On August 25, 2023, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a jobs program for tens of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens who arrive in the Empire State on a weekly basis. All of this is taking place as roughly 380,000 New Yorkers are unemployed.
Over 100,000 border crossers and illegal aliens have arrived in New York, predominantly in New York City, since the spring of 2022, Hochul has begged the Biden regime not to halt the flow of illegal immigration but to instead facilitate the handout of work permits to these invaders.
On top of that, Hochul unveiled a jobs program for border crossers and illegal aliens that grants the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) the power to authorize connecting migrants with employers so they can take jobs from Americans.
“All asylum seekers with work authorization in New York can now register for assistance here,” a press release from Hochul’s office highlights about the jobs program:
DOL career experts will work with individuals to assess skills, work history, education, career interests and more, and connect them with employers across the State. Additionally, the New York State Department of Labor launched a portal enabling businesses to inform the State that they would welcome newly-authorized individuals into their workforce.
The announcement of Hochul’s jobs program comes at a time when over 380,000 New Yorkers are listed as unemployed and likely hundreds of thousands more don’t even bother to participate in the labor force altogether.
