PANIC Alaska earthquake news – Magnitude 6.9 tremor strikes two weeks after ‘strongest in decades’ sparked tsunami warning

A huge earthquake struck the Alaska peninsula on Saturday morning, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.

The quake registered a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale and was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), according to the EMSC.

The earthquake struck around 136 km southeast of Perryville, which is home to just over 100 people. 

There are no immediate reports of injuries, loss of life, or property damage.

It comes just weeks after a massive 8.2 magnitude earthquake sparked tsunami fears in Alaska and Hawaii on July 29.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake hit 91km southeast of Perryville, Alaska.

Three volcanos are also simultaneously erupting across The Last Frontier at the moment, with at least two spewing low levels of ash and steam.

The eruptions have been going on for more than a week though so far do not pose a threat to nearby communities. 

"Alaska has a lot of volcanoes, and we typically see maybe one eruption every year, on average," Matthew Loewen, a research geologist with the Alaska Volcano Observatory, told NBC.

The strong seismic series is currently slowing down. The latest quake >M5.0 occurred on about two hours ago (August 13, 2021; 5:52p.m.).

It seems that the whole fault is rupturing!

Aftershocks following yesterday’s M7.5-8 South Sandwich Islands earthquake are lighting up over half the length of the subduction zone – that’s nearly 500 km!

We normally expect subduction thrust earthquakes of this magnitude to rupture something like a 100-200 km length of fault.

It’s not looking good at all.

Earth’s pole reversal faster than predicted?

Moreover, it seems that the series of earthquakes off the South Sandwich Island takes place where the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) is located.

It is also an area where any aircraft or space shuttle is not allowed to fly over because of increased radiation.

Having all these moderate earthquakes in that area, does it mean that the Earth’s pole reversal is coming nearer than expected?
