Sleepwalking into Starvation

Iran War: Sleepwalking into Starvation

According to Oxford Economics, an independent economic advisory firm, in late March the price of the two main fertilizer ingredients, ammonia and urea, spiked 20% and 50% respectively in response to disruptions in the Persian Gulf.

Now that Iran has established a blockade and tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz in response to the United States and Israel attacking the country, large amounts of urea, ammonia, phosphates, and sulfur, critical components for fertilizer, are locked out of agricultural supply chains.

While the blockade is not an issue for Russia, the world’s largest exporter of urea, it is a significant issue for Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, Persian Gulf states currently prevented from exporting urea to market. India, Brazil, and the US are dependent on urea from the Gulf, while China, India, and the US depend on sulfur and ammonia exports from the region.

“The timing of the disruption makes the situation especially acute,” explains the Kiel Institute, a European research institute for global economic affairs. “March and April are peak months for fertilizer application in the Northern Hemisphere planting season. Although some market adjustment may occur over time, structural damage to supply chains and agricultural production is likely to persist.”

On March 9, the American Farm Bureau Federation sent a letter calling on President Trump to ensure safe passage of fertilizer shipments to the United States to stabilize costs and delivery ahead of spring planting season for farmers, the Detroit Free Press reported.

survey conducted by the federation in early April “shows 70% of respondents say fertilizer is so expensive that they will not be able to buy all the fertilizer they need.” More than 5,700 farmers, both Farm Bureau members and non-members, from every state and Puerto Rico took part in the survey.

The analysis reveals that almost 8 in 10 farmers in the southern U.S. say they can’t afford all needed supplies this year, followed by the Northeast and West at 69% and 66%, respectively, compared to 48% of the farmers in the Midwest.

While the Hormuz Strait blockade contributing to reduced production of fertilizer will produce food shortages and higher prices in the United States, the situation is for more dire elsewhere in the world. In Sudan, Yemen, and Syria, nearly 50 million people face serious food insecurity, while in Gaza, 94% of the population facing food shortages. The situation ongoing in the Strait of Hormuz will deepen the crisis.

If the war and blockade persist into summer, according to the United Nations World Food Program, the “total number of people around the world facing acute levels of hunger [an additional 45 million] could reach record numbers.”

The virtual shipping standstill in the Strait of Hormuz and mounting risks to Red Sea maritime traffic are already increasing energy, fuel, and fertilizer costs, deepening hunger beyond the Middle East. The conflict reverberates far and wide—and the world’s most vulnerable people are the ones who will be most exposed to its ripple effects.

Australian economist Steve Keen, known for predicting the 2008 financial crisis, warns that famine could begin within two months, with India likely among the first hit due to fertilizer shortages. “If we lost 20 per cent of the world’s fertilizer, we’d lose roughly 20 per cent of the world’s food, and it would cause a global famine,” he said. “Food production on the planet could fall 10-25 percent and there simply won’t be enough food for everyone on the planet.”

In addition to enlarging an already serious food insecurity crisis and increasing the possibility of famine, the maritime disruption will intensify economic pressure. “The combination of supply shortages, currency depreciation, and inflation could trigger broader economic instability,” notes the Al Habtoor Group, a United Arab Emirates conglomerate.

US planning to seize Iran-linked oil tankers, commercial ships worldwide in coming days: report

US planning to seize Iran-linked oil tankers, commercial ships worldwide in coming days: report

The US is reportedly weighing plans to board and seize Tehran-linked oil tankers worldwide —  eyeing a dramatic escalation against Iran at sea.

Those discussions come as tensions spike in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iranian forces fired on multiple commercial vessels Saturday and declared the vital shipping lane under their “strict control,” The Wall Street Journal reported.

That saber-rattling sent shipping firms scrambling — just a day after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi insisted the strait was open for business, a claim President Trump had welcomed.

Behind the scenes, US officials say the Pentagon is preparing to intercept and take control of commercial vessels tied to Iran — potentially far beyond the Middle East, the outlet reported.

The strategy is aimed at choking Tehran’s economy — with the hope it forces the Iranian regime to reopen the strait and bend in nuclear talks, according to the report.

Trump said Friday that Iran had agreed to hand over its stockpile of highly enriched uranium — an assertion Iranian officials quickly rejected. Sticking points remain over how long Tehran would halt enrichment and whether it would regain access to billions in frozen funds.

The US has already blocked 23 ships from leaving Iranian ports as part of a growing naval barricade, US Central Command posted on X Saturday.

Expanding that effort globally would put Iran-linked tankers — including those suspected of hauling weapons or sanction-busting oil — directly in Washington’s crosshairs.

“The US will actively pursue any Iranian-flagged vessel or any vessel attempting to provide material support to Iran,” Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine said Thursday, warning that so-called “dark fleet” ships are also fair game.

The stepped-up campaign — dubbed “Economic Fury” by Trump officials — could draw in US forces well beyond the Gulf, according to the Journal.

All of it is unfolding as a fragile cease-fire ticks toward its Wednesday expiration. Recent talks in Pakistan failed to produce a breakthrough, and there’s no date set for a second round.

Even so, both sides are hedging.

Iran is believed to still have thousands of short- and medium-range missiles and has begun pulling launchers out of underground storage, though heavy US strikes have dented its ability to quickly rebuild, US officials told the Journal.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said US forces are “maximally postured” if fighting resumes — but officials remain wary of putting boots on the ground.

For now, the White House appears focused on economic pressure.

Iran exports roughly 1.6 million barrels of oil a day — much of it to China through small independent refineries, the outlet reported — making its shipping network a prime target.

The Treasury Department has already rolled out fresh sanctions on ships, companies and figures tied to Iran’s shadow oil trade, while US prosecutors are gearing up to go after anyone caught buying or selling sanctioned crude, according to the report.

The US has already shown it has the capacity to carry out that playbook — tracking and seizing vessels tied to Venezuela in far-flung waters — and officials now appear ready to do the same to Iran.

The Engineered Collapse of Work and Freedom: the Coming AI Dystopia and UBI Financial Enslavement

The Engineered Collapse of Work and Freedom: the Coming AI Dystopia and UBI Financial Enslavement

I’ve spent years documenting the patterns of control and deception, from psyops to our poisoned food supply. But what I’m witnessing today is a new, insidious parallel unfolding. It’s not about chance or mere corporate greed. We are living through a meticulously orchestrated plan by a technocratic elite to render the majority of humanity economically superfluous, spiritually broken, and permanently dependent. This article is my case against the coming AI dystopia — not as a distant sci-fi nightmare, but as a present-day, engineered collapse of work and freedom.

The evidence is all around us, if you know where to look. The replacement of human labor is accelerating. Financial systems are being redesigned for control, not prosperity. And the psychological war to make us accept our own obsolescence is in full swing. I believe we are at a civilizational precipice. To understand the endpoint, we must first understand the rigged game we’ve been playing all along.

We’ve been sold a myth of free markets and upward mobility. In reality, what we’ve had is a relentless march toward monopolization controlled by a small elite.

Let’s be blunt: the replacement of human labor and cognition is the stated goal, not an unfortunate side effect. The architects behind AI systems are fully aware these technologies will eventually replace human labor across a wide range of tasks [4]. We’re already seeing early signs, with projections that 70-80% of physical labor and half of white-collar jobs will vanish in the years ahead. From my perspective, this isn’t about efficiency; it’s about power. Elon Musk himself, making his debut at the World Economic Forum, spoke of a future with “more robots than people” [5]. The technocratic vision is clear: a world where human cognitive labor holds negative value.

The consequence is a ‘surplus humanity’ — billions with no economic purpose in the eyes of the elite. This is not a side effect; it’s the core of the plan. As I’ve stated in my own reports, within a decade, approximately half of the global population — around 4 billion people — will become obsolete due to automation [6]. What happens to a person stripped of their ability to contribute, to provide, to find dignity in work? Mass despair is the inevitable result, and that despair is not a bug in the system — it’s a feature. A broken, dependent population is far less likely to resist. It’s a recipe for engineered social breakdown, paving the way for the ‘solutions’ the elite are already rolling out.

UBI and Digital IDs: The Trojan Horses of Total Control

Faced with the crisis of mass obsolescence they created, the elite offer their solution: Universal Basic Income (UBI) and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). Do not be fooled. These are not tools for liberation, but rather the very architecture of digital enslavement. As noted in the Trends Journal, a Cornell University professor laid out how CBDCs will enable unprecedented granular control over money — and by extension, all human activities [7]. UBI is the allowance, and the CBDC is the leash. Your ability to buy food, travel, or even speak could be instantly turned off with a social credit score penalty.

We have already seen these systems weaponized. I’ve observed the implementation of elements like de-cashing and CBDCs being tested for potential manipulation of financial systems [8]. The recent targeting of crypto gateways highlights the trend toward centralized control over all financial activity [9]. Imagine this control applied to every aspect of life. Your diet could be rationed for ‘climate compliance.’ Your movement restricted for ‘public health.’ Your speech silenced if your views are ‘non-inclusive.’ This is the logical end point: a population that owns nothing, has no purpose, and is perpetually grateful for the digital crumbs from the master’s table. It is a high-tech return to feudalism and enslavement.

Not good, amid reports Pakistan peace talks could also resume, Monday perhaps:

US OFFICIAL TELLS AXIOS WAR MAY RESUME IF NO BREAKTHROUGH

Reaction by India

New Delhi has summoned the Iranian ambassador to condemn the IRGC Navy's attack on one of its tankers earlier in the day:

US Prepares to Board Iran-Linked Ships Globally

According to the latest headlines there was a second tanker incidenta Container ship reportedly hit by 'unknown projectile' in second incident while other traffic stalls.

Meanwhile on Saturday the Pentagon is signaling yet another major escalation in the latest effort to reassert US leverage over the Hormuz crisis. It is preparing to expand the fight not just to the Hormuz/Persian Gulf regions, but broadly to the high seas.

"The U.S. military is preparing in coming days to board Iran-linked oil tankers and seize commercial ships in international waters, according to U.S. officials, expanding its naval crackdown beyond the Middle East," WSJreports. This means the American military will pursue vessels around the world that are helping Iran, as it steps up 'Economic Fury' as an extension of 'Epic Furty'. WSJ comments further:

The planning comes as the Iranian military continues to tighten its grip on the Strait of Hormuz, attacking several commercial vessels on Saturday as it declared the waterway was being “strictly controlled” by Iran. The developments sent shipping companies scrambling a day after Iran’s foreign minister said the strait was fully open to commercial traffic—an announcement that was welcomed by President Trump.

The past days have seen both sides try and declare and assert control over the vital waterway and their own blockade based on rival 'conditions' for ship passage. But all of this has meant a continued effective closure. US Central Command (CENTCOM) has cited that the US Navy has already turned back at least 23 ships after they were at Iranian ports. In the meantime Trump is still claiming Iran agreed to hand over its enriched uranium - or nuclear 'dust' - but Tehran has made clear it will never do so, dismissing this as a made-up fantasy.

Iranian Forces Open Fire On Tanker

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reports that a tanker was "approached by 2 IRGC gunboats, with no VHF challenge, and then fired upon."

UKMTO did not provide any further details about the two Iranian vessels that fired on the tanker or the type of weapons used in the maritime incident, which was reported to have occurred 20 nautical miles northeast of Oman.

Assume that President Trump is about to become absolutely furious on Truth Social. One can also assume that backchanneling and behind-the-scenes talks are not going well if an incident like this occurred ahead of the U.S.-Iran weekend negotiations.

A Hostile Iran, A Threatened Israel, And A World On Edge

A Hostile Iran, A Threatened Israel, And A World On Edge

If you are seeking a peg upon which to hang your intellectual hat, it’s Bible prophecy. As Islamic nations threaten to annihilate Israel, it’s causing many to turn with renewed interest to one particular chapter in the Bible. More than 2,500 years ago, this portion of Scripture actually named the nations that would attack Israel “in the latter years.”

Here are the key verses from Ezekiel 38: “Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal…Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them…Gomer and all its troops…Togarmah from the far north…. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people…brought out of the nations…'” (Ezekiel 38:3,5-68)

Look at how specific Jesus was about the fate of the Jews: “And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (Luke 21:24).

After 2,000 years without a homeland, in 1948, they were gathered back to Israel and became a nation, perfectly fulfilling the words of Jesus. They were indeed “brought back from the sword” and “brought out of the nations.”

Let’s now look at the identity of those who will attack Israel. Most Bible commentators interpret “Magog” as Russia, as it is directly north of Israel. Meshech and Tubal are modern-day Turkey. Persia changed its name to Iran in 1935 and further changed it to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979. Ancient Ethiopia is the land south of Egypt known as modern-day Sudan, and Gomer is said by some to be part of modern Turkey. According to the Bible, the nations that would attack Israel in the latter days are Russia, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Libya, and Sudan.

Is the war between Iran and Israel the start of World War III? It’s a question many are asking. If it isn’t, it certainly feels like the lighting of a fuse on a global powder keg—one that could easily explode into worldwide conflict.

For years, Iran has openly expressed its desire to wipe Israel off the map. And Israel’s greatest concern? That Iran might acquire nuclear weapons to turn that threat into reality. That concern isn’t irrational. While most nations view nuclear arms as a deterrent, Iran’s objective appears to be much more sinister. It aims to eradicate Israel, echoing the genocidal ambitions of Hitler.

The world is watching. Oil prices have skyrocketed. Global markets are shaken. For students of the Bible, these events resonate with prophetic familiarity.

Could this be tied to Bible prophecy?

Many believe so. In Ezekiel 38 and 39, Scripture speaks of a future attack on Israel by a coalition of nations. A key player mentioned is Persia—modern-day Iran: “Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them…” (Ezekiel 38:5)

Some believe we are witnessing the unfolding of these ancient prophecies in real time: a hostile Iran, a threatened Israel, and a world on edge, fearing nuclear war.

But for Christians, Jesus gave this comforting reminder: “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” — (Luke 21:28)

Prophecy shouldn’t just fuel curiosity—it should inspire urgency. It serves as a reminder that God sees the future, is in complete control, and calls us to maximize the time we have left to share the gospel. Prophecy is concrete evidence that the Scriptures are inspired by the Creator (as they claim)—because only God knows the future. That gives very real credibility to the Bible’s promise of everlasting life.
