Israeli fighter jets struck Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Sunday, hitting the presidential palace compound, fuel depots and two major power plants in one of the fiercest escalations since the Houthis began targeting Israel with missiles and drones. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Houthis were “paying a very heavy price” for their attacks, while Foreign Minister Israel Katz vowed the strikes would continue. Houthi officials reported at least two people killed and more than 35 injured, accusing Israel of bombing civilian infrastructure, while the rebels pledged to keep attacking Israel despite the raids. The escalation comes days after the Houthis claimed a missile strike on Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, which Tel Aviv said was intercepted.
