Iran's foreign minister has announced that Hamas is ready to release hostages kidnapped by Israel and that Tehran may play a role in a swap deal.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told an emergency session of the UN General Assembly that Iran "is ready to play its part in this very important humanitarian project, together with Qatar and Turkey."
According to the Iranian foreign minister, Hamas has told Iran that it is ready to release the civilian hostages, adding that the world should press for the release of 6,000 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
