Ottawa police services board held an emergency meeting on Saturday afternoon, but failed to devise a clear plan of action against truck drivers and their supporters protesting the country’s Covid-19 mandates for over a week now.
“We are on day eight of this occupation. Our city is under siege. What we’re seeing is bigger than just a City of Ottawa problem. This is a nationwide insurrection. This is madness. We need a concrete plan to put an end to this,”said the chair of the board, Ottawa City Council member Diane Deans, at the beginning of the nearly 2-hour-long virtual discussion.
Ottawa police chief Peter Sloly agreed with her portrayal of the situation, saying that local law enforcement “were never intended to deal with a city under siege,” and decried the lack of resources – and legal authority – to disperse the protest.
Deans asked Solly what kind of resources and help he needs to put an end to the demonstration “right now,” and whether he wants the city to request the assistance from the federal government or even the military. Solly said there is “no quick answer” as the situation is constantly evolving, and reiterated that “we do not have sufficient resources to adequately and effectively address this situation.”
At one point, Deans wondered whether the city had legal grounds to declare an unlawful assembly and then a riot, in order to conduct mass arrests, instead of pursuing “one criminal charge at a time.”
“There are so many people out there engaged in a broader act of… mayhem, that we need to be able to bring it all under control,” she said.
As of Saturday afternoon, police estimated at least “500 heavy vehicles associated with the demonstration to be in the red zone,” as thousands of people joined the protest at Parliament Hill and elsewhere across Ottawa for a second weekend. Smaller groups of counter-protesters were also reported in the streets, even as a major rival event was called off last minute.
The anti-mandate movement spread far beyond the nation’s capital, with a major protest in solidarity with the Freedom Convoy held in Toronto, where police set up road blocks throughout downtown on Saturday.
Thousands of demonstrators also descended on the provincial capital of Quebec, while rival protesters faced off in Vancouver.
Smaller protests were reported in Calgary Fredericton, Regina and Winnipeg.
Protesters pledged to remain in the streets until all mandates and Covid-19 restrictions are gone. Authorities blasted the protest as a well-organized disruptive occupation, painting them as an “increasingly volatile and increasingly dangerous” nuisance to the livelihoods of law-abiding citizens.
Ottawa police have previously announced they will deploy any and all possible resources and tactics to shut down the Freedom Convoy. During a press conference on Friday, Sloly even warned his fellow officers that anyone seen giving “food, water, fuel, logistics, or funding” to a protester would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

WOW!!! The masses there, here, everywhere sounds like, are beginning to just stand up for themselves after seeing those in our Governments over-extend power in the form of: Abuses, misuse, and criminally enforcing, their evil upon all society; What is wrong with this? Not one thing, it's the people that those in our Governmental positions, Agencies, Military, etc. are to suppose to work for, it's we, the people, not make them Kings or Queens!
Once the trust has been broken, the lies exposed, the Agenda's revealed, the wrongs continued, it's the GOD given right for the people to speak truth to power, take back their power! Elitist's shown the world they believe they can treat human-beings as disposable peon's, even through population control (as being reputed), to accept their Tyrannical Rule, NWO, or whatever anyone wants to label their pure demonic forces of a new brand of evil in our 21st Century upon Earth, in my opinion! We are at war with Spiritual Warfare Good versus Evil, and
if unchecked imbalance goes on, a Civil War combo deal, in my opinion.
To avoid the latter means letting the Organized Criminals drunk with power, money, need to control all, that the greater numbered populace want this ring of bandit's dismantled! Suspect round up's to be eventually occurring for arresting those that really broke laws of the land, they have for some time while terrorizing Globally human-beings as is reputed too, even profit from human-trafficking, drugs! Money can't buy you love, can't buy planet Earth, it's not for sale to the highest bidder, but is being attempted by Demon's in human form, In My Opinion!!! Land, resources, skies, soil, souls, etc. belongs to us all, not those mocking God! NO one should arrest people helping people, it's what God expects from good people! The buck stops with GOD, not any mindless, spineless follower's for illegal gains re-branded as just when not, in my opinion. Prayers for good to prevail, give God all the Glory!
