On the evening of April 13, 2018, I filed a preliminary report, listed above as President Trump announced to the nation and the world that he had ordered a 3 nation (ie UK, France and the US) missile strike on the suspected chemical weapons plants in Syria.
As of morning hours of April 14, 2018, this is a report on the present status of the situation and the immediate aftermath of reaction in relation to the attack on alleged Syrian chemical weapons. This siutaiton is fluid and will require updates. Here is what we know at this point
The Russian Ambassador to the US Responds to the Attack On Syria (via Facebook)
Here is an unredacted word-for-word copy of the Facebook post by the Russian Ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov regarding the attack upon Syria.
(Editors Note: Does anyone else see the irony of the Russians, of all people, using FACEBOOK to release such a sensitive report in light the current climate which exists between Zuckerberg, Facebook, Mueller, and “Russian-collusion-delusion? The Russians certainly have a flair for irony).
From Facebook:
Statement by the Ambassador of Russia to the USA Anatoly Antonov on the strikes on SyriaThe worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard.
A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again, we are being threatened. We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences. All responsibility for them rests with Washington, London and Paris.Insulting the President of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible. The U.S. – the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons – has no moral right to blame other countries.
Initial Reaction to the Russian Ambassador’s Statement
The Russian rhetoric had reached a fever pitch prior to the attack. The Russians have now toned down their verbal response to almost a calm whisper. This reminds of how I was taught to handle a bully. I was taught to punch the biggest bully in the mouth, several times. That strategy works fine until the bully does not flinch or blink. The Russians have not flinched, nor are they blinking. In fact, the Russians have responded with “Is that all you got America”?
On CNN’s news show, New Day Saturday, in a report filed at 745AM (Eastern) contained the following the following excerpts:
“There is no way that President Putin is going to make that change that President Trump talked about and turn away from Assad..no indication that there is going to be any movement away from Syria and do what the Defense Secretary Mattis said regarding the turning away from Assad and engaging in peace talks in Geneva.…The Ministry of Defense of sort of doubling-down in their support for Assad, saying that they are considering now upgrading Syrian air defense..President Putin said that these actions destablize the situation just as Syria was beginning to recover….”
Putin has already captured the moral high-ground!
Long-time readers of this website may express that I would ever quote CNN. However, in this instance, they presented the most factual responses to the attack and in particular to the Russian response. In contrast, I was very disappointed in the Fox coverage. I though I was attending a neocon pep rally and the Russian response to this event was all but ignored. And please keep in mind, I may present a surface response by CNN to the Russian response, but only because I could verify with other sources such as the Russian Ambassador’s statement, that the report was accurate on its face. Otherwise, CNN remains the best cartoon network on television.
OH-OH, The Bully Did Not Blink!!!
Trump just punched Russia in the mouth, via Syria, and the Russians have not even blinked. If this were a tennis match, we would say that the Russians broke the Americans serve and the ball is in their court and now our leaders have the daunting task of trying to anticipate the coming Russian response.
Is That All You Got?
From Sputnik to RT, the Russians are claiming a high intercept and shoot down rate for the incoming missiles. However, the numbers are likely inflated and the results are skewed because the Russians knew where the missiles were headed because the Russians were warned away from the targeted areas by the Americans in advance of the attack, in order to prevent Russian casualties. This made it much easier to intercept incoming allied missiles, thus negating Russian claims of technical superiority.
Anticipating the Russian Response
I apologize, for if the readers were looking for some dramatic, fear-based article, that is not going to be forthcoming, at least not this morning. I spent most of the previous evening and early morning hours discussing various scenarios with some of my best sources. To a person, they are saying that it is too early to have specifically directed fears. However, I will share some of the general concerns.
That fact that the Russian Foreign Ministry told CNN that they were “doubling down” on Syrian air defense capabilities, is an indicator of what to look for in the short-term. However, some experts I have spoken with feel that it is inside of Iran that we should be paying the most attention to. I have had it mentioned three times, that if Syria has not been provided tactical battlefield nukes prior to this attack to Iran, we can almost assuredly count on that support from Russia and possibly even China. If this is the case, Israel will be pressing for an immediate strike upon their biggest threat which is Iran, which would clearly result in World War III. This remains my greatest fear at this point.
As I speak to more of my sources and compare notes with my colleagues, I will likely be offering a menu of possible Russian responses. However, we need to be mindful that we are dealing with Putin, the ultimate and simultaneous poker player and chessmaster. Putin is clearly a Sun Tzu advocate in that he believes that he can win most conflicts without engaging the enemy directly and he does so without issuing any warnings. An example of Putin’s masterful manuvering is how he has turned all of Latin American against the US, thus making a Red Dawn scenario not only possible, but likely (The analysis can be reviewed here). However, if and when Putin decides to attack, it will be swift, deadly and decisive and very difficult to anticipate.
Conclusion
Before you people who think that Donald Trump is so great that he is immune to criticsm, and you come out of the woodwork proclaiming that one cannot criticze the actions of this President and still support him, I would remind you, respectfully, that you are in error.
The conservatives of this country married Donald Trump in November of 2016. And like some brides, she is not everything that we hoped that she would be. However, when contemplating the metaphorical marriage that constitutes our relationship Trump, we need to remember that he is the only girl in town, so to speak. Or, would you prefer FEMA camp housing courtesy of Hillary, or state-sponsored witchcraft? But I digress.
This reckless neocon war stunt by President Trump, which let his foreign policy be hijacked by the Deep State, was a very foolish move. Alex Jones is saying the American people are “being crapped on”. Time will tell.
There is a silver linining which may just allow Trump to get away with this stunt. I am looking at a CNN headline right now which says:
“PUTIN CALLS UN MEETING ON SYRIA AIRSTRIKES”
If the Russians are talking, they are not yet shooting, at least, not yet.
Finally, as I speak to people who not immersed in the world of geopolitics, I find that they are not knowledgeable about what the exact conflict with Syria and ultimately, Iran is all about. Many of you do know, but many, as I said, do not. I am preparing a second article with the express purpose of laying out what our leaders are going to be asking you to sacrifice your children for. I think every parent and grandparent has a right to know about what is going to be demanded of you.
My advice to Trump is back away from Syria. You are winning with Korea, you have won the battle for the economy, as best as could be hoped for, you need to focus on what you can control. If you want to get out of the World War III or another Vietnam quagmaire (best case scenario), you need to get out of Syria, Mr. President. This means that you must purge all Deep State influences beginning with Sessions, Rosenstein, Wray and Mueller and that is only for starters. When you ran for office Mr. President you said we’d be winning again. Mr. President, you are getting your ass kicked in Syria. Reverse course while you still can.
Finally, if we are truly headed toward World War III, you need to heed my warning from yesterday and get prepared by reviewing this article.
