Those who publicly feared the COVID monitoring system would be misused by government to control the public seem to have been proved right. Sri Lanka is now rationing gasoline and the only way to buy any is with a government QR Code . . . from the COVID app on cellphones!
The tiny nation of Sri Lanka is in the midst of a massive fuel crisis. The country cannot get fuel because so many other nations are scrambling to do so amid Russia Sanctions. The price for fuel has thus skyrocketed and Sri Lanka simply cannot afford it.
What little fuel the country is able to get is now being RATIONED. In order for any individual to actually go BUY fuel, that person must now have a QR Code issued by the government, which "allows" a purchase of "X" amount of liters
