The US and UK Are Reportedly Helping Israel Intercept Iranian Drones, But How?
Israeli officials have claimed that US and UK air defenses have already shot down more than 100 Iranian drones. If true, these interceptions were most likely executed by nearby American and British warships, retired US Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik.“I expect that it was done from the American and UK ships, using both US destroyers, the Aegis combat system, and also fighter aircraft launched off the USS Eisenhower.”
“If it is not by sea, we might be looking at a US violation of other countries airspace,” she added. “The various US bases in Iraq, and elsewhere in the region would have some air defense capability, but it is not clear where exactly these were intercepted.”
Kwiatkowski also noted Israel reporting on Iranian drone interceptions “must be taken with a grain of salt because the government is keen to be seen as having unwavering support from the US and the UK.”
