A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.2 hit near Adak, Andreanof Islands, Aleutian Islands, Alaska at 14:53 UTC on March 21, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 26 km (16 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.2 at a depth of 30 km (18 miles). The quake took place just 3 minutes after M6.2 south of Panama.
The epicenter was located 84 km (52 miles) SSE of Adak (population 332) and 1 545 km (960 miles) SSE of Anadyr, Russia.
The USGS issued a Green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
