We Should Not Be Surprised

He told us to watch, and we could see the end of the age approaching.

Those who are watching see it, but sadly, most aren’t watching, and most don’t see it.

(BTW: In an article dated June 5, 2025, the Prophecy News Watch staff wrote, “Every fulfilled prophecy stands as proof of its credibility–from the birth of Christ to the rebirth of Israel in 1948. We don’t need to guess whether God’s Word is true. History has already confirmed it.”)

Here are some recent events that seem to indicate that the end of the age is here.

One, concerning wars and rumors of wars: on May 28, 2025, Germany agreed to help Ukraine produce long-range missiles that can reach Russian territory.

(More: On June 1, 2025, Russia said this is an escalation of the war and in response Russia is preparing to launch a massive ground assault to seize 11 more villages in Ukraine.)

Two, on May 22, 2025, it was reported that France is pressuring Western nations to recognize the existence of a Palestinian state in Gaza at an upcoming meeting on June 17-20, 2025.

On May 28, 2025, it was reported that:

• Israel has reportedly warned key European nations that any unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state could prompt Jerusalem to extend sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria.
• Unilateral moves against Israel will be met with unilateral moves by Israel.

(Update: At a UN Security Council meeting on May 29, 2025, the U.S. firmly rejected France’s attempt to recognize a Palestinian State.)

(More: On May 31, 2025, it was reported that the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, said, “If France is really so determined to see a Palestinian state, I have a suggestion for them–carve out a piece of the French Riviera and create a Palestinian state. They are welcome to do that, but they are not welcome to impose that kind of pressure on a sovereign nation. And I find it revolting that they think they have the right to do such a thing.”)

(My opinion: The Bible says all that is in heaven and earth is God’s; I Chron. 29:11. The UK, France, and the Arabs will pay a heavy price if they try to create a Palestinian State in the Gaza Strip.)

Three, concerning Israel’s great army and its war with Hezbollah in Lebanon: on May 29, 2025, it was reported that,

• The Lebanese army has dismantled large parts of Hezbollah’s infrastructure in southern Lebanon with the help of Israeli intelligence.
• Both Israeli and American officials expressed surprise at the extent of the progress.
• Lebanon is also promoting a multi-phase plan to disarm Palestinian armed groups operating primarily in densely populated refugee camps.

What the Mount of Olives tells us about Yeshua’s return

The Mount of Olives, to the east of Jerusalem, gives one of the most spectacular views of the city, and is one visitors should not miss. Yeshua famously sat there, taking in the panoramic view of the city where God chose to put His name, and wept.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,” He lamented, “the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!” (Matthew 23:37).

It’s not a high mountain, just over 800 meters (about 2,625 feet) above sea level, and it’s possible to walk up to the scenic viewpoint in a matter of minutes. However, the path is very steep. Between Jerusalem’s Old City and the Mount of Olives lies the Kidron Valley, and heading up from there one of the first major sites along the way is the Garden of Gethsemane, an ancient olive grove at the foot of the mountain.

Gethsemane, where Yeshua famously wrestled in prayer, has olive trees that date back all the way to His time, some being 2000 years old. Right before Yeshua was arrested there, drops of His blood fell to the ground rather than tears. The name Gethsemane also relates to the olive trees, in that it means “olive press”. It was there that the olives were crushed to produce oil, much as the Messiah’s will was yielded to God’s. But what a precious result of the crushing!

In Jewish tradition the mountain is sometimes known as “the Mount of Anointment”, because of the many olive trees and the olive oil produced there, were used to anoint God’s chosen ones. The word Messiah means “anointed one.” Today there is a beautiful church beside the Garden of Gethsemane, designed to give a sense of the night Yeshua was betrayed. 

Yeshua prayed “Not my will, but Yours be done.” In the Messianic prophecy about that moment in history, Isaiah wrote, “It was the will of the Lord to crush him” (Isaiah 53:10). But of course, the story didn’t end there. As Isaiah continued to prophesy, “When his soul makes an offering for guilt, He shall see his offspring; He shall prolong his days,” and adding, “the will of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.” God’s future plans for the Messiah were far from finished.

Slightly further up the path are other churches, one called Dominus Flevit, shaped like a tear, to mark the place Yeshua wept over Jerusalem. There is an iconic Russian Orthodox church of Mary Magdalene, with golden onion-shaped cupolas, a little further up, and before you know it, you’re at the lookout point. 

Along the pathway, looking over the wall to the right, there are countless gravestones. Why? It is believed by Jews, Christians, and Muslims that this Eastern approach to Jerusalem will play a key role in the Messiah’s glorious coming. It is thought that being buried closer to the significant spot would mean a speedier resurrection.

Anti-ICE rioters launched explosives at a federal building in Los Angeles on Saturday evening.

Violent protests began on Friday after ICE agents conducted multiple raids in downtown Los Angeles on Friday.

The riots continued into Saturday. Protestors started fires, threw projectiles at law enforcement officers and damaged property in response to LA Mayor Karen Bass’s call for action.

Democrat Karen Bass riled up the anti-ICE crowd and fanned the flames.

The rioters launched explosives at a federal detention facility in downtown Los Angeles and then took off.

Breaking… Border Czar Tom Homan: “We Are Going to Bring National Guard in Tonight” to Los Angeles (UPDATE: Trump Orders 2000 Troops to LA)

Border Czar Tom Homan announced Saturday evening that the Trump administration is bringing the National Guard into Los Angeles after two days of obstructionist and violent protests of immigration raids and calls to kill ICE agents being spray-painted around the city. (Update at end of article with White House statement)

Protesters escalated the violence Saturday by throwing rocks at ICE and other federal law enforcement vehicles leaving a raid at a Home Depot in the city of Paramount in Los Angeles County. Several windshields were shattered and one agent got hit in the hand, according to photos posted by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin. Protesters also set up a barricade on a roadway and tried to physically block a U.S. Marshal’s Service bus.

Homan spoke about deploying the National Guard in an interview with Fox News Saturday evening:

“This is about enforcing the law and again we’re not going to apologize for doing it. We are stepping up. She (Democrat L.A. Mayor Karen Bass) says they are going to mobilize, well, guess what? We are ahead of the game. We were already mobilizing. We are going to bring National Guard in tonight. We’re going to continue doing our jobs. We are going to push back on these people and enforce the law.”

DARPA is getting into the business of simulating disease outbreaks, including modeling interventions such as mass vaccination campaigns, lockdowns, and communication strategies.

Last week, the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) put out a Request for Information (RFI) seeking information regarding “state-of-the-art capabilities in the simulation of disease outbreaks.”

The Pentagon’s research and development funding arm wants to hear from academic, industry, commercial, and startup communities on how to develop “advanced capabilities that drive technical innovation and identify critical gaps in bio-surveillance, diagnostics, and medical countermeasures” in order to “improve preparedness for future public health emergencies.”

“Intervention Strategies: Detail the range of intervention strategies that can be modeled, including (but not limited to) vaccination campaigns, social distancing measures, quarantine protocols, treatments, and public health communication strategies. Specifically, describe the ability to model early intervention and its impact on outbreak trajectory” – DARPA, Advanced Disease Outbreak Simulation Capabilities RFI, May 2025

As if masks, social distancing, lockdowns, and vaccination mandates under the unscientific guise of slowing the spread and preventing the transmission of COVID weren’t harmful enough, the US military wants to model the effects of these exact same countermeasures for future outbreaks.

The RFI also asks participants “Fatality Rate & Immune Status: How are fatality rates and varying levels of population immunity (natural or vaccine-induced) incorporated into your simulations?“

Does “natural or vaccine-induced” relate to “population immunity” or “fatality rates” or both?

Moving on, the RFI gets into modeling lockdowns, social distancing, and mass vaccination campaigns, along with communication strategies:

“Intervention Strategies: Detail the range of intervention strategies that can be modeled, including (but not limited to) vaccination campaigns, social distancing measures, quarantine protocols, treatments, and public health communication strategies. Specifically, describe the ability to model early intervention and its impact on outbreak trajectory.“

The fact that DARPA wants to model these so-called intervention strategies just after the entire world experienced them suggests that these exact same measures will most likely be used again in the future.

“We are committed to developing advanced modeling capabilities to optimize response strategies and inform the next generation of (bio)technology innovations to protect the population from biological threats. We are particularly focused on understanding the complex interplay of factors that drive outbreak spread and evaluating the effectiveness of potential interventions.”

The Threat Posed By Iran’s Nuclear Ambitions And The Rapidly Escalating Crisis

Is Trump ‘Going Wobbly’ on Iran?

Uh oh. US President Donald J, Trump has reportedly fired a “slew of pro-Israel officials in America First ‘course correction,'” and that “Trump is looking for an Iran dove to take over as Middle East chief at National Security Council, while pushing for nuclear deal,” according to Middle East Eye.

The threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions, however, is no longer a distant concern – it is a rapidly escalating crisis with the most severe and immediate implications for Israel, the oil-rich Sunni Arab Gulf States, and North and South America. Trump appears to be scurrying to back down from “or there will be “all hell to pay,” and is possibly on the verge of letting Iran keep its uranium-enrichment centrifuges. Not an option.

Iran uses it centrifuges to enrich uranium to high levels. Highly enriched uranium is needed only for nuclear weapons. No highly enriched uranium, no nuclear bombs. Even one uranium-enrichment centrifuge in Iran’s possession is a nuclear weapon waiting to happen.

If the US Congress could please pass a bill as soon as possible preventing the US from allowing centrifuges in Iran, it would be an enormous benefit to US and global security.

Meanwhile, America’s enemies – Russia, China, North Korea and Venezuela – are waiting to see if the US actually has any real backbone before deciding if it is safe for them to go on offense again.

While Western nations thousands of miles away continue to treat Iran’s nuclear program as a remote diplomatic puzzle, Israel, a sovereign nation and the only democracy in the Middle East (just as Ukraine is a democracy, and what Russia really cannot tolerate) is forced to live every hour aware of Iran’s open, repeated and proud intentions to “wipe” it off the map. Iran has repeatedly called for “Death to Israel.”

Iran’s regime, through its proxies – Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, as well as direct Iranian ballistic missile attacks last year – has acted of that intent.

Iran’s regime has also made no secret of its calls for “Death to America.”

Iranian official Ayatollah Ahmad Khatemi announced in March 2025:

“America and the European troika of Germany, France, and England… We are telling you very clearly, the [Iranian] people are telling you that if you do not stop your threats, the great Iranian people – through its resistance – will wipe you off the face of history and politics.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has straightforwardly stated in 2023, “When you chant ‘Death to America!’ it is not just a slogan – it is a policy,” apparently with plans to assassinate presidential candidate Trump in 2024, as well as several senior US officials and a journalist.

In addition to repeated vows of “Death to America,” the Islamic Republic of Iran has made its genocidal ambitions toward Israel a cornerstone of its ideological identity. Khamenei has been refreshingly clear: “Israel will not see the next 25 years.”

In 2012, then Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad labeled Israel a “cancerous tumor,” and famously called for it to be “wiped” off the earth.

These statements have been echoed by generals in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who vowed to “annihilate” Israel. IRGC commander Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami vowed, “planning to break America, Israel, and their partners and allies. Our ground forces should cleanse the planet from the filth of their existence.”

This is not exactly the language of diplomacy – it is the language of genocide and war.

That Israel was previously excluded from crucial negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program for the Obama administration’s 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) “nuclear deal” was not only an insult but a catastrophic blunder.

The most endangered nation was not at the table. The result? A disastrous deal that gave Iran billions of dollars in sanctions relief, while leaving its nuclear infrastructure largely intact. That gift to Iran was accompanied by then President Barack Obama’s promises of nuclear weapons for Iran, conveniently “not on my watch” but after it – in fact, this coming October.

The West negotiated from a position of delusion, treating Iran as if it were a misunderstood power rather than a regime with rapacious, blood-curdling goals. Meanwhile, a dismissed Israel had to watch the entire process from the sidelines – its warnings ignored by foreign bureaucrats with no skin in the game.

There is no middle ground that works. Any deal that allows Iran to maintain its centrifuges is an enrichment program about to break out. It is also a reward for deception. Iran has lied repeatedly to international inspectors, violated multiple UN Security Council resolutions, and built covert nuclear sites for decades. Giving Iran billions in sanctions relief while letting them keep their bomb-making war machine is not diplomacy – it is a betrayal of the West.

Iran’s rulers believe that, with nuclear weapons, they would be untouchable – able to carry out attacks or threaten to, fund terror, and blackmail the world with impunity. At the top of Iran’s hit list are Israel and the US. Iran’s regime saw what happened to Libya’s Muammar Qaddafi when he gave up his nuclear arsenal.

When it comes to the Iranian nuclear threat, Israel does not just understand the stakes – it lives them. Any deal made without Israel’s acquiescence is not only illegitimate – it is worthless. Its voice is not optional, it is indispensable. Trump would do the world a favor to end Iran’s nuclear weapons program for once and for all – and let Israel in.

Iran Purchases Enough Fuel Materials From China For Up To 800 Ballistic Missiles

This week a report in The Wall Street Journal said Iran ordered large quantities of ammonium perchlorate—a key component for solid-fuel ballistic missiles—from China, despite the Islamic Republic's ballistic missile program being under Western scrutiny amid ongoing sensitive nuclear negotiations with the US.

The material could be used to produce up to 800 missiles and was placed by Pishgaman Tejarat Rafi Novin Co. from Lion Commodities Holdings Ltd. in Hong Kong. The report indicated the parts are to arrive in the coming months.

The WSJ raises the likelihood that some or much of the material could be transferred to Iran-backed proxy groups in the Mideast region, foremost among them Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who have been launching repeat ballistic missile attacks directly on Israel, even threatening cities as far away as Tel Aviv.

The deal with the Chinese company was likely finalized before Trump's offer to restart nuclear talks, which was kick-started in March.

China's Foreign Ministry has rejected the allegations, or is at least saying China is not aware of the transfer.

"The Chinese side has always exercised strict control over dual-use items in accordance with China’s export control laws and regulations and its international obligations," a spokesperson said.

According to background from the WSJ report:

Iran has been looking for ways to rebuild its so-called Axis of Resistance network of militias after Israel pummeled Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza and the Assad regime fell in Syria. U.S. and Israeli strikes on the Houthis damaged the group’s capabilities, though they still threaten Israel.

Iran recently transferred ballistic missiles to Shia militia groups in Iraq, who could target Israel and U.S. forces in the region they have previously attacked, the people confirmed. The missile transfers were previously reported by the Times of London.

Syria under the Jolani (Sharaa) regime will now be Sunni Islamist in orientation, and is already doing deals with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey. Iranian troops have been completely booted from Syria, and pro-Iranian militias in Western Iraq have been relatively quiet of late, also as the Pentagon has drawn down some key bases in northeast Syria (though the US occupation will remain for now).

Democrats are trying to break into the LA facility holding illegal immigrants. Riot police have deployed more tear gas to push crowds back.

Federal agents in tactical gear armed with military-style rifles threw flash-bang grenades to disperse an angry crowd near downtown Los Angeles on Friday as they conducted an immigration raid on a clothing wholesaler, the latest sign of tensions between protesters and law enforcement over raids carried out at stores, restaurants and court buildings.

The operation was one of at least three immigration sweeps conducted in Los Angeles on Friday. In the other one, federal agents converged at a Home Depot where day laborers regularly gather in search of work.

The raid at the clothing wholesaler began about 9:15 a.m. in the Fashion District, less than two miles from Los Angeles City Hall.

It was an extraordinary show of force. Dozens of federal agents wearing helmets and green camouflage arrived in two hulking armored trucks and other unmarked vehicles, and were soon approached by a crowd of immigrant activists and supporters. Some agents carried riot shields and others held rifles, as well as shotguns that appeared to be loaded with less-than-lethal ammunition.

Companies like Google and Microsoft have joined the new AI bonanza in the United States, secure in the knowledge that they will be the masters of AI here and abroad. They have forged ahead and are building massive AI server farms that are springing up like lawn mushrooms after a spring rain. With their eyes wide shut, their arrogance makes them ignore the warnings of AI experts. After all, what did the new masters of the universe have to fear?

The Chinese Communist Party, the CCP, is now creating their version of the Terminator -- an army of battlefield killer robots that will not be managed by humans in any way and, instead, will be controlled by an AI system. The Chinese plan for building such lethal autonomous robots was revealed by Zeng Yi, an executive in a Chinese government-owned company named Norinco. He said, “In future battlegrounds, there will be no people fighting,” adding that autonomous AI platforms are “inevitable.”

Gregory Allen, a director at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, reported Zeng’s comments after attending a conference in China in 2018. Allen said that the CCP removed Zeng’s comments from the conference summary because, “it was not in China’s interest to have that information in the open.”

The key words in all this are self-aware and autonomous. Remember Skynet in that Schwarzenegger film? It had become self-aware and decided that humanity had to be destroyed. Could that happen today? News reports from the last two years give us some hints.

The flights occurred at Edwards Air Force Base in California, and a safety pilot was on board the plane to take control if anything went wrong, but nothing did.

1 May2023 The Hill: Musk: There’s a chance AI ‘goes wrong and destroys humanity’ Leading AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton left Alphabet earlier this month, sounding alarms about the dangers of the tech he helped create, and he has warned AI could pose an existential threat to humanity and that “we should worry seriously about how we stop these things getting control over us.” Microsoft chief economist Michael Schwarz has cautioned AI will likely “be used by bad actors” and could “cause real damage.”

21 May 2023 Children’s Health Defense: On Tuesday, 80 artificial intelligence scientists and more than 200 “other notable figures” signed a statement that says, “mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.” Center for AI Safety, a U.S.-based nonprofit whose website hosts the statement.
