Israel Bombs Damascus For 100th Time

Israel Bombs Damascus for 100th Time

Israel bombed Damascus three times yesterday—while the Syrian government announced an major rebuilding program in liberated Aleppo—and started closing in on the last US-backed  Islamist terrorist base in Idlib province.

The Israeli attack used US-supplied jets and ground-to-ground missiles, the Syrian army said in a statement, adding that its missile defense systems (supplied by Russia) had hit but not downed one Israeli jet.
In a statement carried by SANA news agency, the General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces said that the Israeli army overnight fired rockets at targets in Al-Qutayfah in Damascus countryside, causing damage near military sites in the area.
“The Israeli aggression affirms again the support of the occupying entity to terrorist organizations in Syria and its desperate attempts to raise their morale after the painful blows they received in Harasta in eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside and the sweeping victories the Syrian Arab Army is achieving in Idlib,” the statement said.
The General Command meanwhile warned against risks posed by such aggressions and held the Israeli entity full responsible for their repercussions.
The Israeli warplanes fired at the targets in Syria from inside Lebanon’s airspace, while the missiles were launched from the occupied Golan Heights.

The latest attack brings to over 100 the number of Israeli military attacks upon Syrian military positions, all deliberate provocations designed to not only weaken the Syrian government in its war against the Islamist terrorists, but also to provoke the Syrian government into retaliating against the Jewish state.
Such a retaliation—as deserved as it might be—would however be used by the Jewish lobby controlled media and US government, along with the Israeli government, as “proof” that Syria is a “terrorist state” and would inevitable result in a full-scale military invasion and American bombardment.
As a result, the Syrian government has not reacted to the ongoing Israeli military aggression—preferring instead to bide its time until the last of the US-backed “rebels” are beaten. Only then will a suitable response to the Jewish attacks be formulated, observers in Syria say.
Reports say that the Syrian government forces and their Hezbollah and Iranian allies—backed by the Russian air force—have been on the offensive since late October in Hama and Idlib provinces, capturing nearly 100 villages from the US-backed terrorists, which include the al-Qaida-linked Levant Liberation Committee.
The Syrian offensive has intensified after the last major ISIS stronghold was destroyed in December, and the government has been able to redeploy large military units from the previous conflict areas to help crush the last of the terrorists.
