Joel Rosenberg: Rumors Of War

If China invades Taiwan, it’s World War III – that’s why Trump spent more time on China than Israel during State of the Union

Have you noticed how often President Donald J. Trump is talking about the real and rising risks of the eruption of War World Three?

In his Oval Office argument with President Volodymyr Zelensky, he rightly chastised the Ukrainian leader for refusing to thank the U.S. for its $350 billion worth of military and economic support, refusing to work seriously towards a ceasefire, and refusing to understand just how close Russian President Vladimir Putin is to using tactical nuclear weapons to win the three year long war and humiliate and devastate – if not annihilate – Ukraine once and for all.

“You're, right now, not in a very good position   you're not in a good position  you don't have the cards right now,” Trump told the shockingly belligerent and disrespectful Zelensky.

“You're gambling with the lives of millions of people,” Trump continued. “You're gambling with World War Three. You're gambling with World War Three, and what you're doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country, far more than a lot of people say they should.”

At the same time, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are working closely together on a strategy to stop the Iranian regime from building nuclear bombs and missiles.

Why the urgency?

Because Trump genuinely – and rightly – fears that Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is extremely close to building The Bomb and that he truly wants to start World War Three, annihilate Israel, our Arab allies, and eventually the United States, and bring about the Islamic version of the End of Days.

But those are not the only threats the new American Commander-in-Chief must deal with.

“President Trump focused more on China than any other country in the State of the Union address on Tuesday night,” I noted.

“He's trying to prevent a massive takeover of the Pacific by Communist China and [a Chinese takeover of] the global economic sphere.”

That said, I expressed concern that Trump is not yet doing enough to counter Beijing.

“I'm not sure if he's even focused enough right now on Taiwan because he’s got Iran and Ukraine really cooking, and he's trying to deal with both of those issues, and Gaza,” I explained.

This is not criticism of the President, rather, an expression of genuine concern that the President and his team will do everything possible to prevent the utter catastrophe it would be if Chinese dictator Xi Jinping thinks he sees an opening and decides to blindside Trump by launching a massive surprise attack on Taiwan - the kind of attack I write about in the new novel.

“The commander of the Indo-Pacific command for U.S. forces has voiced a lot of concern in recent weeks that this is really inching much closer to what he thinks could be an actual move on Taiwan,” Shannon noted.

“But you talk about how China has tentacles in so many other things,” Shannon added. “They're also really helping with ambitions in Iran, their nuclear program….They're selling weapons, you say, to Israel’s enemies.”

True.

That’s exactly what I’ve been warning about.

“When you think about Communist China, you need to think obviously about the risk that if they were to move on Taiwan – and take this little democratic ally island – they are creating a stepping stone towards dominance in the Pacific,” I told her.

“And they will freak out every American ally [in the region]. But it’s not just the Pacific.”

“China is moving to build – has built – a 25-year strategic alliance with the Iranian regime, the most dangerous terrorist regime on the planet,” I added.

“Communist China is buying 90% of the black market oil that Iran is selling, in defiance of international and American sanctions.”

Where is much of that money going?

“It goes to Tehran and then it goes to Hamas,” I explained. “It goes to Hezbollah. It goes to the Houthis. It goes to fight and kill Israelis.”
