do now?? When there is real crisis, like incoming missile alerts, populace won't believe them probably after all this ordeal that keeps changing on a dime, IMO! Done with stupid! God has a plan, and now we know why!
I just received our first notification from a national contractor that we can't send in our staff unless they have proof of their vaccination. Oh boy the fun begins. I already cancel the contract and wrote a scathing letter to them essentially decrying the poisonous shot, that it's not a vaccine and that this requirement is very un-American. It was a small account so I'm not losing much but I fear this is only the beginning. Of course, I probably have many staff who could have produced a vaccine card and continued serving the customer but I wanted to make my point and walk away.
Glad to see you took a stand though - we need more of that !
