Rescuers are scrambling to save the trapped victims of a devastating 7.6-magnitude earthquake that hit central Japan today, as others ran for higher ground amid warnings of a tsunami.

A total of 21 quakes above 4.0 magnitude rang out shortly after 4pm local time (7am UK time), with Wajima City's Fire Department in Ishikawa reporting it had received more than 30 reports of collapsed buildings, according to Japanese broadcaster NHK.

Videos shared on social media and broadcast on Japanese TV showed how structures had crumbled in Suzu, a city close to the epicentre of the largest quake, with thick cracks appearing in roads.

The tremors triggered a huge fire in Wajima, with shocking footage showing massive flames engulfing residential buildings according to local broadcasters.

Other clips showed terrified shoppers thrown to the ground in department stores and flooding at a train station after water pipes burst. The earthquake struck as millions of Japanese flocked to temples to mark the New Year.

Japan's meteorological agency said that the earthquake's magnitude of 7.6 is the largest ever recorded in the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa prefecture.

Rescuers are combing through the debris of several houses to evacuate trapped residents after Yoshimasa Hayashi, chief cabinet secretary of Japan, said there were at least six people reported trapped under the rubble of their homes, those that number is expected to increase.

Elements of Japan's military have been called up to aid in the rescue and evacuation efforts, Hayashi added. No reports of deaths or injuries have yet been confirmed, but officials said the situation is still unclear.

The earthquakes triggered fears of a tsunami, with the meteorological agency initially warning citizens to brace for waves of up to 5 metres (16.4ft). Officials later downgraded the major warning to a regular tsunami warning.

But a spokesman official from the service warned there is still a 'very high risk' of buildings collapsing, and strong tremors could continue for the 'next two to three days'.

'Do not wander away from the safe place,' he said. 'There is a very high risk of buildings collapsing and other damages caused by the tremors. History tells us that the similar scale of earthquakes can reoccur within two to three days.'

The country's meteorological agency reported the first big waves hit Wajima port in Ishikawa prefecture at 4:21pm local time just as darkness fell on the region, with many more expected in the coming minutes and hours.

A major tsunami warning was issued for Ishikawa as well as lower-level tsunami alerts or advisories for the rest of the western coast of the island of Honshu, as Japanese public broadcaster NHK TV urged people to flee to high land or to the top of nearby buildings.

'We realise your home, your belongings are all precious to you, but your lives are important above everything else. Run to the highest ground possible,' a presenter on broadcaster NHK told viewers.

The tsunami waves could keep returning, according to the network, as warnings continued to be aired nearly an hour after the initial alert.

The threat was later downgraded to a regular warning.

The Japanese government has set up a special emergency centre to gather information on the quakes and tsunami and relay them speedily to residents to ensure safety, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters.

But the effects of the earthquake were expected further afield than just Japan.

Russia's emergencies ministry said that parts of the western coast Sakhalin island, situated close to Japan on Russia's Pacific seaboard, were also under threat of tsunami, and that the local population was being evacuated, state news agency TASS reported.

North Korea issued tsunami warnings for its east coast saying waves of up to 2.08 meters (6.8 ft) can reach its shore, Yonhap news reported citing the North's state radio.

And South Korea's meteorological agency earlier said sea levels in some parts of the Gangwon province on the east coast may rise after the earthquakes.

The Japanese government will hold a news conference later in the day, with reports of any damage not immediately available.

Several major highways were closed, the road operator said, and Shinkansen bullet train services were also suspended between Tokyo and the epicentre in the Noto region in Ishikawa prefecture on the Sea of Japan side of Japan's main island of Honshu.

Around 33,500 households on the western coast of Honshu were left without power, according to local utilities.

Fears are mounting that Japan's coastal nuclear power plants could be affected in the wake of the quake.

But operators have confirmed that no issues have been detected yet.

'It has been confirmed that there are no abnormalities at Shika nuclear power plant (in Ishikawa) and other stations as of now,' government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi said.

'Every minute counts. Please evacuate to a safe area immediately,' he added.

Hokuriku Electric Power, Tokyo Electric Power Co, and Kansai Electric Power operate several nuclear power plants along the coastline that could be struck by tsunamis.

Meanwhile in South Korea, officials in Gangwon province warned residents to take precautions and evacuate to higher grounds in anticipation of a potential tsunami.

Japan Records Total of 29 Earthquakes in 2 Hours

Sputnik

A total of 29 earthquakes with a maximum magnitude of 7.6 occurred in the Japanese prefectures of Ishikawa and Niigata in two hours on Monday, according to data analyzed by Sputnik.

The underground tremors started at 4:06 p.m. local time (07:06 GMT).
At least six houses have collapsed following the seismic activity, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said.

"As of now, six buildings have collapsed, with a possibility of people remaining under the rubble," Hayashi said, adding that the authorities did not possess any information about the injuries.

When asked to comment on the reports in Japanese media about the collapses of around 100 buildings, Hayashi said that the Japanese government was verifying the information.
No disruptions at Japanese nuclear power plants have been reported following a series of strong earthquakes in the country's west on Monday, while the toll of casualties is being tabulated, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said.
No emergency reports have been received, in particular, from the Shika nuclear power plants in Ishikawa prefecture, which is believed to be affected by the quake the most, Hayashi said.
The recent earthquake in the Japanese prefecture of Ishikawa has become the strongest on the Noto peninsula since 1885 when record started, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said on Monday.
A major fire has broken out in the Japanese city of Wajima in the Ishikawa prefecture after a series of the powerful earthquakes, the local media reported on Monday.
Several fire brigades are involved in putting out the fire, Japanese broadcaster reported.
The experts from Japan's Meteorological Agency warned on the possibility of repeated tremors with a magnitude of up to 7.0 within approximately a week after the Monday earthquakes.

'Massive' 7.6 Quake Hits Japan

Massive earthquake slams Japan, residents flee some coastal areas

A powerful earthquake struck central Japan on Monday, triggering warnings for residents to evacuate some areas on its west coast, destroying buildings, knocking out power to thousands of homes and disrupting travel to the region.

The quake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 triggered waves of around 1 metre along parts of the Sea of Japan coast, with authorities saying larger waves could follow.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued tsunami warnings for the coastal prefectures of Ishikawa, Niigata and Toyama. A major tsunami warning - the first since the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Japan - was initially issued for Ishikawa but later downgraded.

Russia also issued tsunami warnings in its far eastern cities of Vladivostok and Nakhodka.

Several houses have been destroyed and army units have been dispatched to help with rescue operations, top government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi told reporters, adding that authorities were still assessing the extent of the damage.

More strong quakes in the area, where seismic activity has been simmering for more than three years, could occur over coming days, JMA official Toshihiro Shimoyama said.

In comments to the press shortly after the quake struck, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also warned residents to prepare for more disasters.

"Residents need to stay on alert for further possible quakes and I urge people in areas where tsunamis are expected to evacuate as soon as possible," Kishida said.

"Run!" a bright yellow warning flashed across television screens advising residents in specific areas of the coast to immediately evacuate their homes.

Images carried by local media showed a building collapsing in a plume of dust in the coastal city of Suzu and a huge crack in a road in Wajima where panicked-looking parents clutched their children. There have been reports of at least 30 collapsed buildings in Wajima, NHK reported, citing the city's fire department.

The quake also jolted buildings in the capital Tokyo, some 500 km from Wajima on the opposite coast.

More than 36,000 households had lost power in Ishikawa and Toyama prefectures, utilities provider Hokuriku Electric Power (9505.T) said.

High speed rail services to Ishikawa have been suspended while telecom operators Softbank (9434.T) and KDDI (9433.T) reported phone and internet service disruptions in Ishikawa and Niigata, according to their websites.

Japanese airline ANA (9202.T) turned back planes headed to airports in Toyama and Ishikawa, while Japan Airlines (9201.T) cancelled most of its services to Niigata and Ishikawa regions and authorities said one of Ishikawa's airports was closed.

Japan issues tsunami warnings, orders evacuations after earthquakes

Japanese authorities issued tsunami alerts and evacuation announcements Monday after a series of earthquakes shook the west part of the main island.

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake was reported around 4 p.m., the strongest of more than a dozen documented by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Major tsunami warnings were issued for Ishikawa prefecture, while the rest of the country's western coast was also issued less severe warnings.

"Every minute counts. Please evacuate to a safe area immediately," said government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi.

The earthquakes disrupted train lines, cut off power to multiple areas, and ignited fires in residential buildings necessitating emergency response.

The Japanese Self-Defense Force is contributing to disaster relief in multiple prefectures. No deaths have been confirmed from the natural disasters yet.

Meteorologists say there's a possibility for further powerful quakes in the next several days.

The New Year's Day natural disasters raised tsunami concerns across the sea in both North Korea and Russia.

Additionally, South Korea's meteorological authorities announced heightened caution, urging vigilance on the country's eastern coast in case of delayed after-effects.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told the press that an emergency center has been established to collect and disseminate information on the earthquake and tsunami risk as the situation develops.

Tsunami warnings are still in place and evacuation orders are still ongoing.

Sacrificing for the Greater Good

Sacrificing for the Greater Good

I think many people believe that our society has gotten so complex, with so many people, and so much need for consumption of natural resources in order to be comfortable, that what the government is forcing on us now is required to survive.

This includes all the control, restrictions, forced vaccines, lockdowns, censorship of free speech, 15-minute cities, and a myriad of other restrictions and mandates. This belief is inanely stupid, but stupid is as stupid does. What can ‘ya say?

Hey, I’m really tired of pussy footing around all this garbage. I’m now calling a spade a spade and forgetting about being polite or politically correct. These people who believe this charade are destroying our lives, as well as destroying humanity itself.

I’ve been reading a lot of Patrick Wood lately, check him out if you haven’t already. I seem to be a bit slow to the draw with this stuff and often am the last to discover something that most of you have known about for decades.

Wood pulls us way up for the bird’s eye view of all of this, which is very helpful for me in order to get a better perspective. Of course, I’ve known about the effort at global centrist government from the Klaus Schwab perspective but wasn’t really aware of the beginnings of all of this with the Trilateral Commission founded by our dear friend David Rockefeller and his buddies Zbigniew Brzezinski and Jimmy Carter (who woulda thunk?) in the ‘70s. And of course, quite a bit was going on even before that date. The UN’s utopian/dystopian Sustainable Development goals, which include the smart city initiatives, Agenda 21, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, was not something I was even aware of until relatively recently (2022 or so).

What is clear, in a broad general way, is the underlying carrot/stick approach to all of this. The carrot has been dangling around for decades, and we are just now beginning to get a teeny piece of the stick. Really good shrews (which I am not, my nose is clearly not long enough) knew what was going on since day one. Short nosed shrews, like me, need a bit of the stick to start to really figure it out. Sheep apparently need to be whacked silly before they will even notice. And the serious whacking has not yet begun.

Wood speaks of Antony Sutton, an early very long nosed shrew, who came up with “Sutton’s Paradox” (actually Wood may have come up with the adage that fits Sutton’s work and views). “The degree of personal response is inversely proportional to the length of time to personal pain.” This should be renamed, “The Sheep’s Credo.” The sheep are feeling very little of the stick these current days.

All of this looks absolutely wonderful to them. They are first told of the planet dying due to climate change (and of course, we are all at fault), they are clearly aware of poverty, racism, human rights and women rights violations around the world, and of course the dangers of disease, viruses, and pandemics. Then they are told their GloboCap organizations such as the UN, the WEF, and the WHO are out there to keep them safe and happy.

Just look at the 17 Sustainable Development goals. Who would argue that these are wonderful targets for a better world? End poverty, end hunger, foster gender equality, clean water for everyone—you would have to be a pretty cold not to agree the world would be a better place if these goals were achieved. What a nice fat juicy carrot. The first sign of the stick is realizing these carrot goals are a bit too wonderful. Sounds a trifle utopian to me, eh? And we all know, at least those of us with a brain aged older than 10 in its mental capacity—utopia = dystopia.

So, what’s the problem? If you have an idealistic sort of mind, why not pursue these lofty objectives? First of all, the folks heading up all of this have brains older than a 10-year-old. They know this is all bunk. They know it is carrot material, and the whole point is to get all of us “7-year-old mental equivalents” to come on board with it and bleat out, “tell me, tell me, what can I do to help? Tell me what I need to do, please, please, please, I want all of these things too!”

The answer? You tell me. You’ve heard it, “minimize your carbon footprint, buy electric cars, eat bugs, don’t travel so much, live in smart cities, take vaccines we don’t know about, recycle, pack it up and die, or commit suicide…” On and on and on. And that is just the beginning.

The problem here is first the unrealistic goals, that should be the first clue. But even if the goals were realistic, it is the manner in which all this is being carried out that presents the bigger problem. The goals are a ruse, a carrot, because the real goal is at the very least to create a central, unelected, unrepresentative, technocratic world government that will ultimately control every single aspect of our lives—including creating a synthetic body.

And not to our benefit either, it will be a world created just for a very small elite group that is in control of every minutiae of life on the planet. This is only the beginning and can get pretty weird if you delve into all this, as I know many of you have. I’m not telling you the half of it. And as you descend into this rabbit hole you will start to feel you are in a very macabre science fiction horror film. Yes, it is that bad. It is nearly unimaginable.

“Oh, but we have to save the planet! Shouldn’t we be willing to make sacrifices to do that? Shouldn’t we be willing, for the good of others, to cut back on our consumption, restrict our freedoms, become slaves, er, servants to this system in order to make a better world??”

No. We do not. But it sure seems that way, doesn’t it?

But much of the horrific picture being painted by the agenda is simply not true. And even if it all were true, the way to go about remedying the situation is not how the globalists are proceeding. Their agenda is evil, it is genocidal, not only to humans, but to every living organism on earth, and it is entirely fabricated as a means to obtain control and exploitation over the population of the earth—at least what will be left of it once the first culling operation is completed.

Don’t buy the carrot for a second. The stick is sure to follow. And that stick is a humdinger.

The Psychology Of Totalitarianism And The Rise Of Propaganda-Dependent Elites And Lonely Masses

The Rise Of Propaganda-Dependent Elites And Lonely Masses

In my opinion, one of the more important speeches provided at the recent Fourth International COVID/Crisis Summit, held last month in Bucharest Romania, was delivered by my friend and colleague Dr. Mattias Desmet. Many but perhaps not all readers of this substack will be familiar with his groundbreaking synthesis published under the title The Psychology of Totalitarianism.

The history of the CIA since its founding is intimately wrapped up in Operation Mockingbird, a concerted campaign continuously developed since the 1940s to control U.S. and global media, reporting (and “reporters”), and academia. Together with MI5/MI6 in the UK, this “Mighty Wurlitzer” has been used to shape a narrative—a series of carefully promoted U.S. Government lies—which have dominated the worldview of literally all Western nation citizens.

As Mattias explains in this lecture, the continuing advancement of these propaganda capabilities has been considered necessary to prop up, “legitimize,” and provide cover for a wide range of nefarious, self-serving actions on the part of a very small group of hereditary “Elites” who have sought to control the peoples, governments, and economies of the world—at the expense of the interests of humanity at large.

The rest of us have paid an enormous price in suffering and psychological damage, which is rooted in a sense of disaffection from each other and society—loneliness.

Perhaps one of the most positive aspects of the COVID crisis is that many, including myself and perhaps also yourself, have become aware that we are being manipulated, lied to, and forced to comply with the wishes of these Globalist Elites who exert their will via force, violence, and coercion on a global scale. The work of reporters Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi (The Racket News) and so many others have picked up where Carl Bernstein once left off in documenting the Censorship-Industrial complex. We now have the documents and receipts demonstrating how thoroughly we have all been played. The question now is what to do about it.

In his speech at ICS IV, Dr. Desmet provides a glimpse into his prescription for healing those of us who have been damaged, and his vision for how we can recover our sovereignty, personal psychological autonomy, and rebuild a more functional society devoid of the nefarious hidden hand of Elite-sponsored propaganda and psychological manipulation.

I heartily recommend reviewing and carefully considering his thoughts, and I eagerly look forward to his new book in which he provides further details.

Dear friends,

A few weeks ago I gave a speech at the fourth International Crisis Summit in the Romanian Parliament. Below you find the text of the speech I prepared and the video recording of the speech I actually gave. I usually don’t prepare a speech, simply because for some reason I never stick to the plan. Ultimately, I always express the words as they come on the spot and at the moment.

This time was no different—the text below and the actual speech are different. That being said, I hope you will read it. In the beginning I repeat some things about totalitarianism that you might be familiar with if you’ve listened to my interviews. But the rest of the text is all about the perversion of political discourse in our society and the need for a new type of politician who leaves propaganda and rhetoric behind and re-appreciates truth speech.

Warm wishes,

Mattias

As some of you might know, I wrote a book, titled “The Psychology of Totalitarianism.” It is about a new kind of totalitarianism that is emerging now, a totalitarianism which is not so much a communist or fascist totalitarianism, but a technocratic totalitarianism.

I have articulated my theory on totalitarianism on so many occasions. I will only present the gist of it here and move on to a problem which is particularly relevant for an address in a political institution such as this parliament: the perversion of political discourse in the Enlightenment tradition.

Here is in a nutshell what I articulated on totalitarianism throughout the last years: totalitarianism is not a coincidence. It is a logical consequence of our materialist-rationalist view on man and the world. When this view on man and the world became dominant, as a spontaneous consequence, a new elite ánd a new population emerged. A new elite that excessively used propaganda as a means to control and steer the population; and a population which lapsed more and more into loneliness and disconnectedness, both from its social and its natural environment.

These two evolutions, the emergence of an elite that uses propaganda and a lonely population, reinforced each other. The lonely state is exactly the state in which a population is vulnerable for propaganda. In this way, a new kind of masses or crowds emerged throughout the last two centuries: the so-called lonely masses.

People fall prey to mass formation to escape a pervasive feeling of loneliness and disconnectedness, induced by the rationalization of the world and the ensuing industrialization of the world and the excessive use of technology. They merge together in fanatic mass behavior because this seems to free them from their lonely, atomized state.

And that is exactly the big illusion of mass formation: belonging to a mass doesn’t liberate a human being from its lonely state. Not at all. A mass is a group that is formed, not because individuals connect to each other, but because each individual separately is connected to a collective ideal. The longer a mass formation exists, the more solidarity they feel for the collective and the less solidarity and love they feel for other individuals.

That’s exactly why in the end stage of mass formation and totalitarianism, every individual reports every other individual to the collective, or to the state, if they think that other individual is not loyal enough to the state. And in the end, the unthinkable happens, with mothers reporting their children to the state and children their parents.

The lonely masses distinguish themselves in several respects from the physical masses of earlier times: they can be much better controlled, they are less unpredictable than physical masses, and they last longer, in particular if they are constantly fed by propaganda through mass media. The creation of long-lasting lonely masses through propaganda was the psychological basis for the emergence of the large totalitarian systems of the 20th century. Only if a mass formation exists for decades can it be made the basis of a state system.

The emergence of lonely masses led to Stalinism and Nazism in the beginning of the 20th century and now it might lead to technocratic totalitarianism. I described the psychological processes involved in the emergence of lonely masses on many occasions, and I won’t repeat it here.

Today, here, in the Romanian parliament, a political institution, I address politicians. I want to tell you that politicians have a particular responsibility in these times of emerging totalitarianism. Totalitarianism, as Hannah Arendt said, is a diabolic pact between the masses and the political elites. Political elites need to contemplate –scrutinize the ethical qualities of their speech. There is something wrong with political discourse. This is what I intend to say: political discourse is perverted.

The leaders cannot overtly impose their will anymore to the population. Nobody would accept that within a materialist-rationalist society. Hence, the only way to make the population do what the leaders want, is to make them do what the leaders want without them knowing that they do what the leaders want. In others words: the only way to control the population is through manipulation.

Christian Physician Fired For Response To Questions On Gender Ideology

Christian Physician Fired For Response To Questions On Gender Ideology

Christian physician assistant Valerie Kloosterman has filed suit against University of Michigan Health after losing her job due to her response to questions about gender pronouns and gender reassignment surgery. She is represented by First Liberty Institute.

“They asked me very specifically, ‘Will you use preferred pronouns, and will you refer for gender surgery?’ I said, ‘I can’t do that,’” Kloosterman told CBN News. She claimed one supervisor said she was evil and cited her disagreement with radical gender ideology as the cause of suicides of people suffering with gender confusion. The supervisor prohibited Kloosterman from bringing her Bible or sharing her faith at work. Kloosterman was eventually terminated for her beliefs.

According to Kloosterman’s attorney Kayla Toney, no patient had ever asked the physician assistant to use preferred pronouns or for gender reassessment or drug referrals—“This was all hypothetical.” Kloosterman had worked in the hospital for 17 years and received glowing reviews and feedback from supervisors.

In summer of 2021, after a mandatory training on diversity and inclusion, Kloosterman was given the mandatory online survey. Kloosterman said that she had been given an ultimatum before the training and survey that if she did not complete it, she risked termination. The survey primarily contained questions to ensure employees understood HIPPA, emergency protocols, roles within administration, et cetera.

However, one question gave Kloosterman pause: a true-or-false question regarding whether gender is “fluid.” “The main point of the question was stating that gender is fluid,” she told First Liberty. “There was no place for me to just simply state … that this would have been compromising my faith.”

She raised her questions to her supervisor and office manager, who pointed her to the department of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). “It should have been welcoming,” she said, “and all the other statements that they had stated that they were inclusive, and that should include Christians.” Kloosterman met with the DEI director as well as the human resources director, the physician assistant council member and a member of the DEI.

In the meeting, Kloosterman was called “evil” and a “liar.” “They also told me that I could not bring my Christian faith with me to the office either literally or figuratively,” she said. It ultimately led to her termination.

First Liberty argues that Kloosterman is protected under the First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech and free exercise of religion, as well as Title VII—a Federal law that protects employees from discrimination, in which religion is listed as a protected class. According to Toney, Kloosterman’s clinic accommodated a male physician who did not want to perform exams on females, as well as doctors who did not want to prescribe narcotics. “The university had an obligation to give [Kloosterman] a religious accommodation,” Toney said.

According to CBN, five states have already passed medical conscience protections due to cases like Kloosterman’s, and more will consider the matter in the coming year.

“Nobody should abandon their faith,” Kloosterman said. “We need to be emboldened. This was not an easy decision for our family, but … may the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart just simply be pleasing to God, and may God be glorified in what happens.”
