More Quakes Hit Ring Of Fire





Three more major quakes hit the Pacific Ring Of Fire in the last 24 hours bringing the total 8 in the last 7 days.

It brings the total number of major quakes this month to 16 and all of them occurred along the Pacific Ring Of Fire with many of them occurring in the vicinity of active volcanoes.

A Mag 6.4 and a Mag 6.3, 102km E of Ust'-Kamchatsk Staryy, Russia struck this morning 3 days after an eruption occurred and the ash plume was spotted at the Raikoke Volcano, Sea of Okhotsk Area.

The Bolshaya Udina volcano -- part of the Kamchatka Peninsula's Udina volcanic complex was also showing activity after it was thought to have been dormant since 2017.

A significant explosive eruption has been observed at the Mount Ulawun Volcano, Papua New Guinea, the ash erupted to 15 km (50,000ft), evacuations are underway.
Ash plumes have risen to 50,000ft, and the Aviation Colour Code has been raised to Red.
A mag 6.3 and a mag 6.1 struck the area earlier this week.

Yesterday, the Ubinas Volcano, Peru began emitting small amounts of ash (most likely phreatic) the first activity in two years.
A mag 6.4 - 72km W of Coquimbo, Chile south of the volcano last week.

Volcano Activity at the Santiaguito (Santa Maria) Volcano in Guatemala was reported on June 21 and has been followed by a mag 6.6 - 27km SSE of La Libertad, El Salvador this morning.

Mount Sinabung volcano Indonesia, is at the second highest alert level with a no-go zone of 5km from the crater.
A column of thick ash was spewed 7km high into the sky from the crater of Mount Sinabung Residents living near the flank of the volcano were urged to use masks when ash rains down, spokesman of national disaster management agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said. 
A massive magnitude 7.3 quake, shook the area 2 days ago, with another 2 magnitude 6+ quakes further north last week.

A total of 74 major quakes (67 along the Pacific Ring Of Fire) have struck the planet so far this year, last year and 2017 at this point, only 44 major quakes had been reported by USGS.
