September 16 Looms As Deadline For Major Railroad Strike And 'National Economic Disaster'

As September 16th Deadline Looms, Major Freight Railroads Prepare for Possible Strike Costing US Economy More than $2 Billion a Day

In an already fragile economy with inflation at 40-year highs, out of control government spending and broken supply chains,  major freight railroads are preparing for a possible strike and service disruption as a September 16th deadline looms. The supply chain disaster under the Biden administration is poised to become even worse.

America’s freight railroads cover a nearly 140,000 mile network across 49 states.  A strike would shutdown 7,000 Class I trains per day as well as disrupting passenger and commuter trains. Freight trains transport nearly every sector of our economy including agricultural, industrial, wholesale, retail and resource-based sectors.

The Association of American Railroads  details the devastating impact on the economy if the strike proceeds.

Major freight railroads, in a bid to apply pressure on unions and Congress, say a strike that could come after a key deadline passes next week would cost the economy more than $2 billion a day and disrupt deliveries of all kinds of goods and passenger traffic nationwide.

The Association of American Railroads trade group on Thursday issued a report estimating the dire consequences of a strike. Their report came a day after Labor Secretary Marty Walsh took part in talks in a bid to hammer out an agreement.

A strike or lockout won’t be allowed until next Friday at the soonest under the federal law that governs railroad negotiations.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday called for urgent action to avoid a strike and a “national economic disaster.”

“A shutdown of the nation’s rail service would have enormous national consequences. It would lead to perishable foods such dairy, fruits, and vegetables spoiling at their points of origin, would halt Amtrak service … disrupt materials and goods being delivered to factories and ports, and would inhibit the transport of heating fuel and other important fuels and chemicals,” the Chamber said. “The costs of such a shutdown to the U.S. economy could come out to $2 billion per day.”

The U.S. supply chain could take another critical blow, as tens of thousands of railroad workers prepare for a major labor strike. The Association of American Railroads (AAR) has failed to reach a deal with two of the largest labor unions in the railroad industry. Approximately 90,000 railroad workers could go on strike by late September. The failed negotiations have prompted Union Pacific and CSX to announce “contingency plans,” as a full-blown work stoppage seems inevitable.

The American Baker’s Association, representing more than 300 companies, warned that “Even a temporary interruption would create a devastating ripple effect” across US supply chains.

Norfolk Southern will enact their own “contingency plans” across their network. This will include a “controlled shut down” starting Friday September 16th. This is when the “cooling-off period” expires. The Railway Labor Act was implemented by Biden officials two months ago to prevent a strike. It requires a 30-day cooling period. After September 16, the railroad industry will have to appeal to Congress to reach a deal with the labor unions.

The AAR warns that the major railroad strike would take a $2 billion per day toll on the US economy. Approximately 29 percent of all US freight is transported via rail. About half of all railroad freight includes bulk commodities like food, energy, metals, chemicals, and wood products. The other half includes consumer goods and household items. The backlog in shipments will inevitably contribute to higher food and energy costs.

Over three fourths of the freight is transported by just a handful of companies: BNSF, Union Pacific, Class I intermodal traffic, CSX and Norfolk Southern. BNSF Railway is urging its customers to contact Congressional lawmakers so they will “intervene” to “quickly resolve the service disruption.” BNSF is preparing to secure the most important shipments starting Monday, September 19th.

As the cost of energy, food, and housing skyrockets under the Biden administration, working Americans will increasingly look for higher wages. More labor strikes are only inevitable now, as hard-earned money loses its spending power in the hyper-inflated economy. More workers are going to demand salary increases just to pay the rent and survive in a reeling economy that has been irreparably harmed by the useless Biden administration.

When an Administration is sole contributor of the problem as reputed and obvious IMO, and not the solution, we hear about these kind of happenings. Real changes real soon must occur, and American's voices should ring loud and clear for the madness to cease, IMO!

To watch this Nation held hostage by the Government that was only formed, or meant, to SERVE the people and are not IMO, this trickery is unacceptable; Hence: No wonder we have our heads up other countries butts, right? So, it's to create the deceptive illusion taking care of our own backyard comes 10 Billion plus stupid Agenda's restricted last place, IMO?

NO, America comes first! The people must insist we get back our Nation or Russia/CCP will be the least of the power figure heads problems predict, IMO!!! If American's are not treated fairly & happy, then no one will be, right? We have seen this story played out over the last 21 years, in my opinion, and here we are, America is becoming third world tyrannically governed, IMO! Abusive tactic's come from the head of the snake, and pray God guides us and Blesses America with divine timing, because a snake caused the whole mess, remember? We pray the scare-crow gets a brain, or we put soon in folks with brains wired for being in alignment with God's will!

Is your hope in the political system?

Are you serving the earthly political system rather than the Lord?
We do not have the capacity to serve two masters. You are either serving the world or serving Christ. We are to be ambassadors of Christ. This world is passing away. This political system is against Christ. We are pilgrims just passing through.
Stop loving this present world.

America is just a pawn in God's chess game. He and the ones who are for Him win in the end. The only earthly kingdom you'll see arise is one of evil. America will lot prevail, neither will any other nation by itself. It will all be "one", ruled by the antichrist. This is all in your Bible and has been there for thousands of years. I encourage you start reading Bible prophecy. Spoiler alert. America's earthly triumph is not in it.

In answering best as can with interpreting, in my opinion, some judgmental questioning, answer is, I do indeed worship the Lord, do you?!! Therefore, serving Christ, no hope in political, but hopes in good souls prevailing whom also know the Lord!!! Writing comments to Articles that express reputed updates for darkness over this world does not negate one being a Christian; suggest addressing the Article yourselves perhaps, and not judge expressed words of resolutions for "Hope". Its PC words that started this movement of evil, expressions for good are still an occurrence too if believe, right?! Passing through is great, no one said anything about loving present evil present in today's world! Reread PLEASE, Please read my comment again!!

I also believe in praying to the one master our Lord daily, which since I have NOT the power to decide whether Jesus is returning tomorrow, the next minute, or years from now, I personally have NOT checked out from praying for planet Earth's souls, for knowing God is in control yet hears our prayers!! It's how we react to any suffering while on Earth, but God does not want us to suffer we know this. Living on Faith, Hope, Love, and prayers works. Thank-you for the concern though, being saved is great, but doing whatever God wants from us is something we each will hear, right? So, maybe some hear to "Do Nothing" but know the End on Earth is near? OK, fine, we can still enjoy while praying & passing, in my opinion! Everyone has their journey, agreed! If all is lost, why are we even reading Articles, and enjoy writing, uplifting each other while here, etc.?

This is why used words like:
reputed info, (not knowing truths yet), (cause words are misconstrued & scrutinized today like mine were, IMO), in my opinion, Hope, divine timing, in alignment with GOD'S WILL, predict, are all in my wording in a humble expression for not having an acceptance for evil swirling around as being expressed by other's WORDS in said Articles coming from a site in my opinion, I believe has great information that does comes to light! (: Fear not, feel freedom to write lengthy as words are under attack in need of explaining in passing through, right! Still, folks just hear, see, read, and understand what fits their beliefs at the end of the day while passing through. That is all folks!

We must all come to Christ he is the only solution. May God open our eyes it all written in black and white the truth is the only way prayer is the only way and faith we have the power to change things God bless us all.

In response to commentator stating, "America is just a pawn in God's chess game" now is sounding like a Troll, in my opinion. Man has free will, God does not play chess games as most folks know already, IMO. Don't forget to read the whole Bible first, or listen to great teachings, then read Revelations is suggested to ur smart comment stance of Holier-than-thou comment attacking others IMO; End of responding, and suggest future to address objective informative Articles while not being so hypocritical, in my opinion! What the Bible says about the end of life?
If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Now meanwhile, we forgive other's and sometimes tolerate smarty pants too, right?
