A piece of legislation proposed in the House of Representatives that has slipped under the radar is called the “Disease X Act of 2023.”
H.R.3832, introduced in June 2023, has bipartisan sponsorship in Congress.
The sponsors include:
- Rep. Lori Trahan (D-MA)
- Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX)
- Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV)
- Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX)
“Mrs. Trahan (for herself, Mr. Burgess, Mr. Crenshaw, and Ms. Lee of Nevada) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce,” the bill reads.
“To establish a program at BARDA for developing medical countermeasures for viral threats with pandemic potential,” the bill continues.
Cosponsored by Dan Crenshaw, Mike Burgess and Susie Lee, who want BARDA to develop some more “medical countermeasures.”
The World Economic Forum will conduct its annual Davos summit this week and discussions about “Disease X” are on the agenda.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) and World Health Organization (WHO) will join forces next week at the annual Davos summit to discuss a hypothetical future ‘pandemic’ 20 times more fatal than COVID-19.
“With fresh warnings from the World Health Organization that an unknown ‘Disease X’ could result in 20 times more fatalities than the coronavirus pandemic, what novel efforts are needed to prepare healthcare systems for the multiple challenges ahead?” the WEF wrote.
The list of speakers for the session on “Disease X” will include:
- Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO
- Shyam Bishen, Head of the Centre for Health and Healthcare at WEF
- Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips
- Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice-Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals
- Nisia Trindade Lima, Minister of Health, Brazil
- Michel Demaré, Chair of the Board, AstraZeneca
- Jamil Edmond Anderlini, Editor-in-Chief, Europe, Politico
BBC News previously reported on a high-security research facility working to develop a vaccine for “Disease X.”
