Ukraine: Russia Has Moved 80,000 Troops To Border

Ukraine says Russia has moved 80,000 troops to border and Crimea, and Putin won't talk

Ukraine's government said on Monday that requests by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to speak with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about the escalating conflict in eastern Ukraine had been ignored. Moscow denied receiving any request from Kyiv for such talks.

Tension between the neighbors has grown steadily for several weeks, with intensified skirmishes in eastern Ukraine — a region that has been mired in conflict since Russia first backed Ukrainian separatists there seven years ago. Putin has sent thousands of forces toward the Ukrainian border recently, raising concerns among politicians in the United States and European Union.

"The president's office, of course, made a request to speak with Vladimir Putin. We have not received an answer yet and we very much hope that this is not a refusal of dialogue," Ukrainian presidential spokeswoman Iuliia Mendel told Reuters on Monday.

She told Russia's Interfax news agency that the request for talks was sent on March 26, after four Ukrainian servicemen were killed by shelling in the country's east.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that he "hasn't seen any requests in the past several days."

Mendel said Russia had massed more than 40,000 troops on Ukraine's eastern border, and more than 40,000 in Crimea, the region that Putin unilaterally annexed away from Ukraine and declared Russian in 2014.

I know many of us, citizens are attempting to try to figure out why things are happening the way they are. Why do things seem to be in so much upheaval and disorder? What’s the reason behind all the dysfunction and seemingly brokenness in our society?
I can only humbly offer my two cents for what it’s worth...

We are experiencing the consequences of a society that has turned its back on God repeatedly, and told God to butt out! We are a society that has it’s foundations and origins rooted in the bedrock influences of the teachings and principles of the Bible. We are not a Theocracy, however we are a unique Constitutional Republic, who’s founders were mostly men who were well acquainted with, and well read in the teachings and principles of the Bible.

The Founding Fathers were a group of imperfect men, who well understood the reality of human nature, and the fallen state of humanity apart from God’s governing influences. The God of the Bible is a loving God. He’s also a just God, and the fact that He is just, should help us better understand that we are only getting what we’ve been asking for, not individually but collectively as a society. The Church of Jesus Christ has failed in many ways by being influenced, rather than being the influencer.
