Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to send Syrian fighters to Yemen in the coming months during their meeting in Riyadh this week, a Syrian political source told Qatari-owned Al-Modon. According to the report, al-Sharaa raised the possibility of Syria joining the “Mecca Alliance” of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. He also sought Saudi help in weaponizing Syria’s army, asking Riyadh to press Pakistan to supply weapons and facilitate direct arms talks with the Pakistani army.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree postponing Palestinian legislative elections until September 2027, the same date he set for presidential elections. According to WAFA, the Palestinian News and Information Agency, the decision is a result of the current situation in the Gaza Strip and the absence of a non-Hamas police force.

Mohammad Reza Naghdi, an adviser to the commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, warned Sunday that any new missile or air attack would draw a “heavier and crushing” response. He said Iran’s adversaries were aware of the consequences of any provocation or attack.

Among the 12 killed at King Khalid Airport were eight foreign nationals

According to the Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation, the foreign nationals killed included: two Bangladeshis, one American, one Egyptian, one Jordanian, one Syrian, one Palestinian, and one Sudanese.

GACA also says that all of the 309 injured people are receiving medical care in several hospitals.

In a statement on X, Sec. of State Marco Rubio condemned the Houthi attacks on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, "that took numerous innocent lives, including an American citizen"

Rubio called the attacks reprehensible and said that they demonstrated a "blatant disregard for innocent civilian life."

Sec. Rubio additionally reaffirmed America's commitment to Saudi Arabia and called for the attacks to cease.
