After warning of imminent attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure on Monday, the IDF began striking Hezbollah and Hamas terror targets in Lebanon, the military said.
The IDF said the strikes, which were carried out north of the Litani River, stopped attempts to rebuild terrorist infrastructure in the area.
The attack comprised four strikes, and two subterranean Hezbollah structures were among the infrastructure targeted, the army said.
The initial announcement warning of the strikes, made by IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee on X/Twitter, identified locations in the towns of Kfar Hatta and Ain Al-Tinah as the targets.
Adraee said action would be taken in response to attempts by Hezbollah to reestablish its activities in the area. It did not mention that Hamas targets were among those that would be hit.
Adraee’s post on X included maps of the imminent strike sites, with the target zones shaded in red.
“We urge the residents of the buildings marked in red in the attached maps and the buildings adjacent to them: You are located near buildings used by Hezbollah, and for your safety, you are required to evacuate them immediately and stay away from them by a distance of at least 300 meters,” he said.
The West is seeking regime change in Iran and is using the color-revolution playbook, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said, commenting on the ongoing protests in the Islamic Republic.
Foreign nations want to turn a peaceful protest into “cruel and senseless unrest,” she warned, adding that Moscow condemns interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
US President Donald Trump has openly expressed his support for the protesters in recent days. The US is “locked and loaded” to intervene in Iran to support the demonstrations, he said, adding that America would “start shooting” if the authorities use force against the crowds.
Israel openly endorsed the unrest as well. Its national intelligence agency Mossad has admitted to having operatives in the Islamic Republic.
Tehran has blamed the protests on Washington and West Jerusalem by saying that the US and Israel had a “big hand” in the unrest.
Russia “resolutely condemns disruptive foreign interference” in Iran’s domestic politics, Zakharova told journalists on Tuesday. Washington’s threats to use force against the Islamic Republic are “absolutely unacceptable,” she said, warning that any strikes against Iran could destabilize the entire Middle East.
The spokeswoman also blamed the economic crisis in Iran that triggered the protests on Western sanctions. The West has been “pressuring” Iran for years through the illegal restrictions, she said, adding that the sanctions were affecting the lives of ordinary people. Now, Western nations are trying to exploit the resulting social and economic tensions to “destroy the Iranian state,” she said.
On Monday, Trump stated that Washington was considering “strong options” against Iran amid the unrest. On Tuesday, the US warned Americans to “leave Iran” immediately. Tehran has previously warned that it could target US forces in the Middle East if Washington tries to intervene.

Trump’s actions are quite logical: dismantling Nicolas Maduro’s regime is crucial for turning Latin America’s resources into a source of short-term economic stability for the US. This is Trump’s ‘entrance ticket’ into the world of ‘new globalism’.
America cannot become an energy superpower unless it has control over Venezuela’s (and eventually Brazil’s and Iran’s) oil resources and eliminates ‘shadow fleets’ as soon as possible. Similarly, achieving full legal control over Greenland is essential for establishing the US as an Arctic power. Otherwise, it would be difficult for the US to maintain competitiveness as an energy superpower after 2030.
Certainly, an evolutionary path could involve investing in a costly and prolonged program to revive Alaska. However, that would take years, if not decades. Instead, Greenland presents an opportunity to quickly solidify a new political and geographical status.
Trump acts systematically, choosing his next steps based on the perceived weaknesses of his geopolitical competitors. Apparently, he believes that Europe is sufficiently weakened to engage in discussions about Greenland’s status at a completely different level than in the spring of 2025, when he had to back down.
We should also note that when discussing Greenland, Trump directly highlighted NATO’s inability to protect the island from external threats, even fabricated ones (like the prospect of Russia and China seizing the territory). Trump’s message is clear: he intends to reclaim any poorly defended ‘assets’.
Information trickling out of Iran on Tuesday suggests that a crackdown by authorities to end more than two weeks of widespread anti-government protests has likely been far more deadly than activists outside the country have reported. With phone lines opening back up for calls from inside the Islamic Republic, two sources, including one inside Iran, told CBS News on Tuesday that at least 12,000, and possibly as many as 20,000 people have been killed.
Britain's Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said in Parliament on Tuesday that the U.K. government believed there "may have been 2,000 people killed, there have been more. My fear is that the number may prove to be significantly higher."
The truth has been incredibly difficult to piece together due to Iran's hardline rulers cutting off internet access and phone service in the country for the last five days. While a complete internet shutdown in Iran remained in place for a fifth day, some Iranians were able to make phone calls out of the country on Tuesday, though it was still not possible to call into Iran from outside.
A source inside Iran who was able to call out told CBS News on Tuesday that activist groups working to compile a full death toll from the protests, based on reports from medical officials across the country, believed the toll was at least 12,000, and possibly as high as 20,000.
The same source said security forces were visiting the many private hospitals across Tehran, threatening staff to hand over the names and addresses of those being treated for injuries sustained in the protests.
An Iranian activist and blogger who identifies himself only as Vahid Online first posted the shocking 16-minute clip. Vahid said it was sent to him from a source who traveled about 600 miles to upload the video amid the communications blackout.
The graphic video shows people with what appear to be injuries caused by bullets and shotgun pellets, as well as other wounds, and piles of bloody clothing inside the morgue compound.
