Hundreds of small aftershocks have occurred after a major earthquake in the northern part of the Philippines. Scared residents spent the night outside the house. Five people have been killed and more than 150 injured in an earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale in Abra, a sparsely populated area in the northern Philippines.
A restaurant owner in the Abra area said that "aftershocks have been coming about every 20 minutes since yesterday. Many people, almost all families, spent the night outside."Some families have been given tents to live in. Marcos Junion has appealed to the people to wait for him to be tested before going back to their homes.
Hundreds of buildings have been destroyed, roads have been blocked due to landslides. And power has also been cut in the affected areas. But in Abra, where the quake's epicenter was, there was limited damage, Police Chief Colonel Mali Kula told AFP.He said, not many people live in this place who have to be evacuated. However, many people are living on the streets due to fear of aftershocks.
