NATO’s decision to enforce a Baltic Sea blockade in the wake of the Balticconnector gas pipeline explosion risks heightening tensions in the region.
NATO will enforce a blockade against Russian ships in the Baltic Sea following the explosion which destroyed a portion of the Balticconnector gas pipeline.
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko stated publicly that such an action would be a violation of international law.
This will essentially isolate Kaliningrad to a critical extent, and will potentially create an increasingly tense situation over the railway transport between Belarus and the Russian exclave in the near future
