Taken to the Limit, Spaniards in Ceuta fight back.

We all know the catastrophic story: in late July, no less than 70,000 Moroccan and Algerian invaders swam or paddled into the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta, totally overwhelming the border patrols or the emergency services.

The scenes shocked the world and showed for everyone to see the suicidal character of Socialist Pedro Sánchez’s immigration policies.

A few days later, most of the invaders were sent back across the border to Morocco, and Sánchez galivanted to vacation in the Canary Islands.

However, thousands upon thousands of invaders remained in the enclave – and, as the locals soon pointed out, those were the absolute worst ones.

They turned Ceuta’s beaches into filthy, squalid slums, with makeshift shacks and huts, with human waste covering the sand and floating in the sea.

Near the water, they held ‘fight clubs’ where they faced each other in combat.

Is it any wonder that inhabitants of Ceuta have finally had enough?

A series of viral videos doing the rounds on social media show hundreds of citizens charging the beach slum, expelling the invaders, tearing down the shacks and huts, in some cases burning them.

Iran claims US is unleashing 'economic terrorism' with new sanctions, urges countries to not comply

Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement claiming the Trump administration is launching “a new wave of economic terrorism” against Iran under Operation Economic Outcast. 

“Economic sanctions by the United States against Iran, regardless of their name or title, are completely illegal and illegitimate actions that violate the United Nations Charter, international humanitarian law, and human rights,” the statement read. “On this basis, all countries are obligated to refrain from implementing such sanctions.” 

“In continuation of its hostile and illegal policies against Iran, the U.S. government unveiled a new wave of economic terrorism under the title ‘Operation Economic Outcast’ against Iran on Monday... which amounts to U.S. state terrorism against Iran and the world,” the statement added. 

“While condemning U.S. economic terrorism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the determination of the Iranian nation to utilize all capacities to defend the homeland against military, economic, and hybrid aggression,” it also said. 

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Monday that under President Donald Trump’s direction, “the United States Treasury has begun Operation Economic Outcast – an unprecedented campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran and its enablers.” 

“Beginning today, the actions of Treasury and other agencies will tighten the noose and block every potential source of revenue that funds the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian regime. We are enforcing a zero-leakage approach,” Bessent added. “There will be no minimal breathing space for the regime to rebuild its capacity to inflict terror against America and the world.” 

Nearly 2 dozen ships in Strait of Hormuz were hit with projectiles since early July, report says

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO) said in a report released Friday that 23 projectile strike incidents have been documented in the Strait of Hormuz since early July, “resulting in bridge, engine-room, and structural damage across vessels operating in and around” the key waterway. 

The report said “traffic remains well below normal levels” in the Strait of Hormuz and the “Southern Omani route remains the highest-risk corridor, accounting for 16 of 18 projectile strike incidents reported by UKMTO” since July 16. 

“Engine rooms were the primary damage location (14 incidents), highlighting the potential for attacks to directly impact vessel mobility and operational continuity,” it also said. “U.S. enforcement actions against Iranian-linked shipping continue in the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Gulf, adding a further layer of operational uncertainty.” 

Trump shares image declaring Strait of Hormuz among US territories

President Donald Trump shared an image overnight on Truth Social that labeled the Strait of Hormuz as being among U.S. territories. 

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on X, in response to the post, that "Schizophrenia is a complex and acute psychotic disorder that manifests with disturbances in thinking and a distorted perception of reality." 

"Its most common symptom is also hallucinations and delusions. Psychologists recommend that such patients should be under 24-hour supervision and receive treatment," Gharibabadi added. 

The president said last week that he views the "Strait of Hormuz as an American territory right now."

The turbulent era of artificial intelligence has arrived, and the choices governments and societies make now could determine whether AI becomes a historic force for equality or a driver of unprecedented disruption, Bill Gates argues in a new essay, "Make AI Work for Everyone," published on his GatesNoteswebsite.

Gates, the Microsoft co-founder who has spent much of his post-Microsoft career focused on global health, education, and poverty through the Gates Foundation, says AI is advancing too quickly for existing institutions to prepare adequately.

At 70, he writes that he now views AI through the lens of both his technology career and his philanthropic work.

His central warning is blunt: AI is different from previous technological revolutions because it can perform tasks involving human cognition and can spread rapidly through technologies people already use.

Unlike the personal computer, which took decades to reshape workplaces, AI can be adopted quickly because it communicates in natural language and can learn from existing information.

Gates identifies three major risks:

• Permanent job displacement. AI could eliminate large numbers of entry- and mid-level jobs across customer service, sales, software, law, healthcare, and other fields. Robots could eventually accelerate disruption in physical occupations, leaving younger workers especially vulnerable to a shrinking supply of entry-level jobs.
• More powerful harm by bad actors. AI could make cyberattacks, fraud, deepfakes, disinformation, surveillance, and even biological threats easier to execute. Gates also warns that increasingly autonomous AI systems could eventually behave in ways their creators did not intend.
• Damage to human development and relationships. AI companions could become addictive and discourage young people from developing social skills. Gates also worries that excessive reliance on AI could weaken critical thinking at precisely the moment people need stronger defenses against misinformation.

Gates says AI could nevertheless produce extraordinary benefits.

It could accelerate medical discoveries, help doctors diagnose emergencies, provide farmers in poorer countries with better agricultural advice, make government services easier to navigate, and give teachers tools to personalize education.

He argues that making these benefits broadly available is essential to building public trust.

Gates envisions global cooperation modeled partly on existing systems for nuclear inspections, international aviation, and environmental agreements.

The essay is notable because Gates acknowledges his continuing financial ties to the technology industry and his work with Microsoft and other AI companies through his philanthropic activities.

He says profits from his investments ultimately support the Gates Foundation and global-equity initiatives.

Gates says he intends to put AI and equity at the center of his conversations with lawmakers, world leaders, and technology executives.

The Gates Foundation will pursue AI applications in global health, agriculture, and education, while his climate-focused company, Breakthrough Energy, will explore AI's role in developing cheaper clean energy.

Israel has conveyed a message to the United States through security channels that a pilot program in southern Lebanon, which began being implemented following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Beirut and Jerusalem, has failed, Walla reported Thursday.

Israel provided information regarding the Lebanese Army’s activities and expressed, in no uncertain terms, its dissatisfaction with the army’s operations against Hezbollah terror infrastructure and operatives in the area.

According to security officials, "The Lebanese Army is not destroying terror infrastructure based on the coordinates provided to it by the IDF, while at the same time requesting more coordinates, even though it is not doing anything about it."

The IDF has criticized the Lebanese Army’s performance, claiming that it is not acting effectively against Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. According to assessments, Iran, which previously provided significant support to the organization, is currently focused on its own survival struggles and is not rushing to come to Hezbollah’s aid.

According to assessments by senior IDF officials, Lebanese Army Chief of Staff Rudolf Haykal continues to cooperate with Hezbollah, fears confrontation with commanders of the Shi’ite organization in southern Lebanon, and is ineffective in carrying out searches, locating terror infrastructure and finding weapons.

"There is no real friction between the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah. Hezbollah would not want anyone to collect its weapons or destroy its infrastructure," a senior security official said.

"The Lebanese army chief of staff is not going above and beyond. There is no real enforcement. The Lebanese Army is more focused on coordination," the official said. "It is clear that Israel is not satisfied, and therefore it is not rushing to agree on additional pilot areas."

The official added: "The Lebanese Army reached a point, entered the underground opening a few meters, turned around and left. They did not dare to go inside. We assess that they will not deal with anything. Despite this, they insist on receiving more coordinates."
