There was a time in my life when I would have probably been considered a carnal Christian.
I was saved, but my spiritual life lacked depth. The Bible often felt distant, and my relationship with the Lord was not what it should have been. Like many believers, I knew Jesus had saved me, but I wasn’t truly living with an eternal perspective.
Then I dipped my toes into the pool of Bible prophecy.
At first, it was simply curiosity. I wanted to understand Revelation. I wanted to know what the Bible said about the last days. But the more I studied, the more I realized that prophecy was not merely about charts, timelines, or current events. It was about Jesus Christ. Every prophecy pointed to His faithfulness, His sovereignty, His promises, and His coming kingdom.
Before long, I couldn’t get enough.
What began as a casual interest became an all-consuming hunger for God’s Word. I dove headfirst into the deep end of Bible prophecy, and in the process, the Lord renewed and refreshed my heart. The Scriptures came alive. Passages that once seemed disconnected suddenly fit together. Current events made sense through the lens of God’s Word. Most importantly, my love for Jesus began to grow in ways I had never experienced before.
Bible prophecy did not pull me away from Christ. It drove me directly to Him.
The more I studied His return, the more I loved His appearing. The more I understood His promises, the more I trusted His character. The more I learned about the future He has prepared, the more I wanted to serve Him in the present.
Even today, that love continues to grow.
That is why I reject the idea that Bible prophecy is a distraction. For me, it became the very thing God used to awaken my spiritual life, deepen my faith, and renew my passion for Christ. I know I am not alone. Countless believers have discovered that when they begin studying the prophetic Scriptures, they do not become obsessed with the Antichrist, the mark of the beast, or the tribulation. They fall in love with Jesus.
The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus Christ.
When taught correctly, Bible prophecy does not create fear. It creates anticipation. It does not produce anxiety. It produces hope. And it reminds us that our King is coming soon.
